During polymerization, twice as much light is released, and less heat: the coating hardens much faster than UV models - in 10-50 seconds, but the nails do not heat up. One lamp is enough for several years of operation.
- Hybrid models are the most modern and combine different types of lamps: CCFL+LED and UV+LED. They polymerize any materials - acrylic, gel polishes, rhinestones and other decorative elements. The CCFL+LED hybrid is popular among craftsmen who work with a large flow of clients: the polymerization time is only 10−40 seconds. The UV+LED hybrid dries the coating a little longer – in 50-60 seconds. One of the most popular models is the UV+LED SunX 54W hybrid lamp.
- Another important parameter is lamp power , which affects the hardening time of the coating.
- For a 9 W lamp, the polymerization time of the coating will be on average three minutes - this is objectively too long and inconvenient.

- 36 W is the most popular model among nail experts. The polymerization time with it is no more than one and a half minutes.
- In beauty salons with a large flow of clients, it makes sense to use devices with higher power - 48, 54, 66 and 72 W. With them, the drying time is reduced to 40-60 seconds, but for home use such power is not justified.
- Frame. Manicurists and pedicurists use lamps for polymerization of the material every day and keep them at hand, so it is important that the devices are durable, made of high-quality and safe materials. This must be confirmed by a certificate, which must be included when purchasing the product. A professional lamp can withstand a heavy load, so you should choose the one that will last longer. For example, with a metal body - such models are more expensive than plastic ones, but have a number of advantages: they can be treated with chemicals for disinfection, are easy to wash, and the metal does not leave chips or cracks if the device is dropped on the floor.
- Additional functions. A good manicure lamp should have several useful additional functions.
- The timer allows the master to independently choose the drying time depending on what material he is working with. After polymerization is completed, the lamp emits a sound signal and the light inside automatically goes out. Typically the timer is programmed for 15, 30 and 60 seconds. The timer also needs a display so that it is convenient for the master to keep track of the time.
- The removable bottom is convenient when cleaning the lamp; it allows you to use one device for both manicure and pedicure.

Differences between CCFL, Led, UV and hybrid
Although they are different, they all emit ultraviolet light.
The main difference is with what intensity and what wavelength they do this.
Light in general is a very interesting thing. And many things that seemed an axiom to us in school can be quite surprising in adulthood.
The first two types of lamps are more or less clear. They use well-known fluorescent and LED light bulbs.
What is CCFL? In CCFL models, as a rule, there is one spiral-shaped cold cathode lamp, without an incandescent filament.
Its upper location does not always allow uniform polymerization. Often, the spiral does not dry UV gels well on the sides of the arched fingers.
CCFL+Led combines two technologies at once. Here we already have a hybrid lamp. But we’ll talk more about this a little later.

What is the fundamental difference between UV and LED bulbs? To understand this, take a look at the image below.
Here is the range of radiation and the difference in intensity and wavelength of these types. UV lamps have a wavelength from 280 to 400 nm. The ice is much shorter.
It turns out that ultraviolet lamps cover the entire range from mark 1 to mark 2 (see figure), but diode lamps do not.
A simple rule follows from this: if some material dries well in LED copies, then it will dry 100% in ultraviolet copies as well.
When this does not happen, look for an explanation in insufficient UV power or in a bulb that has lost its properties.
How to use a nail drying lamp
Correct use of the lamp directly depends on the quality of the manicure. You can see some recommendations for proper use below.
- First of all, you need to turn on the device to the network and check its functionality by pressing the power button.
- Next, you need to apply the material to your nails and press the timer button on the lamp.
- Then you need to fix your hand exactly in the glow area and wait for a sound signal or the light turns off according to the timer. On some models, you may need to press the timer button again to turn off the device.
- At the end, you must repeat the procedure on all nails and disconnect the device from the network.
Hybrid CCFL+UV lamp
However, speed is speed, but no less worthy results are shown by the so-called hybrid CCFL + UV lamps for nails.
They combine ultraviolet and diode light. Co-glow is useful when drying any capricious material.

It costs around one and a half thousand rubles. It has a compact shape and touch sensors. The timer here is for 10-30-60 seconds.
The bottom of the latest models is removable and magnetic.

In a hybrid, the varnish is completely dry and does not smudge. And in the ultraviolet there was shrinkage. There is nothing worse than dry polish.

The best mini versions of LED lamps from AliExpress
Mini lamps cannot be called universal equipment for drying gel polish. They are usually characterized by low power, so they are not suitable for all materials. When working with “heavy” gels, low-power devices have difficulty reaching the lower layers of the material, and it does not harden enough. And this is the main reason for reducing the wear time of the coating. The emission spectrum of such lamps usually does not conflict with the formulas of modern gel polishes. Therefore, miniature models are often purchased as travel versions of UV lamps.
