Appearance of the device
Like other gadgets in this series, iLife A40 looks strong and concise.
Its body is made of plastic, and the top panel is protected by tempered glass.
The main part is white and the bottom is black. Thanks to this color, the robot can be easily detected even in a dark room.
The vacuum cleaner has a round shape. Its edges are slightly beveled downwards, thanks to which the gadget quickly overcomes obstacles.
On the front panel you can find a mechanical start button , which is illuminated during operation.
The front side of the robot is protected by a bumper with infrared sensors that prevent collisions with various objects, sensors that track the location of the charging station, and a signal receiver from the remote control.
For your information! On the reverse side there is a power connector for connecting to the network, a power button and a dust container door.
On the bottom there are contacts for recharging from the base, a front wheel responsible for maneuverability, and two driving wheels.
There are also a pair of side brushes, a battery cover, a central brush and sensors that protect the gadget from falling from a height.
Dust collector
There is a removable dust collector on the side. To pull it out, just tap on the rear latch.
Its body is made of tinted translucent plastic, but this does not bring any benefit. After all, to view the contents of the dust collector, you need to remove it or turn the robot over. The front partition of the dust collector is quite high, so if you handle it correctly, debris will not fall out.
The upper part of the dust collector can be folded back, making it easy to remove bulky debris from the lower part. To completely clean the dust container, you need to pull out the mesh filter and remove any remaining debris from it, then you need to do the same with the foam filter and pleated filter. To do this, use a regular vacuum cleaner with a crevice tool. In this case, you need to be very careful not to spoil the thin foam filter. There is no fan in the dust collector, therefore, it and all filters (except for the fine filter) can be washed under water and then dried thoroughly. It is advisable to change the fine filter every six months.

Advantages and disadvantages
To summarize the review, we can highlight the main pros and cons of the ilife a40 vacuum cleaner. The advantages include:
- Stylish appearance;
- High battery power;
- High suction power;
- 4 cleaning modes;
- Power increase function on soft surfaces;
- Automatic search for charging station;
- Scheduled cleaning function;
- Possibility of remote control.
The downside was the high noise level. Also, before cleaning, it is necessary to clear the room of large debris.
A robot vacuum cleaner can become a worthy competitor to other devices. At a low cost, it has the necessary set of functions and high power.
Functionality
Keep in mind! The iLife A40 robot keeps the room clean thanks to the CyclonePower system.
Side brushes collect large debris, and the main brush ensures thorough cleaning of dust from the coating .
All dirt goes into a spacious dust container with two filters that prevent re-pollution of the air.
According to the manufacturer, iLife A40 thoroughly cleans carpets .
In this case, there is no need to switch the mode when the device switches from a smooth surface to a high-pile carpet.
The iLife A40's cleaning times can only be programmed once , while other iLife models have the ability to schedule for an entire week.
But if you consider that the model is sold at a budget price, the absence of this function is not a disadvantage.
Functional Features
By default, the robot starts cleaning in automatic mode, the trajectory is built in a straight line from one obstacle to another. The processor periodically activates the passage along the walls of the room, and movement along a spiral trajectory is also carried out, but after contact with an obstacle the direction becomes rectilinear again. To activate the automatic algorithm, you need to press the Clean button on the robot body or the mode button located on the control panel.
The equipment is moved around the room until the battery is discharged, after which it is sent to the charging base. Returning to the station to charge the battery is also possible after the end of the cleaning cycle. If the user programs a delayed start using a timer, the robot cleans automatically.
The keys on the remote control allow you to activate manual driving mode. The robot initially starts along an automatic trajectory, but then it can be controlled by pressing buttons. The user has the ability to force the equipment body to rotate sideways or move in a straight line. Pressing the button, indicated by an icon in the form of a rectangle with arrows, activates the passage of the product along the walls of the room and interior items.
The robot removes local contamination; to do this, the product must be moved to the location of the garbage and installed on the floor. It is possible to direct the vacuum cleaner to the dust collection point in forced manual mode. There is a separate button on the remote control, marked with a sight icon, which allows you to activate the intensive cleaning mode. At the same time, the robot moves along an unfolding and collapsing spiral, removing contamination. The outer diameter of the trajectory is 1 m.
The remote control has a Max button for adjusting turbine performance, allowing you to change the rotor speed in all modes except manual. Pressing the key again ensures that the speed decreases to the nominal value. To program a delayed start using a timer, you must synchronize the remote control and the vacuum cleaner controller. When configured correctly, the robot beeps.
Equipment
Reference! iLife A40 comes with the following configuration:
- charging base;
- remote control with batteries;
- battery;
- brush for cleaning gadget parts;
- two spare side brushes;
- spare pleated filter with a fine mesh;
- user manual;
- warranty card.
To prevent the gadget from being damaged during transportation, the manufacturer packed it in two boxes.
This is an outer one made of corrugated cardboard and an inner one with a company logo and a plastic handle for easy transportation.
Bottom
There are two contact pads on the bottom that connect to the base for automatically charging the vacuum cleaner. There are also several wheels, two side brushes, a battery compartment cover and several sensors for monitoring height changes. Thanks to these sensors, the robot will not be able to fall down the stairs.
The front wheel is made of black plastic with good elasticity. This plastic alternates with white, which is less elastic and more rigid.
The axles of the drive wheels are located on the same diameter of the body circumference. This is done so that the vacuum cleaner can freely turn around in place without moving around the area. These wheels have plastic tires on hinges with springs, which make it easier for the vacuum cleaner to overcome obstacles.
Pros of the model
You should know! iLife A40 has a number of advantages:
- Compact dimensions allowing the robot to drive under low furniture and into other hard-to-reach places.
- Good quality floor cleaning . After the vacuum cleaner finishes working, there are no dusty areas left.
- Powerful battery that allows you to clean a large area without recharging.
- The presence of a turbo brush that effectively cleans both smooth surfaces and carpets.
- Low noise level even in high suction mode.
- The kit includes spare consumables and a remote control.
- The optimum ratio of price and quality.
Modes
The robot has 4 of them:
- in auto mode, the automatic cleaner vacuums all available space with normal suction power, not forgetting long-pile surfaces, corners and surfaces under furniture;
- in the “borders” mode, it runs along the walls, cleaning with particular care near the baseboards and in the corners;
- spot. When turned on, the gadget cleans a specified limited area. He begins to remove from the center, moves in a spiral, gradually increasing the radius;
- maximum, i.e. when the device cleans at maximum power. This is relevant for places of heavy pollution.
In addition, the vacuum cleaner can clean at a strictly programmed time, which is very convenient. To activate it, just set the desired time using the remote control. The device will do the rest on its own. True, it is impossible to set a cleaning plan for the entire week, but given its low price, this cannot be demanded.
Instructions for using the gadget
First of all, you need to connect the docking station to the outlet so that the charger is on the floor near the wall .
Only in this case will the gadget be able to connect to it independently.
Important! There must be no obstacles 2 m ahead and 1 m to the right and left of the charging station.
Otherwise, the robot will not be able to correctly navigate in space.
To start working, you must press the power button on the control panel . After this, you need to select a mode using the remote control :
- Automatic – suitable for daily floor cleaning. It is enough to turn on the robot so that it orients itself in space and builds the optimal route of movement.
- Perimeter cleaning - the vacuum cleaner moves along the walls, paying attention to the space near the baseboards and corners. Infrared proximity sensors help the gadget avoid collisions with obstacles.
- Spot cleaning allows you to thoroughly clean the dirtiest areas. iLife A40 will easily remove spilled cereals, granulated sugar, and small debris.
- The maximum power is designed for cleaning carpets or very dirty floors.
Before you start cleaning, you should make sure that the dust collection container is installed.
Note! To schedule a cleaning time, you need to press CLOCK on the remote control, and then set the required values using the arrow buttons.
The settings will be saved after pressing CLOCK again.
The ILIFE A40 home robot is a serious vacuum cleaner at a reasonable price.
The ILIFE A40 robot vacuum cleaner is not the first robot vacuum cleaner from ILIFE, which is officially sold in Russia (and so far only in Russia), but the company’s first robot, which, in addition to cleaning regular hard floors (tiles, laminate), is specially designed for cleaning thick carpets. And in fact, there are not many such robots, and carpets in our apartments are a common occurrence, and ILIFE offers a universal solution for keeping floors and carpets clean with one device. All that remains is to test his abilities and tell about his impressions. Hero of the occasion close-up
Traditionally, let's start with the characteristics of the passport:
Manufacturer and model: ILIFE A40 Dimensions: 310mm*76mm Weight: 2.2 kg Supply voltage: 14.4V. Battery: 2600 mAh, LI-ION Charging: less than 300 minutes, automatic charging Operating time: 120 minutes Waste container capacity: 450 ml Cleaning modes: automatic, scheduled, edge, spot (local), maximum Cleaning type: dry , CyclonePower
Delivery set:
Robot vacuum cleaner, docking station, 19V 0.6A power supply, remote control, batteries for the remote control, spare filter, two spare side brushes, brush cleaning tool, operating instructions and quick start (incl. in Russian), warranty card.
Everything listed was placed in a box, which in turn was placed in a slightly larger shipping box - a reasonable solution to preserve its presentation until it is received by the buyer.
The box contains inscriptions in various languages, including Russian. It is also pleasant to note that the instructions contain completely understandable Russian and the user should not have any questions about operating the robot; it is obvious that the ILIFE company cares about its Russian-speaking customers.
Appearance and device.
Of course, the appearance of the vacuum cleaner is very memorable and beautiful - it is almost all white. The top is covered with white tempered glass, and there is also a single “Clean” control button.
On the sides along the entire perimeter there are many sensors (10 sets) of obstacles and walls covered with dark glass. At the front end there is a movable damping part with a rubber strip that protects furniture from impacts and scratches. There are also sensors on the bottom - cliff sensors (so as not to fall from stairs or hills), large drive wheels, a small wheel, a V-shaped brush for cleaning carpets and hard floors, and two side brushes. The trash container is located at the rear end and can be pulled out with just two fingers, convenient and easy. There is also an anti-jam sensor, bringing the total number of sensors to 21.
The robot itself is similar in design to a modular design. It is well thought out, everything can be easily and simply unfastened, the waste container can be easily pulled out, the brush can be easily removed and cleaned.
I measured the dimensions with a tape measure, for some millimeters may matter: diameter 307 mm, height from the floor to the highest point 73 mm - i.e. The actual dimensions are slightly smaller than stated, which is of course good. In general, the whole appearance reminded me of heroes from a completely different area that I even did a little photoshop.
Operation and features.
First, it’s worth talking about the functionality and differences of this model from other robots. The ILIFE company itself positions this model as an inexpensive device for apartments and houses with carpeting. For deep cleaning of carpets, a special V-shaped brush consisting of bristles is used. There are also two side brushes, but the manufacturer claims that they were very scrupulous in choosing the stiffness and length of the bristles, so that they do not deform over time, and at the same time efficiently perform their tasks - pulling out debris from the depths of the carpet. The robot uses a Nidec brushless motor, it is economical and quite quiet in operation and at the same time powerful. All this together is called the CyclonPower system, specially adapted for cleaning thick carpets.
The robot is capable of operating in several modes: Automatic - standard operating mode for everyday cleaning, normal suction power, vacuums all available space, including carpets, under furniture and corners. Along the borders - or you can call it “along the perimeter”, in this mode the robot moves along the walls, cleaning especially carefully near the baseboards and in the corners, under the furniture. Can be used when dust has accumulated and after normal use you need to go through the corners more carefully. Spot - allows you to clean a specific area on the floor, for example where something was spilled. The robot begins cleaning from the center of the desired area, moving in a circle and gradually increasing the radius. A convenient mode when you need to quickly tidy up a specific place. MAX - maximum suction power, useful, for example, when cleaning heavily soiled carpets or floors with a scattering of heavy debris.The vacuum cleaner is also capable of cleaning at a given time; to do this, you just need to set the start time from the remote control and the vacuum cleaner will do everything itself. It will not be possible to assign a work plan for, for example, an entire week, but for such a low cost this can be forgiven. Using the remote control, you can control the robot like a radio-controlled toy; you don’t have to drag the robot to the cleaning site yourself; the vacuum cleaner can, with the help of your commands, independently get to the desired position.
Well, now you can proceed directly to using the robot in a real environment.
With the arrival of children and animals in the family, the carpets became noticeably dirtier. Dust, wool and debris appeared every day, it became more difficult to keep them clean, although they were regularly “worked out” with a regular vacuum cleaner and all the carpets were dry-cleaned every six months/year. And of course, as soon as the ILIFE A40 appeared in the family, the robot was immediately thrown into battle with the thickest and densest carpet, approximately 15 mm high.
Of course, I understood that the vacuum cleaner would find garbage; no one cleaned the apartment on weekdays; general cleaning, as usual, was planned for Saturday. But I didn’t expect such a result... One room with carpet took a full container, but you can see it in the photo. To be honest, I didn’t expect the robot to collect so much. Yes, the carpet was littered with debris, a particular problem was the hair of a shedding pug, which is almost impossible to rip out of the carpet with a regular vacuum cleaner; you just have to go through the pile of the carpet to get everything out of it. And the robot succeeded; it actually works with its brush on the carpet pile and cleans it. As a result, the carpet became really clean. But not only the carpet, but the entire floor, I was especially pleased that the robot worked under sofas, the height of which is 75 mm, i.e. close to the height of the robot. Now there is nowhere for dust to hide in the apartment, and previously it was not possible to clean under the sofas very often.
Do you often get to such places where dust accumulates? The robot does this every day. And as a result: My wife honestly washed the floors and vacuumed, and I didn’t expect to see so much garbage. The carpet really became clean from dust and wool. Of course, there are still hairs and dried debris that can only be removed with your nails; no vacuum cleaner can handle this, but the fact that the carpet has ceased to be a dust collector, and the MAX mode came in handy here, is beyond doubt, the volume of collected debris speaks for itself, the robot The vacuum cleaner really does the job completely. In subsequent times, during daily cleaning, the tray was barely filled completely after cleaning the entire apartment, and this is an indicator of efficiency. All tests with scattered rice and cereals are just a test, like the synthetic Anututu test for smartphones; work and results in a real environment are much more revealing, at least at home I was able to verify this. With the first launch, I checked the operating time after a preliminary full charge. In total, the vacuum cleaner worked continuously for 125 minutes, which is 5 minutes more than the stated 120, but! out of 125 minutes, he worked for 45 minutes in MAX mode, in which the suction power is doubled. Those. theoretically, it could work for about 145-150 minutes in normal mode (which was later confirmed, on average it worked for about 135-140 minutes) - well, a decent indicator.The glass loggia also became a testing ground for combat testing of the robot. The floor is wooden with cracks and not very level. There is all kinds of garbage there - all kinds of tools are stored, dry putty-putty-plaster mixtures are stored, dust blows in from the street through the window, etc. Those. The floor of the loggia periodically becomes covered with a layer of dust and it is better to go out on such a floor after cleaning. Since the loggia is narrow, the most suitable mode turned out to be “Mode along the borders,” or along the perimeter. In this mode, the robot moves along the walls in a clockwise direction.
The robot completely cleaned the loggia in three passes, approximately 8 minutes. At the same time, he sucked out the debris from the cracks and cleaned it with brushes in the corners and near the walls.The kitchen was also cleaned on the tiled floor. The robot boldly rolled under the kitchen unit, swallowing all the crumbs and wool, leftover animal food, etc. Of course, the kitchen is a place where the floor needs to be washed, but housewives will appreciate that now there is nothing dragging behind the rag and under the furniture, chairs and table, garbage, wool and hair have been pre-removed and it has become much easier to clean. The robot, bumping into the legs of tables and chairs, delicately cleaned around them, moving along a radius. As practice has shown, there should be as few things as possible on the floor in an apartment, especially socks and rags; the robot can twist them around the brush, after which it will squeal pitifully calling for help. It is also worth removing wires from the floor and things that could change the height between the floor and furniture so as not to interfere with the robot. I also came across the opinion that a lot of hair gets wrapped around the side brushes and it’s difficult to remove them later, but this only happened to me during the first complete cleaning of the apartment, then the problem went away, I cleaned the container every two days and there was almost no tangled hair. What I also noticed and found interesting was that sometimes the robot moved along the perimeter of the carpet, as if cleaning the edge, but I don’t know if it’s so smart or if it just seemed to me. He handles curtains and tulle carefully, the robot approaches it, but almost doesn’t touch it, it doesn’t try to get under them, it just carefully bends around it, taking into account the “relief”. After completing work or running out of battery power, the robot automatically returns to the docking station to recharge. There are no mistakes, sometimes he gets lost for a long time while getting out of distant rooms, but the result is always positive. Personally, I chose the tactic of limiting the cleaning space, let’s say the hall and corridor, children’s bedrooms and their corridor, closed the doors where necessary and the vacuum cleaner works. I also set a timed cleaning task, and it was interesting to watch on home surveillance cameras how the robot rummaged around the entire apartment in the absence of the owners.
Summarizing.
Robotic vacuum cleaners are generally not cheap, and of course the first question that arises is - is it worth it? Here, probably, everyone will decide for themselves, many factors influence, but I came to this conclusion. ILIFE A40 costs 8840 rub. at the start of sales on TMALL - it is very cheap for devices with similar capabilities, in fact, there are only a few models capable of cleaning a thick, dense carpet, and in our country almost every family has carpets. Of course, many will begin to object that the robot will not replace a real Buran or Raketa vacuum cleaner, and in general it does not wash the floor. But no one says that the robot is a replacement for wet cleaning and big brother, but the main thing that the robot can provide is daily cleanliness on the floor, the absence of debris and hair. Like many other pet owners, I am tormented with the hair that is always there with normal cleaning methods, only 1-2 days are clean, and adding two children is the end of cleanliness, they tug at the animals, and litter, and there are crumbs everywhere. With the advent of the robot, I noticed that the usual wool on socks is becoming a thing of the past. A robot is the only way (except for a personal cleaner) to maintain constant cleanliness on the floor in the house, it is useful for allergy sufferers, it will greatly help older people who cannot clean the floors all the time, personally, I will definitely give such a device to my parents, it’s already difficult for them. My wife also realized the obvious benefits of a robot vacuum cleaner when she washes the entire 4-room apartment on weekends - the water in the bucket can be changed less often, and there is no heap of wool, dust and debris trailing behind the rag. The house has become really cleaner and that's a fact. Regular cleaning is the essence of robotic vacuum cleaners.
I will list the pros and cons, starting with the pros:
+ Price, it is really not expensive for its capabilities + High quality cleaning of floors and carpets + Long operating time on one charge + Automatic charging + Cleaning at the appointed time + Large trash container, easy to clean + Low noise, you can watch TV and talk (sound sleep will not wake you up) + It is possible to set a work plan for a week at once, only one task + Official guarantee and service in the Russian Federation
About the guarantee and service
Disadvantages (to be honest, for such a price, 8840 rubles, there are none, but): - I would like to build a map of the area
Well, as a conclusion - my wife and I were very pleased with the result of using the ILIFE A40 robot vacuum cleaner, ILIFE A40 can definitely be recommended for purchase, even at the price without discounts.
A personal small apartment is also beneficial for the cat
Thank you all for your attention) All the best)
