Features of Moulinex multicookers

For your information! The French brand produces kitchen appliances designed to suit any budget, multicookers are no exception. The simplest model can be purchased from 3,500 rubles.

However, the quality of the product is always at its best. Mulinex follows innovations, actively implements new programs and technologies to ensure that their devices are modern and functional.

Features of the devices:

  1. Keep warm (this function is available in all models, it turns on automatically).
  2. Delayed start (a person only needs to add food and set a timer; when the time is right, the multicooker will start cooking).
  3. 3D heating (includes several heating elements, which are located not only at the bottom, but also on the sides, which ensures uniform heating of the bowl).

All about the multicooker Moulinex CE 501132

People who lead a healthy lifestyle, mothers of small children and those who do not have time to cook will definitely appreciate the functionality of the Moulinex CE 501132 multicooker. Since this model is a multicooker pressure cooker, food will cook much faster than in a conventional multicooker.

Working principle of the kitchen assistant:

  • put the necessary products into the bowl;
  • close the lid tightly;
  • turn on the desired mode;
  • wait for the dish to cook.

The device is very easy to use. Therefore, you can safely purchase equipment as a gift for an elderly person.

What to look for when choosing?

Stay up to date! There are several aspects that you should pay attention to when purchasing this kitchen appliance:

  1. Capacity of the bowl (the larger it is, the more food you can cook at one time).
  2. Housing material (plastic can smell unpleasant when heated, so choose metal).
  3. Power (depends on container size).
  4. Design (it is important that it fits into the interior of your kitchen).
  5. The presence of a removable lid, a valve for steam release and the bowl itself (this will simplify the care of the device).
  6. Control system (remote - via smartphone or regular push-button).
  7. Functionality (number of programs, pressure cooker or bread machine function).

Model features

The main distinguishing technical feature of the Mulinex CE 503132 multicooker from other products on the market is its combination with a pressure cooker. Although a regular multicooker makes the cooking process easier for the housewife, it does not cook much faster in terms of time.

Mulinex went further, now cooking occurs under pressure created due to the tightness and valve system; inside, with the help of steam, increased pressure is created. This allows you to reduce cooking time by almost half.

More precise temperature control occurs due to two temperature sensors: one on the bottom, the second on the lid. The inner bowl is quite massive, 2.5 mm thick, with a non-stick ceramic coating.

On the inside of the bowl there is a scale for the number of cups and a maximum volume mark that cannot be exceeded. Bowl size: diameter 220mm and height 140mm, which gives us 5 liters of maximum volume, but taking into account the height limitation, no more than 4 liters of liquid.

The tightness is ensured by a special rubber o-ring on the inner cover; this will most likely be the weak link in the entire system. Rubber, no matter how high-quality it is, will lose its properties over time due to steam and pressure, the fit will be less tight, and it will begin to hold pressure less well. In the instructions, the manufacturer writes about replacing tires after two years, but where can you get them after two years? You can hardly find it in stores. Then what, change the multicooker?

Instructions for use

Of course, each multicooker has its own instruction manual.

Keep in mind! There are several general rules that will teach any person how to use this device, namely:

  1. First application. Do not add food when you turn on the multicooker for the first time. Just pour water into a container, add a spoonful of soda and turn on any program. This will keep the device clean and help you avoid any plastic smell in your dish.
  2. Do not start the program if the bowl is empty and dry. This creates a risk of it burning out. First add water or oil.
  3. Correct loading of products. The container should be filled no more than ¾ full . Otherwise, your dish will smear the lid and spill over the edges.
  4. The washing up. Do not use hard brushes or metal scrapers to clean the container. Teflon or ceramic coating is very fragile and can be easily damaged.
  5. Do not touch the body with wet hands. There is a risk of electric shock.
  6. Unplug the device after preparing food. This way you will protect yourself from the possibility of fire.

Review of the Moulinex ce502832 multicooker - the classic pressure cooker that everyone imagines it to be

Equipment from the French manufacturer Moulinex (since 2002 it has been part of the French Groupe SEB, which also owns the brands Krups, Rowenta, Tefal) does not often come to us for testing. However, the fact that this is one of the few European brands that has not yet completely moved production to China cannot but arouse interest. I remember once we were convinced that even the inscription “Made in France” does not necessarily make a meat grinder good. Today we are exploring a “French” multicooker, made in China after all.

Equipment

The packaging looks like completely standard packaging for small household appliances. The inscriptions in Russian and Ukrainian seem to gently hint to us at the main target audience (spoiler: although the instructions also contain Kazakh).

Having opened the box, inside we found:

  • the actual multicooker-pressure cooker with a bowl installed in it;
  • condensate container;
  • steaming stand;
  • plastic spatula;
  • beaker;
  • power cord;
  • manual;
  • recipe book.

At first sight

The design of this multicooker-pressure cooker is the most classic classic - from the shape of the body and control panel to the rotating handle on the lid. To the question “is this good or bad?”, we would answer that it is good: predictability and familiarity in kitchen appliances are qualities that can only be welcomed.

At the back there is a pocket for installing a container for collecting condensate and a classic “computer” connector for the power cord. The presence of a container, by the way, is pleasing - recently, many manufacturers of multi-cookers, in order to save an incomprehensible penny, forget about this option, as a result of which the body has to be wiped more often than we would like.

At the bottom we can see four legs (of which, for some reason, only the back two are equipped with anti-slip inserts) and a number of ventilation holes. However, with a weight of almost 6 kg (without contents), this multicooker stands confidently on the table and is in no hurry to slide anywhere on it.

By the way, with such a weight, I would like to say a special thank you for having a normal and durable folding handle for carrying.

The design of the steam valve, as we have already mentioned, is absolutely classic. On the rotating handle, if you look closely, you can see a round button for forced steam release.

The valve itself can be easily disassembled and assembled - this is important, because it would be a good idea to wash it from time to time.

The bowl, according to the manufacturer, has a wall thickness of 2.5 mm and a 4-layer ceramic non-stick coating. As always, the 5-liter volume stated in the documentation is “under the edges,” and up to the Max mark on the inner wall it holds 3.5 liters.

Instructions

Printed materials in this case are divided into 3 parts: separately - the user manual, separately - the warranty card, separately - the recipe book. The user manual is trilingual (Russian, Ukrainian, Kazakh), it is made in the now fashionable format “first, all the pictures are the same - then explanations for them in different languages.” Let's hope that this saves paper, since the ergonomics of such instructions are lame on both legs.

However, inquisitive minds will thank the user manual for the fact that it is equipped with detailed tables explaining the features of setting all available cooking modes, including automatic ones - options for duration, temperature and even the position of the lid. Not every manufacturer considers it necessary to share this information with the end consumer, and in some cases it is noticeably lacking.

The instructions are accompanied by a book with six dozen recipes. They are quite diverse and are designed to teach you how to use different modes of the device in order to further diversify your menu yourself. The recipes are compiled quite satisfactorily - the dishes that are indicated in them will actually be obtained by implementing the recommended programs. In our opinion, for culinary neophytes, this book can generally serve as the basis for a rather long series of breakfasts, lunches and dinners.

The recipe book contains a duplicate table of temperature modes and cooking times, which shows all the parameters of each mode, as well as the position of the lid during cooking.

Control

Looking at the control panel of the multicooker for the first time, we said in unison: “Oh...” And we were not mistaken.

The point is not that it is particularly complex or illogical - on the contrary, most of the points can be dealt with at the level of intuition, without resorting to instructions. It’s just that the further you go, the more you get the impression that two completely independent teams were involved in the development of this user interface, and it was a third that brought everything together into a single whole.

However, after fiddling around for the first half hour, you gradually get used to the controls and even begin to find the beginnings of common sense in it. For example, when you press the “Stew” button, you immediately get to the top line menu: “Vegetables - fish - poultry - meat”. Then you just need to choose one of four points. Logical? Logical and fast. And stewing is one of the most common tasks for a multicooker.

The remaining lines can be accessed using the “Menu” button; then it is proposed to use the “↓” button, as well as “−” for the “left” role and “+” for the “right” role for selection.

The mysterious "Texture" button switches gradations from "soft" to "hard". We will return to this control, which is not explained in any way in the instructions, in our practice tests.

Like any self-respecting multicooker, Moulinex ce502832 can delay the start (at least 2 hours, maximum at least a day) and turn off the automatic heating at the end of the cooking process. This is important: we came across multicookers in which the heating was always turned on automatically and could be turned off only after it turned on.

Exploitation

Although the control panel was considered somewhat overloaded with information, the controls turned out to be easy to master, and the operating process was quite comfortable. No special actions were required before the first start, except that it would be a good idea to remember to assemble the multicooker by inserting the valve for steam release, the condensate tank and the bowl into the places provided for them.

Otherwise, working with Moulinex ce502832 is similar to using any other multi-pressure cooker. One of the features worth noting is the fact that after cooking, steam can be artificially released using a button on the handle of the lock - this is not a quick process and it can take several minutes, but it is still a salvation relative to models that do not have this feature.

The second feature is the presence of modes without blocking and, accordingly, without pressure. With the help of the “multi-chef” you can get almost any dish that is available in a regular multi-cooker “not a pressure cooker”. This, for example, will appeal to fans of super-transparent broths, which cannot be obtained under pressure, and will also be useful when you need to do something so quickly that the build-up and release of pressure inappropriately delays the process instead of speeding it up. However, there are also limitations: the step when setting the temperature is as much as five degrees. For a modern multicooker in this price category, this is too much.

Care

It is traditionally suggested to wipe the case with a damp cloth, under no circumstances allowing large amounts of water to get inside.

After each cooking, remove the inner lid and wash it under running water, possibly with a mild detergent. It is not recommended to wash in the dishwasher.

Disassemble the steam valve, rinse the detachable parts under running warm water, dry and reassemble.

The bowl, steaming stand and spatula are dishwasher safe.

Our measurements

In idle mode, a multicooker connected to the network consumes 1.2 W. The maximum power consumption recorded during the entire test period was 950 W.

Practice tests

Fried potatoes with mushrooms

To begin with, we decided to try the recipe from the included book. It left us a little distrustful of how likely it was that the desired dish would turn out to look like the picture.

We took 4 large potatoes, an onion and 300 grams of a mixture of forest mushrooms (porcini, boletus, chanterelles, caps and boletus). We chopped all the ingredients according to the recipe, poured vegetable oil into the bottom of the bowl and placed our products there.

The lid was closed, but not blocked, and the frying mode was set to 20 minutes. The recipe recommends stirring after the end of the regime, but we couldn’t resist and stirred once in the middle. As a result, we received not a fried, but a stewed dish - the potatoes did not brown almost anywhere, even in places of contact with the bowl.

However, it was already possible to eat it - the dish was not beautiful and to call such potatoes fried would, of course, be disrespectful to the product, but everything had time to simmer under the lid until cooked.

We added another 15 minutes of frying to the dish, setting it not to the standard 160, but to the maximum 170, opened the lid and stirred the potatoes and mushrooms a couple of times during the frying process. The result was as expected: it was already exactly what we were going to get, that is, fried potatoes with mushrooms and onions. Due to the preliminary stewing under the lid, the slices, of course, softened and broke during stirring, but they were still delicious.

Result: good.

Duckling with cabbage and prunes

Here we are testing two interesting points: how well you can fry in our ward and how convenient it is to work with the pressure cooker function.

We chopped up a small duckling weighing about a kilogram and cut a small onion into quarters. We fried pieces of poultry and onions at the maximum frying mode and were very pleased: frying at 170 coped with even such a significant mass of contents, the power was enough for everything to be fried and not to be covered, for example, with water (a common problem when frying in multicookers).

Then we added sauerkraut and a handful of prunes and turned on the stew mode. We chose meat as a product, the texture was soft. Go stew the duck! The lid is locked.

The multicooker does not show the remaining time and only flashes red lights running in a circle until it reaches the required pressure.

The pressure build-up lasted less than 15 minutes and the extinguishing process took about 40 minutes. Then the multicooker released the pressure and started heating, waiting for the tasters.

The duck turned out ready, so cooked that the bones themselves separated from the pulp, saturated with the juices of cabbage and prunes. We noted as a minus the inability to look under the lid without wasting time releasing pressure and building it back up. The advantage is undoubtedly speed: cooking a duck in 40 minutes to such a degree of readiness without a pressure cooker is, of course, unrealistic.

Result: excellent.

Turkey thigh with different textures

We have already mentioned that the control panel of the device under test is, in our opinion, somewhat overcomplicated. In fact, any mode in any multicooker is a combination of temperature and heating duration; if there is a pressure cooker function, pressure is also added.

We took two turkey thighs of similar weight, salted both, sprinkled with hot red pepper flakes and a mixture of dried herbs.

Add a little oil, a glass of apple juice and a teaspoon of dry garlic granules to the bottom of the multicooker. One piece was set to stewing poultry with the most firm texture, the other - as soft as possible.

The difference turned out to be only in time: the pressure build-up lasted the same in both cases: about 13 minutes, the temperature, according to the instructions, in this mode is always the same, it cannot be changed.

A piece of the so-called hard texture turned out to be slightly pinkish inside, the meat was not overcooked, it absorbed the taste of spices and apple juice, retained its shape when cut and was suitable, for example, for sandwiches or salad.

Result: excellent.

The piece of soft texture turned out to be tasty, but overcooked: when served, it could not be cut, but disintegrated into fibers, reminiscent of stewed meat in appearance. At first we wanted to reduce his rating for untidiness, but there were tasters who passionately defended this particular meat and literally forced the commission to admit that it deserved an excellent rating.

Result: excellent.

Flaki (Polish tripe soup)

This Polish soup, like all folk dishes, is prepared from simple and inexpensive ingredients, but it takes a lot of time to prepare. There are several versions, ours is one of the closest to the classics. The soup consists of beef tripe, shank and two dressings: vegetable and flour.

Usually tripe requires 5-6 hours of boiling. We placed a piece of beef shank (more than a kilogram, mostly bone) and tripe weighing about 800 grams into the multicooker bowl. Added onion, peppercorns, hot pepper, bay leaf and salt. We didn’t find a ready-made jellied meat mode, so following the jellied meat advice from the recipe book, we set our future soup on the stew/meat mode for 1.5 hours and locked the lid.

It turned out great: in an hour and a half, the tripe and shank were in such a state as if they had been boiled for 6, or even 8 hours in an ordinary saucepan.

Separately, we fried a couple of tablespoons of flour, then diluted it with broth and got a sauce. After disassembling the meat into pieces and cutting the tripe, we combined the meat, vegetables and sauce into the soup.

Result: excellent.

Roast beef sous vide

Since the multicooker is equipped with a Masterchef function, which can maintain low temperatures, it can be used as a yogurt maker or, for example, a sous vide with reduced capabilities (the temperature setting range is as much as five degrees).

To test the convenience of this function, we started sous vide beef roast. A piece of thin edge was vacuumed and set at 60 degrees.

Alas - for 4 hours, the device cannot do more. This makes it even less sous vide, but we didn't give up and at the end of the first 4 hours we put them out again. The piece weighed a little over a kilogram, but I had to literally stuff it into the slow cooker.

We cooled the result obtained under running cold water and, without removing it from the bag, placed it in the refrigerator.

A few days later, the meat was fried to give it a golden brown crust for a minute on both sides. Then we put it in the oven for another 10 minutes - no more needed, the meat is already ready.

When serving, the bone was cut off, and the meat was cut into slices, garnished with a salad of Crimean onions, tomatoes and bell peppers, capers and balsamic sauce.

Result: excellent for the cook, average for the appliance.

It was juicy, aromatic, melt-in-your-mouth meat, but the capabilities of the tested multicooker cannot be compared with a full-fledged sous vide, even though the ability to cook at low temperatures is stated.

conclusions

Overall, the device turned out to be pleasant to use. The somewhat overcomplicated control system turned out to be quite convenient after getting used to it. The device coped well with the tasks assigned to it during testing, especially captivating testers with its efficiency and ease of operation in the pressure cooker mode and convenient frying temperature.

However, there are also disadvantages: the control panel is initially intimidating with its richness, and in the “masterchef” function, which allows you to set settings manually, the step is too large (5 degrees). From a modern multicooker in this price category, I would like a step of 1 degree and the ability to set a long cooking time (at least 24 hours, not 4).

pros

  • efficient pressure cooker mode
  • ease of use
  • presence of a recipe book
  • good quality of fulfillment of all tasks assigned during the testing process

Minuses

  • Quite a high price for the functionality available
  • step too large (5 degrees) in the “masterchef” function
  • overcomplicated and not always obvious controls for beginners
