Comparison of Huawei MateBook and Samsung Galaxy TabPro S tablets
The runaway success of Microsoft's Surface line of tablets has shown that the iPad's dominance in this market sector is not as strong as once thought. Now other brands have the opportunity to create worthy competition.
Among the Windows 10 2-in-1 tablets, there are some that could make a truly powerful breakthrough. These are new products for 2021 - Huawei Matebook and Galaxy TabPro S. Their capabilities are almost the same, but each of these devices is unique in its own way.

Design
Both models – MateBook and TabPro S – are quite thin devices. But Samsung still manages to stand out by offering a tablet that is just 6.3mm thick, while the Matebook only boasts 6.9mm. However, taking into account all the parameters, we can conclude that the TabPro S is slightly larger than its competitor. In any case, both gadgets are designed for easy and comfortable work on the go, and they are very convenient to carry with you.
At Mobile World Congress 2021, where the MateBook was showcased, many experts praised the tablet's "gorgeous" design. There is no doubt that this device is well designed and built, but the keyboard as an accessory leaves much to be desired.
On the other hand, at the Consumer Electronics Show 2021, the TabPro S tablet impressed everyone with its excellent display. Agree, it's easy to accept the fact that it is too big if the compensation for this is a first-class screen.
In general, the MateBook has a unique aesthetic; the device borrowed some features from the Apple design school, but such an obvious imitation of this brand hardly added individuality to the tablet.
The winner in this category is MateBook.
Power and performance
On most counts, the MateBook beats the TabPro S, offering better specs but at a higher price. 8 GB of RAM and 512 GB of internal memory is a very attractive offer for the buyer. Samsung has currently limited its product a little in this regard. The RAM is no more than 4 GB, and the maximum amount of internal storage is 256 GB.
However, modifications with 4 GB of RAM may not be suitable for those users who plan to use this hybrid gadget instead of a laptop. In this sense, Huawei can offer much greater opportunities.
But the TabPro S still has an ace up its sleeve. If we talk about battery capacity, Samsung is slightly ahead of its competitor. It is the 2 in 1 tablet model that offers longer battery life and a less powerful processor, which ensures relatively long operating time.
The winner in this category is MateBook.
Widget from SocialMart
Camera
In terms of functionality, the TabPro S is significantly ahead of the MateBook. Both tablets have a 5-megapixel front-facing camera, but while Huawei only offers fixed focus, Samsung boasts autofocus. In addition, only the TabPro S has a rear camera.
The winner in this category is TabPro S.
Screen
Both tablets are equipped with a screen with the same resolution of 2160 x 1440. Their dimensions are also identical, the same applies to the pixel density - 216 per inch.
What sets the displays of these devices apart is the technology. The Matebook offers an IPS display, while the TabPro S uses Samsung's proprietary AMOLED panel. And although the latest device has more advantages in terms of screen, as smartphones from this brand have already proven, there is practically no difference in screen parameters.
The winner in this category is a draw.
Price and Availability
The base price of the MateBook is 799 euros. Even if we take into account that Huawei offers several configurations of the model, you will have to buy accessories separately: keyboard – 149 euros, stylus – 69, docking station – 99. You will need to invest additional funds in the tablet so that it meets your needs.
Samsung TabPro S offers a keyboard included in the box. The cost of the basic version (Wi-Fi and Windows 10 Home) is 999 euros.
The winner in this category is MateBook.
To sum it up, we can say with a clear conscience that Huawei's MateBook looks like a clear winner. This device has already managed to stand out from its competitors. Its technical features are quite good, which will certainly give Samsung a lot of trouble.
Either way, both devices are good enough not only for their target audience, but for anyone who needs a tablet that stands out from the crowd.

Which tablets are better: Samsung or Huawei - comparison
Performance
Samsung
Samsung Tab C4 runs on Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 chipset. A powerful 8-core processor with a core frequency of 2.35 GHz and 4 gigabytes of RAM allow the device to handle quite demanding games. The graphics are handled by the Adreno 540 GPU.
Lenovo
Lenovo is equipped with a processor from Intel. Processor model: Atom x5 Z8550. Yoga Book YB1-X91F has 4 gigabytes of RAM.
Huawei
Huawei MediaPad M5 is equipped with four gigabytes of RAM. The processor responsible for the operation of the gadget is HiSilicon Kirin 960. It has 8 cores. 4 cores with a frequency of 2.36 GHz and 4 - 1.8 GHz. Unlike the devices described above, the Huawei processor is the oldest. It is presented back in 2021.
All three devices boast good hardware. They all handle demanding games.
Camera
Samsung
The C4 model is equipped with a better camera than previous Samsung models. The only negative is the lack of stabilization. Although taking photos with a tablet is not the best option, the pictures come out quite high quality.
The main camera is 13 MP, the front camera is 8 MP. Video recording occurs in UltraHD 4K at 30 frames per second.
Lenovo
Lenovo's main camera, unfortunately, is not as high quality as Samsung's. Its resolution is 8 MP. The front camera has only 2 MP.
Huawei
The situation in Huawei is already a little better than in Lenovo. The main camera is the same as Samsung’s, 13 MP. With the front camera - the same - 8 MP. Huawei records video in FullHD quality at 60 frames per second and UltraHD 4K at 30 frames.
In this parameter, Lenovo lags behind Samsung and Huawei.
Autonomous operation
Battery capacity is undoubtedly an important factor to consider when choosing a device.
Huawei
Huawei MediaPad M5 8.4 is equipped with a 7500 mAh battery. This allows the gadget to withstand 10-13 hours of continuous operation. If you use the device intermittently, it works for about 23-24 hours. Watching movies in FullHD quality reduces the operating time to 8 hours.
Samsung
The battery capacity of the Samsung Galaxy Tab S4 is 7300 mAh. The tablet supports fast charging. Watching movies at maximum display brightness completely discharges the gadget in 13 hours.
Lenovo
Lenovo Yoga Book YB1-X91F boasts an 8500 mAh battery. During active use, the device is discharged in 10 hours. This is an excellent indicator. The only devices that can compare with the Yoga Book YB1-X91F in terms of battery life are the iPad Pro 9.7 and Google Pixel C. With less active use of the gadget, it lasts for two days.
Display
Huawei
The diagonal of the tablet is 8.4 inches. There is also a 10.8-inch version. The device is equipped with IPS LCD matrices, and the resolution is 2560x1600 pixels, with a ratio of 16:10. Multi-touch supports up to 10 simultaneous touches.
The color rendition of the display is rich. However, the brightness range is not as wide as we would like, and gray shades look unnatural.
Samsung
The best AMOLED screen makes itself known. The brightness range is wide, with rich colors. You can customize the RGB balance for yourself, or select a ready-made preset. The kit also includes a stylus. It is comfortable and feels like a ballpoint pen. This is a huge plus.
Lenovo
The gadget is equipped with a 10.1-inch display. For some it will be too small. However, for long trips, 10.1” is the best option. The display resolution is FullHD, and the brightness is 421 cd/m2.
Some colors are too bright. There is no option to adjust the RGB balance. It is inconvenient to use the device in sunny weather. The display has a lot of glare.
Design
Huawei
The device is produced in two colors: gray and gold. The front side is covered with strong tempered glass with an oleophobic coating that repels fats. The back side is metal. The thickness of the device is 7.3 mm.
On the case there is a USB On-The-Go Type C, two or four speakers, slots for nanoSIM and microSD, front and main cameras, a power button, and a rocker button for adjusting the volume. There is no standard 3.5 headphone jack. An adapter is included for this purpose.
Samsung
The appearance of the Galaxy Tab S4 is strict and laconic. The back cover is made of tempered glass Gorilla Glass 5. The only drawback is the constant presence of fingerprints on the back side.
On the right side there is a power button, a volume rocker and slots for a nano SIM card and a microSD drive.
On the left there is a connector for connecting a keyboard.
On the bottom edge there are speakers, USB type C with On-The-Go function and a headphone jack (3.5 minijack).
At the top end there are two speakers and a microphone.
The back side is most often covered with the user's fingerprints. At the top is the main camera, below it is the flash. Even lower is the Samsung inscription. On the front side, above the display, there is a front camera and an iris scanner.
Lenovo
The device is sold in two colors: gold and anthracite. The body is made of strong material - metal. Its thickness is 9 mm. The corners are slightly rounded. The keyboard does not detach from the case.
Ports and communications are located not on the tablet, but on the keyboard. On the left side there is a USB port, a SIM card slot, a slot for a microSD drive, a mini-HDMI port and speakers.
On the right side there is a power button, a mesh for air outlet, speakers, an air control button and a headphone port (3.5 minijack).

The best cheap Huawei tablets
Of course, low cost is one of the most important advantages for many buyers. Fortunately, today's budget tablet model can have some pretty impressive specs. It may be very different from luxury flagships, but almost everyone can afford such a purchase. To help you choose an inexpensive and high-quality tablet from Huawei, we list several models that fully meet these requirements.
Huawei Mediapad T3 7.0
This lightweight and compact tablet can accompany its owner everywhere and always. First of all, due to its low weight - only 265 grams. This is indeed a very good indicator, making work even more comfortable. The tablet screen diagonal is 7 inches. Moreover, its size is 1024x600 pixels. All this makes this model a good choice for reading books. Another important advantage is the high battery capacity, as much as 4100 mAh. You can work quietly for a long time without thinking about the need to recharge the device. Many users will like the metal body. Thanks to it, the tablet fits perfectly in your hands, and even if it is accidentally dropped or other mechanical loads, it will not crack, unlike plastic ones. Both cameras - front and rear - are frankly weak, only 2 megapixels. However, for tablet computers this is the rule rather than the exception - very few models allow you to take more or less high-quality pictures.
Advantages:
- reliable metal case;
- high-quality screen;
- large battery;
- light weight;
- 3G support;
- affordable price.
Flaws:
- weak cameras;
- small built-in storage;
- low productivity.
Huawei Mediapad T3 8.0
If you are looking for a good and inexpensive tablet for watching movies, then pay special attention to this model. On one side, the device has a medium-sized screen - 8 inches. Moreover, its resolution is 1280x800 pixels, which provides high-quality images. On the other hand, its cost in most stores is up to 10,000 rubles. Therefore, you don’t have to spend too much money when purchasing. It’s nice that there is a pretty good camera – 5 megapixels. The front one is weaker - only 2 megapixels. The metal case reliably protects the insides from impacts. Functionality is another strong point of the tablet - there is a built-in accelerometer, GPS and GLONASS sensor. If 16 GB of internal memory is not enough, you can always use an additional card, increasing the memory to 128 GB. The battery is also quite good - 4800 mAh, which is enough for 10-12 hours of active work.
Advantages:
- good loud speaker;
- stable LTE module;
- The battery lasts a long time;
- good camera;
- reasonable price;
- original design;
- stable work.
Flaws:
- scratch-resistant display;
- There is no function for automatically adjusting screen brightness.

The most powerful tablet
In each case, you get flagship-level hardware. But the Apple iPad Pro is ahead of the rest in this case. Its processor is simply insanely powerful. Not everyone will need it, but even under load the tablet works just fine and responds instantly. For example, when processing RAW photos, video editing, and even in games. We can thank the Apple M1 chip for all this.
Additionally, the tablet has up to 16GB of RAM and is the world's first tablet with 2TB of internal storage . True, this version costs more than 200,000 rubles , but if you are willing to pay that much, then why not. It runs iPadOS, the Samsung Galaxy Tab S7+ runs Android 11, and the MatePad Pro comes with an offshoot of HarmonyOS 2.0. There is nothing to talk about them for a long time. They're the best you can find on Android (or close to it), but they're not as good as the iPad.
The new iPad Pro simply puts Android tablets to shame. Or not?
