Sony 3D TVs 2011

Following this, we moved on to the Sony stands, where it was proposed to evaluate 3D on the XBR-HX929 TV, for which glasses with an active shutter were fixed in a strictly defined area (stationary).

The picture turned out to be very spatial. Game and sports TV shows in 3D format, as well as films and music videos were broadcast at various stands. Even though this marvel of Japanese manufacturing managed to captivate my attention and captivate me with its content, I was still a little disappointed that we weren't given the chance to see what it all looked like in high-speed action in Sport mode. It’s even funny, but the content of the “sports” TV show was reduced to showing female models in swimsuits. Everything happened so slowly that it was not possible to test the quality of work with fast-moving objects on the screen. However, it is worth noting that this particular 3D swimsuit show looked better than all other content on all Sony displays. But, nevertheless, static images are much easier to display in three-dimensional format.

At the Sony booths where film clips were shown, at times I noticed some blurring in the lower left and right corners of the screen, and overall I was not happy with what I saw. I liked being in the section with 3D gaming content, although this part was given little space in the program.

Sony, by the way, turned out to have the most beautiful 3D TV - 24″ OLED 3D TV, which does not require glasses. It looked amazing and had great detail, black levels and color rendition. Unfortunately, it was only a prototype, which the company does not intend to sell yet.

Samsung 3D TVs 2011

Samsung hasn't done much in terms of presenting new 3D TV models. The guys from South Korea have done a good job of attracting public attention to their new ultra-light 3D glasses with active shutter, which they recently launched. In contrast to the weighty and thick models of yesteryear, today's glasses come in a variety of colors and with very thin arms. There are even special corrective 3D glasses for people with poor vision.

Only two series of LED TVs were put on display next to each other - D8000 and 75D9500. The glasses in this case were not stationary, i.e. at least you can be sure that this is exactly what the 3D will look like when the TV ends up in the buyer's home. Personally, I wasn't very impressed with them. In some scenes with picturesque underwater landscapes, the depth of three-dimensionality was a sin to complain about, but when bright underwater flashes of light began to flash in the field of view of my eyes, and then the topography of the ocean floor sparkled because of them, it was so confusing that I could hardly bring myself to look at this picture further.

It was also demonstrated how Samsung TVs cope with converting 2D video to 3D and, as in all other cases, the result did not arouse much interest.
