TOP 10 best headphones for TV according to customer reviews

4.7 / 5 ( 39 votes)

Whether you like to watch TV at night while your family or roommates sleep, or simply live in an apartment with paper-thin walls, TV headphones are a great way to enjoy your favorite shows and movies without disturbing others. That's why we tested and wrote a TOP 10 rating of the best headphones for TV in 2021 . However, not all headphones are suitable for such purposes - even the best quality headphones may be useless for watching TV if they have desync issues.

Unless you have a TV that supports the aptX-Low Latency Bluetooth codec or have purchased a dedicated transmitter, the audio will lag significantly behind the video when using Bluetooth headphones.

As for wired headphones, although they guarantee sound without delays, watching TV with headphones with a wire that stretches across the entire room is extremely inconvenient. Bluetooth headphones are much more comfortable, but, as mentioned earlier, they may have problems with synchronization. The good news is that modern Bluetooth codecs are steadily reducing latency and eliminating most associated problems. The latest version of Bluetooth 5.0 provides excellent audio and video synchronization and has an indoor range of 40 meters compared to the 10 meter range of Bluetooth 4.2. The best wireless headphones for TV in our rating were selected taking this factor into account. Many of them are specifically designed for TV viewing, so you can dive in and watch your favorite shows without any hassle!

Which headphones are best for TV?

Unfortunately, not all over-ear and on-ear wireless headphones are suitable for TV shows and movies. And that's not to mention in-ears and earbuds, so it's important to choose wisely. Below, I've outlined the most important factors to consider when choosing the best wireless headphones for TV.

  1. Sound quality.
  2. Sound delay.
  3. Work radius.
  4. Comfort of use.
  5. Various connection options compatible with your TV setup.

Generally, the headphones that work best for TV are dedicated RF TV headphones, gaming headsets, or Bluetooth headphones with low latency codecs such as aptX LL (Low Latency). However, they may require an external dongle to work with your TV or receiver.

In addition to the above, be sure to consider aspects of TV headphones such as remote control capabilities, battery life, and weight (since you will be wearing them for a long time). And if you live in a noisy family, you can choose wireless noise-canceling headphones. They cost a little more, but you can enjoy your favorite TV shows with peace of mind.

Marshall Major III Bluetooth

On-ear headphones for TV with a good Bluetooth connection.

The TOP 10 best headphones for TV open with the stylish Marshall Major III Bluetooth , in which both the headband and ear pads are covered with the same eco-leather. The only visible plastic element is the bowls, and even those have leather inserts. The design has a convenient folding mechanism, in which the bowls are folded inside the headband, which is convenient for transportation.

Another important point is the ability to connect to the TV either via Bluetooth or via cable.

There is also no active noise reduction system, but the design feature itself is enough to drown out children's noise in the apartment.

Sven AP-B770MV is a wireless stereo headset with an original design of cups in the form of patterns reminiscent of a tortoise shell. The device has a standard set of functions and does not cause a WOW effect when playing melodies.

The main part of the structure is made of medium-strength matte plastic. Faux leather, pleasant to the touch, covers the internal metal mechanism, which is connected to the cups using movable hinges.

On the right are buttons for switching and stopping songs and a micro USB connector for charging. According to reviews from Yandex.Market users, the battery lasts up to 20 hours. On the left cup there are power, volume up and down buttons and a metal mesh that hides the microphone.

The sound quality will not suit all listeners. The headphones do an excellent job with the lower frequency range in simple compositions. The presence of additional instruments and voices in the track leads to distortion. However, when watching movies, inaccuracies in sound are practically unnoticeable.

They can even connect to multiple Bluetooth devices, so you can hear audio from your phone and TV at the same time.

But there are also disadvantages: the gadget is quite bulky. The headband may be too small for some people, which will undoubtedly cause discomfort if used for long periods of time.

The wireless transmitter not only provides a low-latency connection, but also serves as a battery charging station and headphone setup center. You can equalize your headphones and control the volume levels of different input sources directly on the transmitter, which is very convenient.

Rating of the best wireless and wired headphones for TV

Whether you like to watch TV late at night when your family is already asleep or you just live in an apartment with thin walls, TV headphones are a great way to enjoy your favorite shows and movies without disturbing others. However, not all headphones are created equal. Even the coolest, great-sounding headphones can be virtually useless for watching TV if they have sync issues.

While wired headphones almost guarantee a lag-free listening experience, it can be quite difficult to run a long cable from the TV to the sofa, but if you have a small room, we would recommend that you still consider a wired option. Read: The best wired headphones

Bluetooth headphones are much more convenient, but may have problems with audio latency. The good news is that Bluetooth codecs are steadily improving latency and eliminating most problems. The latest version of Bluetooth (5.0) should provide excellent audio and video matching and has an indoor range of 40m compared to Bluetooth 4.2's 10m range.

There are now wireless headphones on the market that have low enough latency to allow you to watch TV comfortably. Many of them are designed for gamers, but there are a few models designed for television as well.

Best wireless headphones for TV overall: SteelSeries Arctis Pro

The best wireless headphones for TV are the SteelSeries Arctis Pro. Many of the features that make for a great gaming experience are also important when watching TV. They connect wirelessly without noticeable audio latency thanks to a unique wireless transmitter compatible with a wide range of home theater systems.

The SteelSeries Arctis Pro can even connect to a Bluetooth device at the same time, so you can mix audio from your phone and TV at the same time.

The wireless transmitter provides a low-latency connection and serves as a battery charging station and headphone setup center. Using the equalizer, you can customize their sound and adjust the volume levels of various input sources directly on the transmitter, which is very convenient.

It also charges their removable battery, and since they come with two batteries, you can always charge one while you use the other.

Although they are more aimed at gamers, they may seem relatively bulky, especially since their microphone is not detachable, and the headband frame may also be too small for some people, which may cause discomfort at the end of a long series.

But thanks to their minimal latency, these are the best wireless headphones for your home theater and your TV.

The best wireless headphones specifically designed for TV: Sennheiser RS 175 RF

The best wireless headphones for TV specifically designed for this purpose are the Sennheiser RS 175 RF. They have a dedicated docking station that connects directly to most TVs and allows you to use them wirelessly with minimal audio latency. They have decent build quality and are comfortable enough for watching TV.

Thanks to the efficient control circuitry located on the ear pads, you don't have to leave the couch to adjust the volume or activate features like extra bass or surround sound. While some users may find their default sound profile to be a bit bass-heavy, it doesn't overwhelm dialogue.

Their continuous operating time of rechargeable AAA batteries is approximately 24 hours.

Unfortunately, the plastic parts used in their construction seem to be of low quality and a little cheap. They are also prone to inconsistent sound delivery and you may especially notice a drop in the low frequencies.

However, they are specifically designed for TV viewing with minimal latency and can be easily customized to suit your preferences.

The best wired TV headphones under 10,000 rubles: Logitech G433

The Logitech G433 gaming headset is the best headphone option for watching TV under 10k. Although they are primarily designed for gaming, their wired design ensures low audio latency. They're also comfortable enough to watch TV for long periods of time and have an in-line remote so you can easily adjust the volume.

They have a fairly well-balanced sound, suitable for most audio content. Thanks to their compatibility with the accompanying G HUB software, you can customize their sound to suit your needs using a graphic equalizer and presets. The kit comes with a 2 meter long cable, which may be enough if you have a small room.

Unfortunately, they let in quite a lot of sound, which can be heard by others. They also don't block out a lot of noise, such as conversations, so are best suited for quieter rooms.

But, if you don't want to have latency, but want to have great sound with less than 10k, then the Logitech G433 fits all these requirements perfectly.

SteelSeries Arctis 7 2021 Edition Wireless Headphones

The SteelSeries Arctis 7 2021 Edition is similar in design to the Arctis Pro Wireless, but with fewer bells and whistles, making it a little more affordable.

These headphones are well suited for listening to TV. While their bass and treble delivery depends on their fit, seal and placement, by default you may find that they have a slightly boomy and harsh sound. Luckily, you can get closer to a more neutral sound profile by slightly adjusting their headband.

You can also customize their sound using the accompanying software's graphic equalizer to suit your needs.

The SteelSeries Arctis 7 2021 Edition features soft ear pads that are comfortable enough for long listening sessions, and its long battery life means you don't have to worry too much about pausing your gameplay. Their microphone picks up your voice perfectly and you can use them when answering phone calls.

Wireless headphones for TV: Sennheiser Momentum 3

Wireless headphones from Sennheiser, the world's renowned audio brand, offers its third generation of Momentum headphones. Three noise-canceling modes give you plenty of choice, and there are plenty of features to experiment with (which can be monitored using the third-party Tile app, for example).

Performance is better than ever given the Momentum family's pedigree—the levels of clarity and rhythm are off the charts, and all-day comfort makes them a great choice for any TV watcher.

Perhaps the biggest change to the Momentums design is the controls on the cup. The volume switch has been replaced by two volume buttons, housing a play/pause button that can also skip forward and backward, end calls, and, when held, read battery status.

The thick leather ear pads themselves provide some isolation, which is handy if you're trying to save battery life by turning off noise cancellation. However, activating the noise reduction function will allow you to be alone with your TV sound or your favorite track.

Over-ear wireless headphones - Sony WH-1000XM4 Wireless

Some of the best headphones for music are also some of the best for watching TV. Almost no review is complete without the Sony WH-1000XM4 headphones, be it the best wireless headphones or the best active noise-canceling headphones. We couldn’t help but include them in our rating of the best headphones for TV.

They're comfortable enough to wear during a session, and they automatically activate pass-through mode so you can talk to someone without removing the headphones.

But the main advantage is the sound quality. Low frequencies have been refined somewhat since the XM3, while dynamic shifts (such as quiet dialogue or booming explosions) are handled with greater panache. The headphones have low enough latency that dialogue won't fall out of sync with the actors' lips.

These comfortable, well-designed over-ear headphones offer excellent noise isolation and performance. With more than 37 hours of continuous battery life, this is longer than the Sony WH-1000XM3 Wireless, making them ideal for long periods of listening behind the TV screen.

Bose QuietComfort 35 II Wireless Headphones

The QC35 II has many advantages, including class-leading noise cancellation and rich, warm, detailed sound. Bose designed them for you to take with you everywhere, so they're lightweight and very comfortable. They don't support the latest version of Bluetooth, but they have many other features.

Can't remember the name of the actor who plays the role in the film? These headphones have a dedicated button to activate Google Assistant, which instantly gives you an answer to almost any movie-related question. They also read text messages so you can stay up to date without having to keep your phone handy.

Plantronics BackBeat Pro 2

Best Bluetooth TV Headphones.

If you're looking for versatile headphones that you can use in the office, on the road, or while watching TV, don't hesitate to buy the Plantronics BackBeat Pro 2 . They are the most versatile option on this list. These are regular Bluetooth headphones with excellent range and low latency codecs (aptX and aptX-LL). This means that they are primarily great for watching TV series and movies, and also have fairly low latency.

Overall, these are good, feature-rich, high-quality noise-cancelling headphones with intuitive controls and immersive sound.

Plantronics BackBeat Pro 2 has a latency of 35ms when using aptX-LL, compared to 173ms with the default Bluetooth connection (SBC). If you are willing to purchase an aptX-LL enabled Bluetooth transmitter with a regular 1/8” AUX or optical input, your movie viewing will be in perfect sync with the audio.

Sennheiser RS 175 RF

One of the best headphones for TV.

The finalist among wireless headphones for TV was Sennheiser RS 175 RF . These headphones communicate wirelessly with a dedicated receiver dock that connects to most TVs and provides low-latency connectivity to your home theater. Sennheiser also provide an intuitive physical button control scheme for volume control, as well as surround sound and bass boost.

Their sound profile is bass-heavy. When watching action movies, this gives even more drive and action. And at the same time, the characters’ dialogues are not muted. The 24-hour runtime is ideal for TV headphones, although they can take up to 8 hours to recharge. These headphones occupy a niche in the market, so there are quite a few alternatives on the market.

Sennheiser RS 195

The best headphones for TV 2021!

And the winner in our TOP 10 ranking of the best headphones for TV are the Sennheiser RS 195 RF ! In our opinion, they are the top classic example of wireless headphones for TV. Using a 2.4-2.48 GHz RF connection, the receiver connects to your TV and then sends audio to your headphones. The receiver also serves as a storage base, allowing for balance adjustments and various sound profiles that can be saved by the user.

In terms of sound quality, you'll get powerful audio with a comprehensive frequency response of 17Hz to 22kHz and harmonic distortion of less than 0.5%. But Sennheiser has also enlisted the help of IDMT for signal processing to better process the wireless signal for a full, clear audio response.

The fuller design means the plush padding of the Sennheiser RS 195 RF is extra large and comfortable. The downside is that these headphones use replaceable, rechargeable AA batteries rather than internal accessories. At $300, the price is higher than you might expect, but in terms of quality, it's worth it.

Sony MDR-RF811RK are cheap wireless headphones from a famous Japanese audio equipment manufacturer. To transmit the signal, the device uses two different channels and radio frequency technology, which provides coverage within a radius of up to 100 meters. There were no problems with the quality of reception when moving around the three-room apartment.

The design consists entirely of medium-strength plastic. On top, instead of a standard pad, there is a self-adjusting headband with elastic bands, which, according to the developers, should increase listening comfort. In practice, this design decision causes a lot of pressure from the cups on the ears after 2-3 hours of use.

On the right and left are the charging socket, power button, indicator, volume control and channel switch. The headphones are powered by two “pinky” batteries packed in a cartridge.

Neodymium 40 mm drivers provide excellent sound in all ranges. The bass is deep and soft, the mids and highs are distortion-free. The downside to the sound is background noise at low volumes.
