Installing a dishwasher in the kitchen section

Before installing the dishwasher, you need to measure the opening again. Make sure that the machine body fits freely into the section you prepared.

All built-in dishwashers - 45 cm and 60 cm - must have a small gap between the walls. It is also needed for normal air ventilation after the machine is running.

Remove the back wall in the niche. There should be free space to accommodate hoses and wires. Check that there is a protective plate under the tabletop. If it is not there, then install it.

After this, insert the machine body into the niche and adjust the extendable legs so that the dishwasher box is horizontal to the ground.

To do this, use a building level. This is necessary so that the dishwasher (60) does not break down prematurely. The built-in equipment will then easily fall into place.

Determine in advance where to attach the screws to secure the machine body. If necessary, drill small holes. They are useful for ease of entry of the self-tapping screw into the furniture body. Or use a screwdriver.

Which 60 cm freestanding dishwasher should you choose?

First of all, of course, you should pay attention to the dimensions of the dishwasher and decide whether it will be a built-in or free-standing device.

And if you have already chosen a traditional freestanding dishwasher with a width of 60 cm, then you need to study the following characteristics of the device:

  • water and electricity consumption - the lower these indicators, the more economical the device will be;
  • the number of sets of dishes that the device processes in one cycle - as a rule, full-size machines “at a time” wash from 10 to 15 sets of dishes;
  • variety and sufficiency of built-in programs - if the owner prefers dishes made of thin glass, then the machine requires a program for delicate dishes, and if there are allergy sufferers in the family, then it is worth purchasing a machine with water heating up to 75°C and above;
  • type of drying - condensation (when water flows into the pan) or more modern and convenient turbo drying (blowing with hot air);
  • multi-stage security system , including protection against leaks, voltage surges, accidental pressing of buttons during operation of the device, etc.;
  • additional functionality - a beam on the floor, a delay timer, a variety of detergents, etc.

Determination of location and dimensions

Before purchasing a PMM, you first need to decide in which furniture niche it will be located. This determines what size dishwasher you will need to buy.

It is best to take care of the location of niches and their purpose at the stage of designing the kitchen interior. To do this, use a simple rule: the dishwasher and washing machine must be located next to communications (electricity, water supply and sewerage).

Types and dimensions of dishwashers

All PMMs are divided into three types: built-in, partially built-in and free-standing. The last type is the easiest to connect to communications, since the device can be moved around the kitchen. Installation of built-in appliances will be the most difficult.

Built-in PMMs are divided into:

  • full-size, width from 54 to 60 cm, height from 80 to 86 cm, depth from 54 to 63 cm;
  • narrow, 44–45 cm wide, 80–86 cm high, 54–63 cm deep;
  • compact, 54–60 cm wide, 43–60 cm high, 49–60 cm deep.

As you can see, integrating a dishwasher into a finished kitchen is not so easy - you need to select the PMM according to the size of the niche.

These models do not have external wall design, and the front panel requires installation of a façade lining (the buttons and display are located at the upper end of the door). The facade should be ordered from the craftsmen who will make kitchen furniture for you.

Partially built-in dishwashers are located in niches under the countertops. Their control panel is located on the outside of the door. As a rule, such models are not decorated under the facade of the kitchen.

Instructions for calculating the size of the opening

In order for a full-size dishwasher to fit correctly in a cabinet niche, it is necessary to properly calculate the dimensions. When planning, it is best to create a sketch, especially if you have a small kitchen.

For example, you have your eye on or have already purchased a dishwasher with a width of 598 mm, a height of 818 mm and a depth of 545 mm. In order for the device to fit well into the opening, the gaps between the body panels and the walls of the furniture should be about 5 mm.

This means that the width of the niche must be at least 608 mm (598 + 10). The opening height is calculated taking into account that the gap between the table top and the top panel should also be about 5 mm. Here you should add another 5 mm to the height of the adjustable legs of the PMM.

The result is 828 mm (818 + 10). The depth of the niche should be calculated, not forgetting that the inlet and drain hoses, as well as the electrical cord, come out of the rear panel. Therefore, for their normal installation, a gap of approximately 100 mm will be required.

If this distance is less, there is a possibility of pinching the hoses. Therefore, the depth of the opening should be 645 mm (545 + 100). The drawing below shows the calculation of the dimensions of a niche for a narrow built-in dishwasher with a width of 448 mm, a height of 820 mm and a depth of 570 mm.

In any case, when going to the store to buy a dishwasher, you should have a tape measure with you and calculate the size of your furniture niche, if you already have one.

Using the above method and knowing the parameters of the opening, it is easy to calculate the dimensions of the PMM and select a model based on them. Ideal if you already have a washing machine and dishwasher, but have not yet ordered kitchen furniture.

Then you can accurately design openings for them and correctly install the dishwasher in the kitchen unit. But this approach will require more financial investments and will be quite troublesome.

Which company should you choose?

Among premium-segment dishwashers, future owners should pay attention to devices manufactured by such well-known and reliable brands as the Italian SMEG, which produces quiet and innovative appliances, or the German companies NEFF (high quality at a fairly low cost) and Kuppersbusch (efficient operation for a long time). 10-15 years).

Among dishwashers in the mid-price segment, the best manufacturers are considered to be the Swedish brand Asko and well-known German concerns - Siemens and Bosch.

Each of these manufacturers produces a wide range of models of high-quality and reliable dishwashers in various price categories.

The best budget dishwashers are produced by Indesit and Electorlux . Despite the reasonable price, devices from these brands are distinguished by decent quality, good reliability and optimal functionality.

What models of built-in dishwashers should I pay attention to?

Let's look at some brands of dishwashers and the features that are typical for certain models. Everyone can easily figure out how to choose a suitable dishwasher.

Bosch and Siemens

Products from Bosch have become one of the most widespread on the market. Depending on the operating modes and main parameters, dishwashers from this manufacturer can be divided into several main groups:

  • Advanced options, with 6-8 basic programs and additional functions.
  • Optimal models are designed for 5 standard programs.
  • Basic models, with 3-4 washing programs.

Here are some examples of models with basic capabilities:

  1. SMV 48
  2. SMV 47L10.
  3. SMV 30D They are all included in one or another top dishwashers.

It is the last option, 30D30, that has the highest noise level. This figure for a dishwasher reaches 52 dB. The device spends 14 liters of water on washing sets of dishes intended for 12 people. Electricity consumption is 1.05 kW per hour. Supports three modes - normal and fast, economical. The remaining detergent and the completion of the current program are recorded on special indicators. The model belongs to the budget class, therefore it is protected from leaks, but partially.

Dishwashers with four programs from the same series can be called more reliable.

  • The model with the designation SMV 47L10 is designed for 13 sets of dishes.
  • SMV 48M30 holds 14 sets.

Water consumption has been reduced in machines to 12 and 10 liters per cycle, respectively. A noise level of 46 dB is typical for the 48M30 model. The machine selects the washing time and the desired program itself, based on the results of the built-in sensor.

There are other models with low noise levels - SMV 59T20, and 59E10.

Features Siemens

An example of partially built-in models with external facades is Siemens SK 76M544. She only needs 8 liters of water to clean 6 sets of dishes. The protection system is complete, the noise level is only 46 dB. Six programs are enough to ensure washing at the highest level of quality. The machine is well suited for small kitchens.

There are other options worth considering:

  1. SC 76M522.
  2. SN 64d0760.

Developments from Hansa

ZIM 628 EH is a fully built-in model. In 140 minutes it can completely process a set designed for 14 people. This requires only 12 liters of water. The noise level does not exceed 47 dB, which is a very good indicator. Interesting is the support for as many as 8 programs for washing dishes of different classes.

The machine supports regular washing tablets and other types of detergents.

Electrolux

Here are two examples to consider:

  • ESL 6380 RO . Loading 12 sets, refers to fully built-in dishwasher models. To wash dishes, owners can choose one of 6 supported modes. If necessary, pre-soaking can be activated without any problems. The operation is very quiet, you don't have to worry about it even at night. There are holders for glasses, several types of indicators, color signals about the status of work on the floor. The only thing that is not fully supported is the leakage protection of this dishwasher.
  • ESL 6810 RO . Also a fully built-in dishwasher. But its characteristics are slightly better compared to the previous version. The noise is only 42 dB, so the device is practically inaudible during operation. 10 liters – water consumption for processing 12 sets. The camera works with convenient backlighting, the number of working programs has been increased to 8. The dishes become clean and dry thanks to the turbo drying program.

SMEG

The equipment from this brand has its own advantages, which most buyers will appreciate:

  1. Possibility of installing a built-in dishwasher in units with profiles whose height is greater than usual.
  2. The manufacturer offers not only classic cases for dishwashers. There are options that are combined with non-standard layouts. These are special horizontal structures. An excellent option for wall-hung, built-in kitchens,
  3. Exclusive orbital washing system. All models of built-in dishwashers have a system that makes water consumption more efficient.
  4. The machine capacity is up to 14 sets. An additional box for dishes inside makes using the built-in dishwasher even more convenient.

Beko

This company is also known for several developments that increase comfort during operation of built-in dishwashers.

  • SteamGloss. To ensure shine and perfect cleanliness for each utensil inside the dishwasher. When the wash is finished, heat is used inside the hopper to process the dishes.
  • GlassShield. One of the latest developments, which is increasingly being introduced into modern models of built-in dishwashers. Designed to provide extra care for fragile glass items. The durability of such built-in dishwashers increases 20 times thanks to this feature. All that remains is to set the switch to the water hardness level. The dishwasher itself will select the best option, depending on the current conditions.
  • AquaIntense . This is the name of the additional movable arm on built-in dishwashers, which is also involved in the cleaning process. Installed from the bottom. Everything that is loaded into the bunker will be washed.

conclusions

User opinions may differ regarding certain models of built-in dishwashers. Some people make excessive demands from the very beginning. Someone has something to compare certain purchases with. The most positive aspects are noted by those for whom a car is the first purchase in life. Equally important is what conditions are met when installing and operating a built-in dishwasher.

There are a large number of dishwashers on the market up to 60 centimeters wide.

Recently, buyers have been paying a lot of attention to additional and basic functions, including dishwasher drying. The number of supported programs for a built-in dishwasher determines how much the device will cost. Therefore, it is necessary from the very beginning to determine the needs and acceptable level of spending. Installation costs and further maintenance of the built-in dishwasher are taken into account. It is important to pay attention to the detergents used. The more choice, the better.
