TOP 10 inexpensive Xiaomi headphones for October 2021

Xiaomi produces more than just smartphones. The list of products produced by the Chinese company includes many items: from televisions to water hardness testers. And recently, Xiaomi management announced its desire to release its own electric car and oust Tesla from the Chinese domestic market.

Today we’ll look at inexpensive top-end Xiaomi headphones, among which there are very interesting models of wireless, including TWS, and wired headphones, characterized by good sound and the presence of innovative technologies.

In this top we have collected the best models of Xiaomi headphones at a low price that can be found on sale today. Among the models reviewed, there are mainly budget versions, but there are also premium models with the appropriate characteristics.

Haylou GT2

These TWS earphones were produced by a subsidiary of Xiaomi called Haylou. That's why they made it onto our list. Inside the black case there are dynamic drivers with a diameter of 7.2 mm. Therefore, the sound is quite good. To connect to a smartphone, a Bluetooth transmitter version 5.0 is used.

The included headphone case is equipped with a soldered USB cable for charging. The case's 380 mAh battery can even be charged from a computer's USB port.

Each earphone is equipped with a 43 mAh lithium-ion battery. The manufacturer claims an autonomy of 4 hours and a charging time of 2 hours. But using the case, the battery life increases to 15 hours.

The headphones have physical control buttons that allow you to change the track or answer a call. There are also good microphones installed: the interlocutor can hear you clearly. The only thing missing is the ability to adjust the volume.

You can call a voice assistant on your smartphone. However, the headphones only understand commands in Chinese.

Advantages:

  • Dynamic drivers 7.2 mm;
  • Bluetooth 5.0 transmitter;
  • Charging cable built into the case (will not get lost);
  • Capacious battery of the case;
  • High-quality microphones;
  • Ability to switch tracks by touch;
  • High quality plastic.

Flaws:

  • The volume can only be adjusted from the device;
  • Short battery life;
  • They understand voice commands only in Chinese.

Bluetooth 5.0: individual connection and stable connection

Another fundamental difference of the new revision is the use of a modern Bluetooth 5.0 communication module, separate for each earphone.

Thanks to this, everyone connects directly to the sound source, and anyone can be used as a mono headset. Either right or left.

An additional advantage is a noticeable reduction in latency and an increase in range: where conventional AirDots lost connection after just a couple of meters, the updated headphones consistently hold up to 10 meters .

Does not affect the connection and the presence of active Wi-Fi connections.

Well, the best part: if previously, prolonged viewing of films quickly revealed that audio and video were out of sync, then the second “dots” cope with this task one hundred percent.

Not yet for games, but it works stably and does not raise any questions.

Amazfit PowerBuds

Another subsidiary of Xiaomi. The Amazfit brand offers inexpensive and functional gadgets. But compared to other models in the miboom.ru top, these TWS headphones are the most expensive.

Amazfit PowerBuds come with 4 pairs of interchangeable ear pads for ears of different sizes (SS, S, M, L). For control, each earphone has a touch pad. A certain number of taps are required to change the track, increase the volume or answer a call. All gestures are configured on the phone in the Amazfit proprietary application.

The range of reproduced frequencies is from 20 Hz to 20 kHz. Driver size 9mm. There is a built-in gyroscope that turns off playback if at least one earphone is removed from the ear.

The sound in these TWS is quite good, helped by the proprietary bass enhancement system and passive sound insulation. There is a special mode that enhances ambient sounds and a system for improving speech clarity, which is useful when talking.

Amazfit PowerBuds can easily listen to both rock and electronic music. The autonomy of the earbuds is at around 8 hours. If you use the charging case, autonomy increases to 24 hours.

The manufacturer specifies charging time of only 15 minutes.

The headphones come with a charging case, ear hooks, a USB Type-C charging cable, silicone earbuds and a user manual.

Advantages:

  • Moisture protection class IP55;
  • Built-in gyroscope;
  • Great sound;
  • Speech improvement system;
  • Passive sound insulation;
  • Additional ear pads included;
  • High battery life;
  • Pulse reading sensor.

Xiaomi Piston 4

Inexpensive wired Xiaomi vacuum headphones of good quality. A special feature of Piston 4 is the presence of two emitters in one housing (reinforcement and dynamic). They are able to process different frequencies separately, so the sound quality is excellent.

The range of reproduced frequencies is in the range of 20-20000 Hz. Headphone sensitivity is 101 dB at an impedance of 32 ohms. Therefore, they are ideal for smartphones. The power of each is 5 mW.

The remote control has buttons for adjusting the volume and answering calls. The total weight is 14g, which is quite good. The body is made of metal.

The Kevlar braided cable does not tangle much and does not freeze in the cold. At the end of the cable there is a straight gold-plated connector. Xiaomi smartphones have a special installation for these headphones, which provides the highest quality sound (only on standard MIUI firmware).

The headphones come with three pairs of interchangeable ear pads for ears of different sizes. Piston 4 has the best sound among headphones in its price category.

They sound good. Now also for music

The first generation of fully wireless Xiaomi headphones did not differ in playback quality: overwhelmed lows, dull mids, dull lows.

AirDots 2 received new 8 mm drivers with neodymium magnets. Budget but high quality.

You shouldn’t expect anything serious from them, but now the quality of reproduction of average, and therefore human voices, is quite decent.

The interlocutors stopped complaining. Microphones cope with street noise, cutting out unnecessary noise.

There is no active noise reduction, but phone calls are now flawless when using one or two headphones.

Podcasts, videos, TV series - in these use cases, AirDots 2 work no worse than more expensive models. If you don’t compare with “ears” of 7-10 thousand, of course.

The situation with music is a little worse. The sound is optimized for youth, electronic music and hip-hop.

The bass is not rich, but quite clear and deep. Average ones are enough. It’s pointless to talk about their melodicism, but they are no worse than a successful average headset for a smartphone.

When using AAC instead of SBC, the headphones are completely at the level of mid-price models - there is a “top”, there is a good balance of frequencies.

Nothing surprising. But I don’t want to spit anymore.

Mi ANC Earphones

Advanced headphones with active noise reduction system. Mi ANC Earphones are ideal for use in noisy places: even in the subway you will only hear music and nothing else.

A Type-C connector is used to connect to the phone, so there is no compatibility with players. The power of each earphone is 5 mW.

High-quality dynamic drivers are installed inside, providing good sound. Thanks to this, the range of reproduced frequencies is in the range of 20-40000 Hz.

It is best to use Mi ANC Earphones to listen to music in Lossless formats: FLAC, APE, M4A, WV, WAV. Only in this case will the model be able to fully open up.

There is also a built-in microphone with its own noise reduction system. Therefore, in any case, the interlocutor hears your voice clearly, without unnecessary noise.

Wired Mi ANC Earphones are available in black and white. They have a control panel with the ability to adjust the volume, answer calls and pause the track.

The sensitivity of the headphones is 113 dB, which is quite good for a product of this type. The 32 Ohm impedance makes this model ideal for working with modern smartphones.

Advantages:

  • Active noise cancellation;
  • Universal remote;
  • Compatible with all Android smartphones;
  • Sturdy body;
  • Power 5 mW;
  • High-quality drivers;
  • Sensitivity 113 dB;
  • Noise canceling microphone.

Flaws:

  • USB Type-C connector.

Xiaomi Air 2

Completely wireless in-ear headphones that can provide good sound in almost any conditions. They are housed in a durable housing protected from dust and moisture.

Inside Xiaomi Air 2 there are dynamic drivers with a diameter of 14.2 mm, so the range of reproduced frequencies is within the standard range of 20-20000 Hz. Each earphone has a built-in high-quality microphone with a noise-canceling system.

The included Bluetooth 5.0 transmitter supports SBC, AAC, LHDC codecs, so the sound is quite high quality. Air 2 headphones are compatible with Xiaomi's proprietary voice assistant.

Battery life without using a case is limited to 4 hours, but if you use a charging case, autonomy will increase to 14 hours. The case and the headphones themselves are fully charged in 1 hour.

The Xiaomi Air 2 comes with a case and a USB cable for charging. TWS headphones can be charged either from the charger (if available) or from the USB port on a computer or laptop.

Each earphone weighs 4.2 grams, so there is no discomfort during prolonged use. High-quality plastic is used as the main material. The headset is compatible with Android and iOS.

Advantages:

  • Bluetooth 5.0 transmitter;
  • Support SBC, AAC, LHDC;
  • USB cable included;
  • Drivers with a diameter of 14.2 mm;
  • Earphone weight 4.2 g;
  • Not a bad microphone;
  • Compatible with iOS and Android.

Flaws:

  • The assistant only understands Chinese;
  • The shape of the headphones is not suitable for everyone.

Good ergonomics without any drawbacks

Despite the rather cheap appearance, plastic and not the most pleasant tactile sensations, Redmi AirDots 2 fit surprisingly well in the ears.

Why not? These are one of the lightest headphones on the market.

It is enough to choose the right ear pads (which have little effect on sound quality, to the credit of the developers), and they will turn out to be one of the most successful in terms of fit.

AirDots 2 are almost not felt, even if you wear them for many hours in a row: the shape is comfortable, you don’t feel the bulk, and the ear pads fit everyone.

Constantly wearing the only earphone from the set as a headset does not cause discomfort.

Even if you change places during the day, leaving one or the other “ear” on charge.

However, as before, AirDots cannot be used in training - if you don’t choose the ear pads and the load is variable, they will simply fly out of your ears.

It’s a pity that the controls remained in the form of mechanical buttons - of course, this is more reliable and cheaper, and often saves you from accidental presses.

But it’s inconvenient, and the button doesn’t allow for serious protection from the outside. The maximum that is stated is against dust and splashes .

And you shouldn’t even count on this: all versions of AirDots are afraid of sweat, rain and are not protected from high humidity.

Xiaomi Hybrid Pro HD

Hybrid Pro HD are unique hybrid wired headphones from Xiaomi. Their key feature is that in addition to the classic dynamic driver, there are reinforcement emitters. This allows you to hear the most correct and crystal clear sound.

There are 2 drivers inside the case: one dynamic and two reinforcement ones. Therefore, the range of reproduced frequencies begins at around 20 and ends at 40,000 Hz. An impressive figure. Thanks to the fittings, the sound is clear, detailed and balanced.

The headphone body is made of metal. There is even a bass reflex slot (not a fake one, but a real one).

The maximum power of the headphones is 5 mW, which is enough for any conditions. The 1.25 meter long silicone cable will not freeze in the cold and is quite difficult to tangle. This uses a straight gold-plated connector.

The complete control panel is equipped with 3 buttons. The two extreme ones are responsible for adjusting the sound, and the middle one pauses the track, mutes the microphone or answers the call.

The Xiaomi Hybrid Pro HD headphones sound convincing in any genre. But it is recommended to listen to music in formats without loss of quality: FLAC, APE, M4A and so on. The best results are achieved when using a smartphone with a dedicated DAC or a Hi-Res player (like Flio).

Advantages:

  • Three drivers inside;
  • There are reinforcement emitters;
  • Sturdy metal body;
  • Power 5 mW;
  • High quality microphone;
  • Convenient control panel;
  • Bass reflex.

Flaws:

  • Not all buttons work in iOS.

Mi Sports Bluetooth

Xiaomi wired sports headphones with ear mounts. Mi Sports Bluetooth is ideal for training and any physical activity. The remote control contains buttons for adjusting the volume, as well as a sound control button.

Inside the case there is a dynamic driver of good diameter. The frequency range is standard for a product of this level: 20-20000 Hz. The microphone is located on the wire connecting the 2 headphones.

The Mi Sports Bluetooth in-ear design provides passive noise cancellation. The set includes 4 pairs of interchangeable ear pads of different sizes, this allows the headphones to fit tightly in your ears. The resistance is 32 Ohms, so this model is ideal for smartphones.

The included Bluetooth transmitter complies with version 5.0 and fully supports the SBC codec. The body is made of plastic and metal. The acoustic design of this model is closed.

The built-in battery with a capacity of 100 mAh is enough to provide 7 hours of continuous operation of Mi Sports Bluetooth. There is also a USB cable for charging.

The total weight of the headphones is 17.8 g. The housing is protected from dust, moisture and mechanical influences. That is why they are ideal for sports.

Advantages:

  • High battery life;
  • Impedance 32 Ohm;
  • Bluetooth with SBC support;
  • USB cable included;
  • Set of replaceable ear pads;
  • Housing materials;
  • High quality microphone.

Flaws:

  • No AptX HD support;
  • Relatively heavy weight.

The headphones are supplied in a fairly large box made of high-quality cardboard. Usually you can find a phone in a box of this size, but not in this case. It is large because of its rich equipment, but we’ll talk about this a little lower. On the front side of the package are the headphones themselves and the manufacturers’ logo.

On the reverse side are the main technical specifications and there you can see a bunch of other information. Russian language is present. There is no information on the sides, top and bottom.

The package includes:

  • headphones;
  • case;
  • USB Type-C power cable;
  • four pairs of silicone ear pads;
  • three pairs of foam ear pads;
  • instructions;
  • warranty card;

Appearance

Let me start with the fact that the headphones are produced only in black. The case is made of matte plastic. I can’t say that it’s small, but it can’t be called big either. I'm glad that the charging case practically does not collect fingerprints. A light indicator is located on the front side of the case, which signals charging.

On the bottom there is a Type-C connector, and on the back there is wireless charging. The button is located on the right side of the case.

The impression from the case was very good, it is very pleasant to the touch and well assembled. There is also no play or squeaks. The lid mechanism is pleasant and moderately tight. The lid does not close spontaneously, and this is also one of the important parameters, since there are charging cases that you open and they immediately close.

The headphones themselves sit very tightly in the charging case. I find that taking the headphones out of the case is not very convenient. But there is no problem in this, I think that this is a plus for some. The headphones are light (each weight is 7 grams) and the cover, like the case, is made of matte plastic, but is only complemented by a small glossy insert where the touch area for controlling music is located.

The headphones fit quite securely in my ears, and I think they would be suitable for jogging. But I’ve heard a lot that many people fall out of these headphones during sudden head movements. By the way, I myself use standard silicone tips. With foam ones everything is fine too, medium sized ones fit.

Control buttons

The headphones have touch controls. Unfortunately, or maybe fortunately, the headphones support only two gestures:

  • hold, which switches the operating modes of the headphones (noise canceling, transparent mode, and so on);
  • double tap, with which you can accept a call, pause, or play.

It’s good that there is no single tap, since there would be many times more accidental clicks. You cannot adjust the volume using headphones.

Sound

The sound quality here is excellent. Pleasant, collected, balanced sound, although it is difficult for me to describe the sound. But I can say from myself that the sound here is decent. At maximum volume it does not wheeze, the sound is clear and the main thing is that there is a reserve of volume.

I didn’t touch the equalizer settings at all, that is, I listened to the music “as is.” But my friend thinks that the headphones don’t quite perfectly produce the high frequencies, but he thinks the mids and bass are all right. Let's now talk about noise reduction.

Noise reduction and transparent mode

An interesting point is that I couldn’t download the application, probably because I have the global version. Yes, I tried to scan the QR code on the back of the package, but it redirected me to the Xiaomi website and nothing else. Regarding noise reduction, they can say that it works well. It's really hard to hear what's going on around you with these headphones. In addition to the “noise reduction on” mode, there is also a “noise reduction off” mode, “transparent mode” and “wind noise suppression”, and all of them are accompanied by sounds when turned on.

The transparent mode also works with a bang; when you turn on this mode, you will hear a “ding” and you will begin to hear better what is happening around you. But in transparent mode with music at a volume of more than 40%, it will be difficult to understand the interlocutor.

Microphone

Mi Air 2 Pro has three built-in microphones. The quality of the conversation pleased me, the voice is transmitted well to the interlocutor, the sound is practically not distorted. The interlocutor even understood me when I talked to him next to the noisy vacuum cleaner turned on. I've seen some negative reviews about the microphone, but I don't think so. The built-in microphones really get the job done.

Conclusion

To summarize, what do I want to say? First of all, before buying, be sure to try them on, try them on, see how they fit in your ears. Because some of my friends have these headphones that fit unsteadily and can fall out at any moment. As for the sound, I was very pleased with it. Among the minuses I can note:

  • there is not enough quick switching between devices;
  • I didn’t figure out how to download the application, QR codes didn’t help (most likely they’re working on it);
