What does each symbol mean in the labeling of washing machines produced in the CIS countries? Here is an example of decoding the model - LG F1096LDSH:
- LG is, as many have understood, the name of the company.
- The next letter F of the marking indicates the type of loading - frontal. It is with this load that washing machines are common in post-Soviet countries. In LG front-loading washing machines, the hatch is located in the side of the body, and in vertical loading it is located on the top of the lid. Other letters such as M and E may be written.
- After the Latin characters we have numbers. The first two digits of the marking, in our case it is 10, indicate the spin speed. The numbers can be different, for example, 12, 16 and even 18. To find out the speed value, you need to multiply this number by 100. The quality of spinning things depends on the spin speed. But not all things will benefit from high speed.
- After this, we see an incomprehensible numerical value - this number serves to determine the design of the LG machine. The numbers may be different, it all depends on the external structure of the elements of the washing machine.
- The symbol L in this marking example indicates the average depth of the machine. The S value indicates very narrow machines, and on washing machines with a standard depth they indicate W.
- The next sign of the Latin alphabet (D) indicates that the washing machine has a direct drive, namely the motor is fixed without a belt and is located near the drum. LG does not produce washing machines with other types of drive, but the symbol D is still written on the markings.
- After the designation of direct drive, we see the sign S. This is the first letter of the LG washing machine marking from the English word Steam, which is translated as steam. It is not difficult to guess that S shows us that the washer has the additional ability to create steam. This is needed for better cleaning of things. It disinfects things well, especially when in summer there is a high risk of arthropods getting on clothes.
- The following sign of the Latin alphabet may not appear. This is additional functionality. Washing machines that have an extra H value on their markings can dry our clothes.
This decoding of the labeling of LG washing machines was valid until 2016. At the moment, there is a slightly changed labeling and the meaning of its indicators. How are values deciphered in modern models? Let's look at these changes.

- LG is the name of the brand of household appliances.
- The first two values remain the same. F indicates the load type, and the number 2 tells us the spin speed. As you noticed, the speed is now indicated by one number, since models with a spin speed of 1000 rpm are no longer produced. Now 2 means 1200 rpm, 4 means 1400 rpm, etc.
- The following value includes a letter and a number. This is a type of control system
- The next sign H of the LG marking does not indicate the drying function, but indicates the size of the washing machine. H – narrow machine, T, V – medium, C – deep.
- S – steam creation function, nothing has changed here.
- 2S – design and color. In LG washing machine models until 2021, the design was indicated by a numerical value and came after the spin speed. Now it is written at the end.

Decoding the labeling of LG washing machines from Europe
European labeling has differences compared to post-Soviet countries, but is not very different.
Here is an example of decoding the markings of the LG F14U2QCN2 model:
- LG – brand name
- The first letter indicates the type of loading, in our case (F) – frontal.
- Following are the numbers. Just like in Russian LG washing machines, this is the spin speed. 14 - 1400 rpm, 10 - 1000, 80 - 800 rpm. The main thing is not to get confused.
- After the spin speed comes a value consisting of a letter and a number. This is a type of management. In European countries there are two types - mechanical and sensory. In our example, the U2 marking symbols tell us that the washing machine is mechanically controlled. Sensor control is designated as U
- Next are three QCN markings. This is the presence of various functions in the LG washing machine. The first letter of the marking Q indicates the maximum load. C is the design of the machine. In this example it means Good. The last N indicates that there is no steam option. For washing machines with this function, S will be written instead of N.
- The last number is the color of the machine (body and door). The number 2 denotes LG machines with a white body and a chrome door. On some models, the color may also be indicated by a letter.
Possible faults
Most often, the cause of an imbalance error is a malfunction of the components responsible for rotating the drum. Here are the main problems that we fixed with the UE error.
Bearings are worn out - from RUB 3,000*
The drum, fixed to the shaft, rotates smoothly due to bearings. When they collapse, the drum loses stability, begins to dangle, knock and vibrate more during the spin cycle. First, the machine stops spinning, then the drum stops rotating altogether.
Although the bearings are hermetically sealed with a seal, over time it leaks. Moisture gets into the bearings, they rust and collapse. This happens due to regular overload of the machine with laundry or natural wear of the bearings.
When the bearings break, most often the LG washing machine shows a UE error during the spin cycle. If you look at the tank from the outside, turning off the back wall, you will notice rusty smudges on the tank from the location of the bearings. Grease from the oil seal and rust from bearings can get onto the laundry during washing and leave black oil or rust stains. If you shake the drum by hand, you will find play on the shaft.
HOW TO FIX
To eliminate the breakdown, it is necessary to replace the bearings and oil seal.
The tachometer or Hall sensor fails - from RUB 1,800*
This unit measures the rotation speed of the washing machine drum and transmits the data to the control module. A faulty tachogenerator does not respond to module signals or transmits incorrect data, so the LG washing machine stops and displays the UE code. The error most often appears during the spin cycle, when the engine does not reach the required speed, but it can also appear at other stages of the program.
HOW TO FIX
The tachometer needs to be replaced.
Belt stretched - from 800 rubles*
The UE message is issued when the SMA spins the laundry. It does not appear in every wash, but quite often. The cause of the error is poor contact of the belt with the shaft. The stretched belt slips, the drum jerks, and the LG machine cannot gain speed during the spin cycle.

Decoding the labeling of LG TVs
LG separates the markings of OLED TVs and TVs with conventional matrices, let's start with the latter.
1. The first thing we see in the model name is the diagonal of the TV in inches.
2. The diagonal is followed by the type of screen matrix installed on the model (“S” - Super UHD, Nano Cell matrix, “U” - UHD matrix, “L” - LED matrix, “E” - OLED until 2021).
3. Next comes the year of model development (“N” - 2021, “M” - 2021, “K” - 2021, “J” - 2021, “H” - 2021, “F” and “G” - 2015, “B” " and "C" - 2014, "N" and "A" - 2013).
4. After a year of model development, a series of televisions is launched. The series are presented quite widely and, depending on the year of manufacture, combine certain technologies. The series are tied to the type of matrix installed on a specific model and increase with cooler fillings. As an example, in budget models the series will be sixth, in models with a UHD matrix 7, in TVs with Nano Cell matrices 8 or 9, etc.
5. Following the series designation is a number that directly characterizes the model of the device in the series with certain connectors and technical characteristics.
6. The following markings indicate a change in the design of the model. Within the model, the manufacturer can change the type of stand, frame thickness or color of the device. It is this information that this designation carries.
7. Starting from 2021, the last 3 letters indicate the following parameters: the market for which the model was created (“P” - model for all countries, “W” - model for the Korean market, “S” - UK and Singapore, “T” - USA), type of tuners installed on the TV (“L” - DVB-T/T2/T2HD/C/S/S2, “U” - ATSC, Clear QAM, “N” - ATSC 3.0, ATSC 1.0), and model modification (currently only marked “A”).
7.1 For models 2021 and older, after modification of the model, the type of digital tuner “on board” the device was marked (“T” - DVB-T, “C” - DVB-C, “S” - DVB-S2/T/C, "V" - DVB-S2/T2/C, "0" - DVB-T/C).

1. TV diagonal in inches.
2. The abbreviation NANO, respectively Nano Cell, for greater recognition and quick identification of NanoCell TVs.
3. Next comes a series of televisions.
4. Model in series.
5. The first of the last three designations is the tuner type and regional standards.
6. Next comes the year of manufacture (“N” - 2020).
7. The designation of the model modification closes the marking.
As for the labeling of OLED TVs, it has changed slightly in 2021. Now the model name will look like this:
1. We immediately see the letters “OLED” - this means that the TV model has a matrix based on organic light-emitting diodes (OLED technology - Organic Light Emitting Diode).
2. Next is the diagonal of the TV in inches.
3. Behind the diagonal is a letter indicating the OLED TV model. It combines both technical equipment, technology support, and the appearance and design of the device (since 2018, a separate letter, paragraph 7, is responsible for design).
4. The next number, and in 2021 the letter, is the year of manufacture of the model (“6” - 2021, “7” - 2021, “8” - 2021, “9” - 2021, “X” - 2021).
5.1. After the year of manufacture there is a letter that, starting from 2021, indicates the region where the model was sold (“P” - Europe, USA, “W” - Korea).
5.2. Until 2021, this number indicated the type of tuner (“V” and “J” - DVB-T2/C/S2, “P” - ATSC, ISDB, “D” - DVB-T/T2/C/S/S2, “ T" - DVB-T2).
This is where the markings for OLED TVs 2016-2017 ended; the following markings apply only to 2021 models.
6. The type of tuner will be determined by the region of sale (“U” - ATSC, Clear QAM, “L” - DVB-T/T2/T2HD/C/S/S2, “N” - ATSC 3.0, ATSC 1.0).
7. The last letter indicates the design of the TV (as with regular TVs, one model may be produced with some changes in design).

Device size
Screen diagonal is indicated in inches. This indicator comes first in the series of alphanumeric marking codes. The LG 43LJ515V model has a diagonal of 43 inches (109 cm). The most popular LG TVs have diagonals ranging from 32 to 50 inches. It is recommended to carefully select the device in size, based on the dimensions of the room and the distance from which it will be viewed.
Screen type
The diagonal size is followed by a letter. Using it you can determine the type of matrix the model is equipped with. The “U” in the marking means an LED-backlit LCD screen with Ultra HD resolution. In 2021, LG introduced a new designation S - Nano cell technology (Super UHD), a premium range that uses quantum dot technology. The letter L indicates that this is a regular HD LCD screen.
The LG 43UH610V model has a “U” after the numbers. This means that this TV has an ultra-high screen resolution. Previously the following notations were used:
- P – plasma panel;
- C – liquid crystal screen backlit by a fluorescent lamp.
At the moment, these models are discontinued from sale and production. Today, TVs with the letter S in the marking are actively gaining popularity. Models with this backlight technology successfully compete with OLED screens.
OLED markings
From 2021, new labeling rules for LG TVs with an OLED matrix have come into force. For better recognition of such models, the name was placed at the very beginning of the code. As an example, consider the LG OLED 77W8 device. The numbers 77 indicate the diagonal size of the screen, and the combination W8 indicates that the TV supports 4K and was released in 2021.
