Where are LG refrigerators made?
When choosing household appliances, the buyer wonders where LG refrigerators are assembled. The manufacturer is, whose main facilities are located in South Korea, in the Changwon industrial zone. The most expensive devices (functional, with a large number of electronics) are created here, since the plant has the capabilities to develop new technologies and carefully control production processes.
The remaining products are assembled at enterprises in Russia, India, China, Indonesia, Mexico and Poland.
The decision to open a plant outside of South Korea is made subject to two conditions: the presence of a large market and its own characteristics. Thus, Europeans prefer products with a bottom freezer, because they consider this arrangement to be the most practical. Americans like two-door models assembled in the United States. Regardless of which country the production is located in, all factories are similar to each other: assembly lines, employees in scrubs, stands for testing for drops, temperature and mechanical impact.
The company's products are distinguished by high energy efficiency, functionality, silent operation, stylish and modern design. Refrigerators are assembled from high-quality components and environmentally friendly materials that are safe for the health of people and pets. The total number of devices created by LG reaches 10 million per year (excluding other household appliances).

Decoding of various models of LG washing machines
Washing machines from LG Electronics have special markings that can be used to determine the technical parameters of a particular model. Let's look at an example of decryption.
Deciphering the names
The labeling of washing machines puzzles many buyers. Standing in a store, people wonder about the purpose of this or that model and cannot choose the right one. They also cannot understand why identical-looking cars differ in price by almost one and a half times. Even their names are similar, but the cheaper one does not have the coveted letter “N” at the end. Consultants in regular stores may not be very competent. And nowadays, online trading is gaining enormous momentum. When purchasing a product online, there is often no opportunity to talk to a consultant, so you have to choose on your own.
Here is an example of deciphering the name of one of the LG washing machines for those who have decided to purchase.
Let's consider one of the most popular models - LG F-1096SD:
- F (can also be letters M or E) - indicates that the machine is front-loading. There is also a vertical one, but LG does not produce such models. Vertical loading is more convenient for loading laundry, and front loading is an excellent solution for a small bathroom, because the top of the machine can be used as additional storage space.
- The number 10 means the speed (maximum) of rotation of the drum when using a spin cycle. That is, 10 is 1000 rpm. There are 12, 14 and 80. They indicate 1200, 1400 and 800 rpm, respectively.
- 96 – design of a washing machine (appearance of a certain group of models).
- S – designation of the depth of the device. Our model is super narrow (only 35 centimeters). Instead of S, there is often a W. This is how wide cars (from 60 centimeters) are designated, but recently even cars with a depth of only 45 centimeters are marked with the same sign.
- D – direct drive, that is, the motor is connected to the drum of the machine. It's called Direct Drive.
LG washing machine name structure
Our example does not have the following notation, but there are models with the following functions:
- S – the ability to create steam (the presence of a steam generator) entering the drum, due to which things are cleaned better.
- H – presence of drying function. Many LG washing machines do not have this function, but there are models where the dryer is combined with washing.
Features of LG washing equipment
In general, all the machines that are on the market are similar to each other. There is only one method of use: things are placed in a drum, powders and conditioners are poured in, the drum is rotated, and the laundry is washed using washing powder mixed with water. However, LG produces special models: they are characterized by a unique drum rotation mode, depending on the type of fabric and the degree of its contamination. This makes the removal of stains and dirt very effective and the wear and tear on the fabric is significantly reduced.
There are a total of 6 functions in the machines, they are usually called the “Six Care Movements”:
- The first is called “Reverse Rotation”. When using it, water fills the machine in the form of a vortex. This makes the washing process more efficient.
- The second function is “Saturation”. Designed for long-term washing of large quantities of items. The detergent penetrates thoroughly into fabrics and removes dirt better.
- “Wiggle” is a function for delicate washing. When using it, weightlessness seems to be created, and the laundry almost does not touch the walls of the drum, which ensures very neat washing.
- The fourth function, called “Twisting,” is unusual due to the appearance of microbubbles during washing, which speed up the cleaning of things. There is another plus - things roll on the drum, rather than jumping. This makes washing less noisy.
- “Smoothing” is the fifth function that allows you to save time on ironing. Inside the drum, the laundry does not bunch up, but straightens out as much as possible. After washing, you can simply shake the items and hang them to dry.
- The last sixth function is called "Standard Rotation". This is the most common, classic wash.
LG refrigerator sizes
The company independently decides where to assemble refrigerators. The model range includes products with different characteristics and dimensions. Thanks to this, the buyer can choose the LG refrigerator that will fit into his kitchen or any other room.
The size depends on the number of cameras:
- Single-chamber. The width is 50 cm, the height is 50-120 cm. This category includes small refrigerators that are used to store food or drinks (as minibars). Some devices are equipped with built-in freezers.
- Two-chamber or two-door. They are in greatest demand, so they are collected at all factories. They are distinguished by well-thought-out functionality and ease of use. Sold with bottom or top freezer. Height varies from 110 to 210 cm, width - from 50 to 70 cm.
- Multi-chamber. They contain more than 2 chambers, each of which maintains its own temperature conditions (in some models, filters and deodorants are additionally installed). This allows you to store foods separately from each other, keeping them fresh for a long time. The only drawback of multi-compartment refrigerators is that they are large in size and are not suitable for small kitchens. The width of the devices varies from 60 to 120 cm, the height reaches 2 m.
How OLED TVs are assembled
LG, being a leader in sales of OLED TVs, produces many models at a Russian plant. LG's OLED technology features more than 8 million self-illuminating pixels, each of which can independently adjust its brightness to create deep blacks. The technology reveals a full palette of colors and reveals details, allowing you to view the image in vivid colors.
The TVs of the E8 and C8 series, produced at the LG plant near Moscow, have an α9 (Alpha) intelligent processor built into them. It analyzes the entire scene, separates the main elements and their boundaries from the background, then processes each object in the frame separately - as a result, the picture on the screen looks natural.
Speech recognition technology, which is equipped with LG OLED TV with AI ThinQ, makes it easier to access content and services - the TV listens to your request and gives an answer according to the meaning of the phrase, and not literally. Among the capabilities of the α9 (Alpha9) intelligent processor: setting the exact time to turn off the TV (timer), searching for weather information and necessary content.
The process of manufacturing and assembling OLED TVs is largely robotic. The quality test of the finished product begins with the conveyor line, where the image is adjusted and checked in a special area. Then, in a special room, all produced OLED TVs work continuously for 48 hours, coping with high ambient temperatures.
In the additional sound room, devices are checked for possible noise during their operation. TVs produced in Ruza are sold in all regions of Russia, as well as neighboring countries. During transportation, for example, to the northern regions, the car can pass through different climatic zones. Therefore, the plant has created a chamber in which various temperature and humidity conditions are simulated to test the reliability of the product.
A special crash test simulates the stresses encountered during transportation: from strong vibration to a fall. Many homes are faced with a situation where a child can hang on a TV mounted on a bracket to the wall and drop it. For such cases, the LG factory carries out an additional check of the reliability of attaching the TV to the brackets according to the VESA standard: during the test, a load weighing 25 kg is suspended from the TV.
Marking of Atlant models
The markings of models from the Minsk company Atlant are shown in the diagram.
XM - refrigerator with freezer; МХМ – lower and upper location of freezers; M – household freezer
The series code carries basic information about the model’s equipment and design.
NMK – lower freezer; VMK – top location of the freezer. Static – drip cooling system. No Frost – dynamic cooling
The series code is also related to the design of the refrigeration appliance:
- Series No. 47 – Classic – discreet design in a minimalist style + door hanging function;
- №63 — Comfort – a laconic, strict design with transparent shelves and drawers inside and a self-diagnosis option.
- №42 — Compact - low, narrow appliances for small spaces.
- №№28, 40, 60 — Soft Line - rounded contours of the external design, slightly convex doors, ergonomic handles + a variety of colors.
- №18 — New Wawe — original design of external and internal elements in the shape of a wave, models are presented in white and silver.
The next two digits represent the model code, and determine its height and the number of freezers.
Models with NMC can have 2, 3, 4 compartments in the freezer, this depends on the production series
The last symbols in the marking provide information about the energy saving class, color, and design of a particular refrigerator.
Super fresh box is a special compartment with t° = 0°, where the shelf life of food is extended without freezing. Full No Frost - a defrosting system using a fan not only for the freezer, but also for the refrigerator compartment. Models without the letter N have a drip cooling system
Labeling rules for Samsung refrigerators
It is difficult to navigate the variety of Samsung refrigerator models, since the company does not adhere to the labeling rules for local series, which are traditionally followed by other manufacturers. The markings of the 2008 models are not similar to the markings of modern refrigerators: the rules change with the release of each series.
The label shows a high efficiency class (A+) for 4 models of the South Korean company; deciphering their codes will make it clear what the similarities and differences are between devices of this series
R | L | 4 | 8 | R | R | C | S | W |
R | L | 4 | 8 | R | R | C | I | H |
R | L | 4 | 8 | R | R | C | W | B |
R | L | 4 | 8 | R | R | C | M | G |
- The first letters “ R” indicate the name of the device - refrigerator, refrigerator; " Z" is a household freezer.
- The second letters indicate the location and purpose of freezers:
- L - appliance with a freezer at the bottom;
- T - Top Mount - a two-chamber unit with a freezer at the top;
- S - Side-by-Side location;
- F - French Door (French door) - a refrigerator with hinged doors without a jumper inside the chamber, with increased usable space.
- W - wine cabinet;
- Two numbers inform about the height of the models: “34” - 177 cm; " 39" - 185 cm; “48” - 192 cm; "55" - 200 cm.
- The first letter after the numbers carries information about the type of control of the refrigerator:
- S - mechanical control;
- “ E”, “ RR”, “ Q”, “H” - various types of electronic control;
- VQ - touch display
- VT - touch display + power consumption A+
- W — mechanical control with buttons + dispenser;
- VT - touch display + energy class A+
- TH - mechanical control + drip defrosting system.
- Letters E / C / B / G - reflect the type of handles on the refrigerator. In our example, all models have the letter C - external vertical handles.
- The last two letters indicate the color of the refrigerator:
- SW – white enameled;
- IH – plastic, painted to look like metal;
- WB – beige enameled;
- MG – silver.
After decoding, it is clear that the refrigerators of the given models are identical and differ only in color.
Compressor markings
The information on the compressor markings becomes relevant when the “native” unit for the refrigerator fails and a replacement has to be found. In this case, it is necessary to take into account the compliance of compressors by type of refrigerant, power, type of device and shutdown system.
The photo below shows a Danfuss compressor, model NLX15KK.2.
- The letter N ( options : R, N, F, S ) indicates the series of the device.
- The letter L (as well as R, C ) denotes a motor with internal protection.
- The letters of the third position: E, X, Y - indicate the operation of the device in economy mode.
- The number 15 after 3 letters indicates the performance of the compressor.
- The symbol K indicates the type of refrigerant - R 600a, it is shown on the red stripe of the label.
- The second letter K means that the compressor is suitable for refrigerators with drip cooling and low starting pressure LST (valve ones have the symbol X and pressure indicator H ST; universal ones have an empty field).
- The letters LBP on the red field indicate that the compressor is intended for refrigeration and freezing installations with temperatures from -10 to -35°.
Most European models use Danfuss inverter and piston compressors; Asian models use Lg linear units
Features of LG washing machines: pros and cons
Domestic production allows you to significantly reduce the price of models, but the reverse of the issue is the quality of the products: LG washing machines produced in South Korea undergo a more stringent quality control procedure.
Assembling washing machines in the Russian Federation, unfortunately, although it reduces the cost, does not reduce it in comparison with models from other companies. This is explained by the high cost of installed parts and the complexity of installing and setting up various technological features of LG brand washing machines.
A possible drawback in some cases may be the complete absence of top-loading washing machines in LG’s lineup. However, this need is more of an exclusive request than a permanent one: front-loading washing machines are much more convenient to use due to the space savings and convenience when removing washed laundry.
Although LG does not have “vertical” washing machines, we still suggest you read our article in which we compared front-loading and top-loading washing machines.
