For the most part, 4K/Ultra HD TVs differ from their predecessors not only in resolution and price. They have HDR support with greater color depth, higher frame rates and a dozen other features.
In this post, we tried to sort everything out and recommend several models in different price segments. And they did it traditionally without reference to our product range.
TV VIZIO M43-C1 price $548
The next model is the VIZIO M43-C1 TV. This is a relatively young manufacturer that introduced its models to the 4K TV market in 2015. And of course, to be able to compete, the TV's price of $548 is very appropriate. As a fact, VIZIO TVs are low-budget, but the stated characteristics are not that bad.
Remember the review of VIZIO M43-C1 and its main technical data. The screen diagonal is 109 cm (larger sizes are also available in this line of Vizio TVs), all modern specifications (at that time) are present. For example, the screen refresh rate using Clear Motion Engine technology.
The TV has a CI+ slot for viewing protected sources. Personal Video Recorder function - you can record your favorite programs to an external USB HDD device. The TV has a DVB-T2 tuner, which is relevant in Russia.
The smallest TVs for the kitchen
Don't be surprised that in this section you will see rare names much more often than big brands. Miniature TVs are an exotic layer of technology. It is not surprising that the names of the manufacturers will also sound exotic to you. But this does not mean poor quality: new companies can also present worthy products.
BBK LD1006SI 10″
For a cramped kitchen - or to place it right in front of your eyes - a portable TV in tablet format, like those produced for car interiors, is perfect.
BBK now rarely puts its name on products, preferring “proxies” like Oppo, Realme or OnePlus. But this TV was released before Attack of the Clones. The kitchen is often hot, smoky, and splashes can get on the TV - which means protection will be an advantage. There is a built-in DVD player, a memory card reader and a USB port for flash drives, which allows you to play video and music. With the transition to digital broadcasting, the analogue TV receiver becomes useless, but as a media player the device retains its advantages.
pros
- Compact size
- Resistance to extreme conditions
- Built-in DVD
- USB and memory cards
Minuses
- Poor terrestrial TV reception
- No digital receiver
- No Wi-Fi or Bluetooth
Eplutus EP-1608 16″
And this TV for the kitchen is more reminiscent of a monitor from the early 2000s, with a 16-inch diagonal and HD resolution. Alas, it is also equipped only with an analog tuner, but it does have a built-in DVD player, a USB port and a slot for memory cards. Thus, it is more of a media player than a TV. Unfortunately, the lack of wireless connections and Internet access hinders streaming.
You can install it in the kitchen on a table or shelf rather than hanging it on a bracket. This may turn out to be even more convenient, given that physical access is required both for flash drives and disks, and for controlling the buttons under the screen.
pros
- Relatively large screen
- Convenient push-button control
- Media player
- DVD
- Good sound
Minuses
- No VESA
- No digital TV
- No wireless communications
Philips 10BDL4151T 10″
If you need a TV in the kitchen not just to watch the broadcast, but as part of your digital home, then this half-tablet-half-display from Philips is ideal. This is a 10-inch Android tablet with multi-touch support and good protection from threatening environmental influences.
It can be called a TV conditionally, since it cannot receive over-the-air TV, but it can connect via Wi-Fi to the Internet and play streams. You can display a video of a recipe or a list of ingredients from your smartphone on it and keep them in front of you. Maybe this is an overkill for the kitchen, but if quality and modernity are important to you...
pros
- Full Android
- Internet access
- Multi-touch for 5 touches
- Built-in camera
- VESA mount
Minuses
- No terrestrial TV
- Quite a price
Samsung QB13R 13″
And one more device from the Signage Solutions class, which in the kitchen will play the role of not so much a TV, but an interactive screen.
The 13-inch Full HD screen, similar to a large tablet, is easily installed on the bracket. Touch control is typical for modern devices. There is a built-in media player and a set of wireless interfaces. Television, of course, can also be watched online. And you can download videos or web pages with recipes, create shopping lists and synchronize with your smartphone, or communicate via voice and video. Perhaps buying a business-class device for the kitchen is too much. On the other hand, thanks to IP5x protection, such a “TV” will better withstand the kitchen atmosphere. And software and hardware characteristics will remain relevant for a long time.
pros
- High-quality screen and sound
- Internet access
- Software set
- Convenient touch control
- High degree of protection
Minuses
- High price
- No analogue TV
Cameron TMW1502 15″
A waterproof TV with a screen diagonal of only 15 inches is the best choice for the kitchen. HD resolution may pale in comparison to business displays from Samsung and Philips, but compared to other TVs it looks very cool, given its good brightness reserves. A wall mounting bracket is included.
One of its main advantages for supporters of traditional TV is the built-in DVB-T receiver. Connect an antenna and watch digital broadcasting in the highest quality! If desired, you can also use the existing video inputs - especially since this model does not have a built-in media player or Wi-Fi.
pros
- Built-in digital receiver
- Not bad sound
- Stylish design
- Bracket included
Minuses
- Not the cheapest
- No built-in media player
- On the market since 2013
Samsung QE55Q70TAU
Samsung QE55Q70TAU is a decent TV for little money by 2020 standards. It costs 62 thousand rubles on the white market, and for this money it is the best that can be. The panel offers a VA matrix with a high contrast ratio of 5000:1, brightness of around 500 cd/m2, which is enough to display HDR content, and a refresh rate of 120 Hz. Moreover, there is even one HDMI 2.1 port and a full-fledged Wi-Fi ac - for this money such characteristics are rare.
The disadvantage is the Edge LED backlight, which can be called cheap. But specifically in this panel it is implemented perfectly - without glare, but there is no local dimming technology here, unfortunately.
Differences from full-fledged models
This item depends on the price. If it is not important, then you can get all the features of large models in a compact case. But if we compare solutions with the same price, the smaller diagonal loses in terms of resolution. What needs to be considered here is not the direct comparison, but the pixel density per inch. With a smaller diagonal, even a small resolution is enough to get the same sharp picture as on a large 4K panel.
A compact TV is inferior in sound quality because there is no room for acoustics. In terms of brightness it loses by 1.5-2 times or more.
But in terms of the set of connection ports, additional functions, and the ability to mount on a wall, TVs with a smaller diagonal are no different from their older analogues. At the same time, they weigh as much as a laptop, and consume less energy than the average incandescent lamp.
You always want to choose the best solution for your money, but you don’t have the time or desire to search. In this case, the rating of TVs in 2021 with a small diagonal will help.
Best 4K TVs 45-49 inches
3Samsung UE49NU7100U
One of the most important advantages of this TV is its high refresh rate (100 Hz), which not every competitor can boast of.
The high performance of the 4K device is achieved due to a powerful processor, and the factory functionality allows you to record broadcast channels to a connected drive. The sound is good, as for TV, with a surround effect, simple control and setup. No “brakes” are noticed when viewing particularly large content weighing more than 30 GB. On the other hand, the UE49NU7100U cannot boast of wide viewing angles and demonstrates high power consumption. To some, the image seems dull, to others - juicy. In general, you need to look for yourself before buying.
Average cost: 29,440 rubles.
pros
- Adequate price tag
- Fast SmartTV, in particular the browser
- Low latency in game mode
- HDMI 2.0 and HDR10
Minuses
- Small viewing angles
- Controversial color rendering
- No Bluetooth
2Sony KD-49XF9005
A big name and only rave reviews from users - this is about the KD-49XF9005 model.
Like the previous sample, a VA matrix is installed here, which has a positive effect on image contrast and color rendition. There is support for advanced Dolby Vision standards, extended range HDR, Android as an operating system, DLNA for fast transfer of content from gadgets, HDMI 2.0 and 24p True Cinema.
The high price tag is to some extent justified by the large amount of built-in memory - 16 GB, voice control, numerous inputs and three TV tuners. According to many users, this LED model is the best in its segment.
Average cost: 82,980 rubles.
pros
- Contrast and matrix colors
- Deep black color
- Excellent rendering of details
- Build quality
Minuses
- Inconvenient smartphone control
- Terrible remote control
- Mediocre sound
- Inconvenient menu and start screen
1LG 50UK6510
Unlike the vast majority of TVs on the market, the model has a VA matrix rather than IPS, which some note as an advantage, others as a disadvantage.
The 4-core LM18A processor is capable of sharpening images and upgrading low-resolution content to UltraHD levels. The real matrix scan rate is 60 Hz, but the special De-Judder parameter allows you to achieve better picture smoothness. The model's gaming mode is characterized by minimal signal latency (10.1 ms), which allows it to bear the title of gaming TV.
Stylish metal frames, different HDR formats, webOS 4, remote control of a smartphone - this is a wealth of advantages. The “deliciousness” of such an offer is somewhat spoiled by a glossy anti-reflective filter, which is not here.
Average cost: 35,169 rubles.
pros
- Easy installation out of the box
- Contrast and matrix colors
- Operating system interface
- 5 GHz Wi-Fi support
Minuses
- Small viewing angles
- Uneven backlight
- Terrible remote control
Middle price segment
4K TVs, with prices ranging from $500 to $1,500, are perhaps the largest and most saturated segment today, which even includes some premium QLED models. In addition, there is a great variety of TVs with huge diagonals - from 65 inches and more.
55-inch QLED TV Samsung QE55Q6FAMU
“Quantum dots” are available for about 90 thousand rubles when choosing a 55-inch TV Samsung QE55Q6FAMU.
65-inch TV LG 65UJ634V
For just over 80 thousand rubles, you can choose the huge 65-inch TV LG 65UJ634V or Samsung UE65MU6100U.
65-inch TV Samsung UE65MU6100U
If you take a closer look at the most popular models with a diagonal of 50-55 inches, you can find dozens of offers even from top brands at a price of 40-50 thousand rubles. For example, a good HDR model with a diagonal of 55 inches - LG 55UJ620V - is on sale for only 42 thousand rubles.
Curved 49-inch Samsung UE49MU6300U
It is curious that this price category also includes interesting models with a curved screen. Thus, the 49-inch Samsung UE49MU6300U can be found today at a price of only 50 thousand rubles.
Review of the reasons pushing you to buy a modern TV
Let's take a quick look at the reasons why you should buy the new generation of 4K TVs today. After all, today, in addition to the well-known companies LG, Samsung and Sony, which produce TVs, the famous company Apple has started creating its own UHD display. And this directly speaks to the correctness of the decision to buy a TV with improved 4K resolution today, despite the fact that it is quite expensive.
- A TV with 4K technology is the device of the future, so choosing a model that supports 2K technology will soon be irrelevant. Reviewing Internet content and TV programs that will soon be broadcast in 4K format will not be fully possible on 2K displays.
- 4K TVs reproduce Full HD images much better than 2K displays, as they are four times larger, and the high pixel density significantly improves viewing of video content.
- A modern Full HD 2K TV cannot fully display on the screen the resolution of digital images, the quality of which is very high today. Only TVs produced by Samsung and similar companies that support 4K resolution allow you to comfortably watch digital photos without downscaling the image.
- TVs that support the 4K format made by LG or their competitors Samsung and Sony have not only a denser placement of pixels on the screen, but also a higher refresh rate. This feature reduces eye strain and visually improves picture quality.
New modern versions of familiar home appliances
The development of new technologies today is proceeding by leaps and bounds. Not so long ago, an interesting new product on the market were Samsung TVs with the ability to display 3D and Full HD 1080p resolution. Today, the latest product is 4k TVs with an image quality standard of uhd - Ultra high definition or ultra-high definition television.
The minimum resolution for devices of this class is 4k 3840x2160 pixels, and the maximum resolution of televisions in this category reaches a clarity of 7680x4320 pixels and belongs to the 8K standard. For reference, the typical FULL HD format consists of no more than two million pixels on a screen with a resolution of 1920x1080. And the choice of displays of this type no longer allows you to review TV programs with all the details displayed on the screen.
