Tips for choosing

  1. When choosing a built-in refrigerator, you should pay attention to the defrosting system, because the kitchen set is made of wood or MDF. Equipment should not leak so as not to damage the furniture. The best option would be No Frost technology, however the price will be significantly higher.
  2. After delivery, it is imperative to check the device for functionality, even if it was hermetically packaged. To avoid additional time wasted on possible problems that arose during transportation.
  3. The parameters of the device should be selected depending on the kitchen furniture. Standard dimensions of a built-in refrigerator range from 1770 to 1800 mm.
  4. In order for the equipment to operate in energy-saving mode and not consume a large amount of electricity, it is necessary to choose an A++ class refrigerator.
  5. It is better to entrust the installation and installation of facades to specialists. They will be the ones who will be able to qualitatively insert the unit into the niche, without damaging the equipment and accessories.

How to choose and what to pay attention to?

When thinking about a refrigerator option, the buyer should take into account not only the brand of the unit. The quality of household appliances from well-known companies is confirmed by many positive reviews on user forums, but some models may not meet the necessary criteria.

Basic criteria for choosing a built-in refrigerator

To select high-quality and reliable equipment, professionals recommend taking into account the following model parameters:

  1. Dimensions . Be sure to take into account the depth of the pencil case so that there is a reserve of free space between the condenser and the wall.
  2. Defrosting system . The right decision is to buy a refrigerator with No Frost.
  3. Energy consumption . It is recommended to choose a class A+ model.
  4. Control type . A more convenient option is a mechanical thermostat located inside the device. With electronic control, you need to ensure that the panel remains within reach.

Manufacturers equip equipment with various options, but some know-how is not necessary and only increases the cost of the refrigerator.

Disadvantages and advantages of a built-in refrigerator

The advantages of units of this type include:

versatility;

efficiency;

quiet operation;

combination with the interior.

The peculiarity of built-in refrigerators is that some advantages can turn into disadvantages. The disadvantages of the units are:

Despite the compactness, when installing the equipment, it is necessary to ensure that there is a gap for ventilation. For this reason, some models may take up more space than conventional refrigerator options.

Energy costs are reduced due to thermal insulation, while they increase for compressor cooling. This feature minimizes energy savings.

Smaller usable volume compared to free-standing units.

High price. Their cost is an order of magnitude higher, and additional investments will be required for installation.

Considering the pros and cons of built-in appliances, we can say that when choosing such refrigerators, buyers have a choice between beauty and cost.

Advantages and disadvantages

To purchase such a device, you should familiarize yourself with various factors that will help determine the importance of the purchase. Built-in refrigerators have their pros and cons that affect the value of the unit.

Advantages:

  • efficiency;
  • possibility of placing equipment behind façade furniture;
  • beautiful aesthetic appearance;
  • practicality;
  • invisibility;
  • silent operation of the equipment.

Flaws:

  • the cost is higher than that of conventional units;
  • less capacity;
  • a design feature that must be taken into account when ordering a kitchen.

Important! Considering the listed factors, we can say with confidence that this type of device helps to save space in the room, but you will have to spend more money on its purchase and sacrifice capacity.

Main selection criteria

Dimensions

This criterion is the most important among others, especially in cases where kitchen furniture has already been ordered. The standard height of a built-in refrigerator ranges from 1770-1800 mm. If you pay attention to the volume of the device, the average parameters range from 200 to 250 liters. For a large family, it is better to choose a 300-500 liter unit, and when purchasing equipment for offices, a compact 100 liter unit is suitable.

Mini built-in refrigerator

Freezer location

When choosing a built-in refrigerator, you should also rely on the location of the freezer. According to Asian schemes, the freezer part is located above the refrigeration section, and European standards provide a chamber below. The most rarely used system is the Side-by-Side system, where the main departments are arranged parallel to each other.

Healthy! The best option would be a model with a freezer located at the bottom of the refrigerator; this classic design is used most often.

Number of compressors

In built-in models, there can be from 1 to 2 compressors, this directly depends on the location of the freezer. If the refrigeration part of the unit is located separately from the freezing part, then two compressor elements are used. This criterion is convenient during the defrosting process, when the working elements can be defrosted independently of each other.

Important!

In equipment with two compressors, the load on each element of the mechanism is reduced, which helps to extend the service life, but the degree of energy consumption increases.

Defrosting system

The defrosting function depends on the device model, the main types are:

  1. Manual - this type of defrosting is practically never found in modern units. The point is that the unit must be disconnected from the network periodically.
  2. Drip system - ice forms on the evaporator, which is eliminated when the compressor is turned off. Thawed liquid is drained through the hole. This practical function also has a drawback - you have to regularly clean the water outflow paths, because it merges with the settled dust.
  3. No Frost is the most favorable system that works automatically. Defrosting the refrigerator is not required due to the fact that there is no frost formation, because air circulates, moisture enters the evaporator with the help of a moving fan, without having time to freeze. Defrosting by the shutdown process is only necessary when it needs to be washed.

Healthy! Built-in refrigerators are located in a kitchen unit, which is most often made of wood or MDF, so leakage of the unit is contraindicated. The best option when choosing a refrigerator would be equipment with a No Frost defrosting system.

A comment

I was looking for a refrigerator based on price and quality, energy saving class and low noise level (someone wrote in the comments that sometimes you can hear the refrigerant flowing on the back wall - I confirm) yes you can hear it - but this is the case with all refrigerators that have refrigerant). I chose this model because the price suited me, I didn’t want to pay an extra twenty so that I could put them together (freezer and refrigerator). a heating element is installed there to remove condensation if they are located next to each other)

Excellent product

Experience of use

Less than a month

Advantages

Built-in. Stylish. Single chamber. Spacious. Build quality. From Germany.

Flaws

Resellers and resellers have inflated prices. You need to order directly from the manufacturer, it’s cheaper!

A comment

Bought for a family of three. We wanted a single-chamber version of the freezer, built into furniture. The choice was among the companies Liebherr, Aeg, Gorenje and Bosch. We chose premium class.

As a result, we bought a Bosch KIR81AF20R. — High-quality assembly of parts. — Nothing plays, creaks or falls off like Liebherr, everything fits perfectly. — Not very expensive compared to Aeg. — Not very expensive repairs and spare parts if something goes wrong, compared to Gorenje and Aeg. — Not noisy and economical in terms of electricity consumption per year. — Made in Germany, which also decided in favor of buying it.

Very happy with the purchase. I recommend!

Excellent product

Experience of use

Less than a month

Advantages

There is only one advantage of the refrigerator, it cools, everything else is subjective and is described in the comments

Flaws

I didn’t find any obvious ones, subjective shortcomings in the comments.

A comment

One of the advantages for me is the refrigerator lighting installed on the sides of the chamber, which illuminates the entire space, regardless of the load level. Another plus is the lighting of the bio fresh zone. A conditional plus is the drawer, since it takes up a lot of space, but it’s not always clear what to fill it with, and for some this may be a minus, because... it is included in the price. Another controversial plus is the organizer for the vegetable tray, it seems convenient, but it doesn’t seem to be. A real plus is the egg tray; in this refrigerator it holds 10 eggs and can be transformed to make it larger, since it is made in the shape of a pencil case. The noise level is quite acceptable, but I admit that it may vary depending on the hung facade; I have a facade with glass and the refrigerator is almost inaudible. The temperature settings are typical for Liebherr and represent a dance with a tambourine in the bio fresh part, otherwise everything is trivial. The door closer is not a panacea; it works worse when the door is loaded than when it is free (I had 4 bottles of wine and the door could no longer reach itself. Bio fresh dampers are certainly convenient for those who like to close compartments with a slam; here they work perfectly even with fully loaded.The price of this model may be somewhat overpriced, but the question of price is always subjective.

Excellent product

Experience of use

Less than a month

Advantages

Good assembly, high-quality materials, fresh zone, no freezer, built-in.

Flaws

The Liebherr nameplate was stuck on strangely, it immediately catches your eye - the insertion of a piece of plastic. In my opinion, the door slams a lot, but I think this can be adjusted when directly built into the furniture.

A comment

It’s a bit expensive, but I expect it to work over a long distance – it will work for a long time and without failures. Pah-pah!

Excellent product

Experience of use

Less than a month

Advantages

Great refrigerator. Large volume (it does not have a freezer), beautiful lighting. very convenient drawers, lift shelf, freshness zone. At first I thought that the elevator and the freshness zone were not really needed, that it was just a publicity stunt. It turned out there was nothing of the kind. The freshness zone is fantastic! Sausage and other sausage products, frankfurters, lightly salted fish and much more have been lying in the dry zone for more than a week. The chilled meat lasts for three days (I haven’t tried it again). In the wet zone, vegetables and fruits do not spoil; greens do not dry out or rot for a week. The elevator is also nice: when you have a full pan in your hands, with a slight movement you increase the height of the shelf. At first we didn’t like the drawers, but we quickly got used to them and appreciated their convenience. And he is also very handsome. In general, the whole family is delighted.

Flaws

Haven't noticed yet. It has been working flawlessly for a little over six months.

A comment

If you have a freestanding large freezer, you won't find a better refrigerator. Cheaper than Liebherr, but no worse.

How to properly integrate it into a headset?

Installation of built-in refrigerators is considered a complex process that requires special skills. For this reason, owners often turn to professionals. The installation process consists of the following steps:

  1. Checking the dimensions of the unit with the dimensions of the niche for installation. Take into account the presence of gaps of 2-3 cm for ventilation.
  2. If the lower part of the pencil case does not correspond to the level, then the problem is eliminated when installing the ventilation grille.
  3. The refrigerator is installed in a permanent place, leaving free space in front of the facade for easy installation of doors.
  4. Place the wires above or below the unit and then secure it.
  5. Install decorative panels.
  6. They seal metal parts and secure protective elements.
  7. Place the refrigerator at the desired depth, fixing it.
  8. Connect to the mains. It is advisable that the outlet be located on the side of the equipment.

If there is a decorative glass door, fully built-in models do not need to close the facade.

When choosing and installing models, a number of nuances are taken into account; to avoid errors when integrating into a niche, you must first study the instructions. If you have chosen this technique, then the presented rating will help you determine which built-in refrigerators will suit your requirements.

Which is better: a built-in refrigerator or a free-standing one?

Built-in refrigerators differ in many ways from free-standing ones. First of all, such devices are almost invisible in the kitchen, as they are built into a niche. In addition, they make virtually no noise.

A built-in refrigerator is worth choosing for several reasons.:

  1. Minimum noise level . Since the refrigerator is additionally covered by kitchen furniture, it does not interfere with comfortable sleep, and is ideal for small apartments.
  2. Minimum electricity consumption . Built-in refrigerators have additional thermal insulation in the form of furniture walls, so they require much less electricity to maintain the required temperature.
  3. Versatility . A built-in refrigerator will look harmonious in any kitchen, not only in an apartment or house, but also in an office.

In addition, built-in refrigerators are practically invisible, so they do not disturb the overall style of the room.
