Tips for choosing sizes

With such a variety of sizes and shapes of hobs, what should you ultimately pay attention to when making your final choice of stove?

  • The depth of the hob should correspond to the depth of the kitchen cabinets, so that after installation all the parts are a single line, without protruding islands. This way you won't regularly hit corners while cooking.
  • It is advisable to leave a distance of 60 to 100 between the sink and the stove . If the stove is located near a wall, for safe work in the kitchen there must be at least 30 cm between the wall and the hob. Accordingly, when choosing the size of the stove, these indicators must be taken into account.
  • You should choose a stove based on the real needs of your family. For a family of 5 people, where everyone has special culinary preferences, 3 burners is too few. Cooking will turn into a punishment, will take a lot of time and, instead of saving space, will ensure that you are constantly in the kitchen. Also, you should not choose huge models with 5-6 burners for a family of 2-3 people.
  • Ease of use. When choosing between different models of 4-burner stoves, you should give preference to the one that seems simpler and more convenient to use: semicircular, oval or trapezoidal.

Built-in appliances deserve special attention, since in this case it is worth choosing not only the depth and width, but also the height of the panels. In the classic version, this is 4-5 cm, which fully corresponds to the laminated chipboard from which kitchen furniture is made. But there are cooking surfaces with a depth of up to 10 cm, the installation of which will be accompanied by certain difficulties and lead to additional financial expenses.

How to choose and what to pay attention to?

Before purchasing, it is important to decide on the following parameters:

  1. Construction type . There are built-in and free-standing models. The latter act as independent equipment. The first type is divided into two more subtypes: dependent and independent panels. Dependents are included with the oven and do not have their own controls. Independent ones are built into the countertop and are considered full-fledged appliances. Which type to choose depends on the user’s personal preferences.
  2. Surface material . Tiles are made of stainless steel, enamel or glass ceramics. Steel and glass surfaces are considered durable. Enamel ones quickly deteriorate with constant cleaning.
  3. Control type . Today, touch control panels are in incredible demand. They are easy to use and can be configured with just one click.
  4. Dimensions . The more compact the tile, the more impressive it looks on the kitchen table. It will require a minimum of space, but will remain convenient to use.
  5. Additional functions . It’s good if the model is equipped with a timer, auto-shut-off, pause, dish recognition, auto-boiling, residual heat indication, and locks.

Classification of hob sizes

All hobs are conventionally divided into:

  • Small-sized;
  • Medium-sized;
  • Large-sized.

Important: This division is conditional and assumes only average values over the width of the panel and different parameters of their depth.

Small options

If the apartment has a small kitchen or no room at all with the appropriate purpose, for a summer house, or when you just want to save space for a kitchen table or other equipment, you should choose a stove with a width of 30 cm (some manufacturers offer even more compact sizes, from 28.8 cm).
The depth of the panel depends on the number of burners located on it: one or two. It is worth considering that the difference in parameters between one- and two-burner stoves will be insignificant, but the second option is preferable, as it is more functional. The maximum depth is 60 cm, the minimum is about 45 cm.

Mid-size models

The width of such a hob will be from 45 cm to 60 cm. Both the first and second can be built-in, respectively, the size is selected depending on the parameters of the furniture.
45 cm stoves take up little space, but most often this does not affect the size of the burners themselves and does not limit the size of the dishes used. Space saving is achieved by reducing the sides of the panel, as well as the distance between the burners themselves. On a note! Using such equipment is convenient and easy, but only if the dimensions of your previous hob did not exceed these parameters. In this case, severe discomfort will be felt. A slab with a width of 60 cm takes up much more space and may seem inconvenient during operation. In addition, manufacturers use free space in completely different ways:

  • increase the space between the burners;
  • increase the size of the burners themselves; they can be used for dishes of non-standard shapes and sizes;
  • control handles are placed on the side, reducing the depth of the slab due to its width.

The depth of a medium-sized hob does not exceed 60 cm; for built-in panels this parameter rarely exceeds 50-52 cm.

Large equipment

The minimum size of these slabs is 68 cm; it is difficult to name the maximum, since some manufacturers, in an attempt to create unique and unusual kitchen appliances, offer completely unrealistic dimensions, more than 1 meter.
You can also see panels made in the shape of the letter T or corner panels. The depth of these slabs may also differ; similar models are used to create an island in the kitchen, and the dimensions of kitchen appliances can be limited only by the designer’s imagination.

Weissgauff HV 32 B

Experience of use: several months Advantages: Inexpensive. Compact. Nice design. Heats up quickly. Disadvantages: The power cable is located under the front of the panel. In my opinion, it's inconvenient. Comment: We bought it for a summer house and chose a compact panel so that it would not take up much space. But if you cook a lot and often, and use several burners at the same time, then it is better to consider a larger stove. It will not be possible to place two large pans at the same time. The quality of materials and workmanship is decent. The best option for this price! For those who have a limited budget, I recommend this model.

LEX EVH 321 BL

Experience of use: less than a month Advantages: I really liked that the sensor works from the slightest touch. The panel has a long wire installed on the back side of the sensors. The markings of the wires are clearly understandable. The tile heats up very quickly. Disadvantages: Haven't discovered it yet Comment: I'm very glad I bought this stove. The manufacturer was previously unknown to me.

Weissgauff HV 312 B

Advantages: Compact, easy to operate, heats well, I cook with pleasure. Disadvantages: — Comment: We bought it for a small 5-meter kitchen and for a family of 3 people. Considering the presence of various household appliances - a multicooker, oven, microwave, electric kettle - we decided that two burners would be enough. And they were not mistaken. Thanks to this, the working surface has increased from 60 to 80 cm (!), which is a luxury for a small kitchen. Regarding the characteristics, I personally am satisfied with everything. There is enough power, the adjustment is smooth, and it is also important that there are two working diameters on one burner. I have saucepans that are exactly the same diameter. The only thing I’m now puzzled about is buying a small-diameter frying pan with sides

MAUNFELD EVCE.292-BK

Experience of use: less than a month Advantages: Not expensive. Cool design. Easy to care for. Heats up quickly. Disadvantages: haven’t found it yet Comment: I bought it 2 weeks ago, initially I liked the design, and the dimensions fit perfectly into my kitchen. So far I’m just delighted, it’s convenient to cook on it, the temperature is conveniently regulated, it’s easy to clean, there are no streaks or scratches left. I recommend!

LEX EVH 320 BL

Experience of use: several months Advantages: Heats up quickly, low cost, good sensor, fits a frying pan and a small saucepan, timer Disadvantages: location of the touch panel buttons and display Comment: Very satisfied with the hob, a regular-sized frying pan and a small saucepan can easily fit, heats up evenly over the entire heating surface, with sound signals, timer, display. The only thing I would like to add is the direction of the location of the designation of the touch buttons and the display itself. We installed it horizontally rather than vertically, and it would be convenient if we could choose a model with different directions of buttons, but this does not cause any particular inconvenience when using it. A great option for this price. We've been using it for several months now.

MAUNFELD EVCE.292-BK

Experience of use: less than a month Advantages: we bought an apartment in a high-rise building where there is no gas, so the question arose about an electric hob; my wife and I liked the Maunfeld EVCE 292-BK surface among the new products. Easy to clean surface, convenient power switching, child protection, timer and sound notification, compact. We have not yet been disappointed in our purchase, and have no complaints yet

LEX EVH 320 BL

Experience of use: less than a month Advantages: I quickly figured out how to use it, heats up quickly, cools down quickly too. Disadvantages: There is not enough space between the burners. Comment: This is my first hob and I am very pleased, after two weeks of use there were no problems. Once again, the only problem is the placement of two pans, there is not enough space.

Hansa Hi-Light BHCS38120030

Experience of use: several months Advantages: Price! Moreover, it does not affect the quality! Heats up quickly, cleans and is easy to clean. Nothing has cracked or broken yet. It takes a long time to cool down, but apparently this is the case for everyone. There is a residual heat indicator. Disadvantages: Rotary switches: if something escapes, I’m always afraid that it will flow under them and everything will close there. Connection: you need to have an outlet nearby, even though the stove is built-in, otherwise you will have to disassemble it. Comment: At first I didn’t want to take it with a frame, but now I’m even happy: if something runs away, it won’t be all over the table! ))

Tatiana

Kuppersberg ECO 301

Experience of use: several months Advantages: High-quality surface. Withstands even heavy pots if necessary. No cracks or scratches after washing. Heats up quickly, the control panel is convenient, nothing difficult to understand. Looks great in a compact kitchen. Moreover, for the price it is an inexpensive option. Disadvantages: I am completely satisfied. Comment: Simply ideal for a studio apartment. I bought it and don’t regret it.

Hansa Hi-Light BHCS38120030

Experience of use: several months Advantages: Great price for a panel with 2 burners, despite the fact that the quality is very decent and the tiles themselves are reliable. I liked the beautiful design right away. Good burners with a reliable ceramic coating that has withstood more than one blow from metal utensils. There were no traces left either. Comment: I use it and am happy, it’s just right for small kitchens. 2 burners are more than enough, the power is normal. I’ll also note that for safety reasons, it’s also good to turn off if anything happens (it helped out a couple of times). and finally, the controls are excellent, classic rotary... I don’t like sensors. The Germans made a good, reliable surface, for which we thank them.

Basil

Gorenje ECT 321 BCSC

Experience of use: more than a year Advantages: Convenient, compact hob Disadvantages: Sometimes something with a sound signal (occasionally it works quieter than usual) Comment: I’ve been using it for a year and a half, there were no problems and there are no problems. The family is small, so it’s enough for the two of us. Not to add to the cons, but still. If you use two large pots or pans, they will not fit. But I knew what I was getting into. The included instructions are detailed; if you follow them, there will be no difficulties with self-installation. Let me point out that the quality of the seal included is poor. It is difficult to peel off the base; the tape itself broke a couple of times when I was gluing it. They could not find analogues for it in stores. Conclusion: a normal stove, for a small kitchen, from a trusted manufacturer.

Maksim

Beko HDCE 32200 X

Experience of use: less than a month Advantages: Comes with a power cable, it’s very convenient, I’ll say it as a person who bought hobs several times, and then looked for wires and plugs for them…. Disadvantages: I would say the most significant is that the inscriptions with temperature risks are painted, 100% of them will be erased by rubbing. Comment: I bought it for my grandparents to replace a failed panel from another company. This one turned out to be narrower and longer, I had to finish the hole a little, but the width fit right next to each other, covering the cut hole. The kit has everything you need, I just took it out of the box, sealed it with sealant and plugged it into a socket, installation and sawing took no more than an hour, and that was because I only had a hand saw with me. Once again, BEKO equipment pleases us, reasonable price and decent quality! PS About the power cable, believe me, it seems like nonsense, until you are faced with the fact that when you take the panel out of the box, you cannot install it, because... you have to go get a cable and plug.

Kitchen panel and interior

Today there is a fairly wide range of built-in stoves on sale, so users are able to choose an acceptable option not only in terms of functional characteristics, but also in color design. Many people choose to match the color of the furniture tabletop, while other buyers prefer contrast. A classic of the genre, white enamel harmonizes perfectly with the natural color of the wood and the white finish of the kitchen set. The steel surface matches any interior. Glass ceramics harmoniously blend into the high tech style. New last year were panels made of mirrored tempered glass; in appearance and functionality they resemble glass ceramics, but at a much lower cost.
