TOP 12 best Nokia smartphones: 2021 rating by price/quality and which inexpensive but good model to choose

Nokia is one of the first brands to start producing smartphones. The company is not doing as well in 2021 as it was in the early 2000s, when its products were among the most popular on the market. However, in the brand’s model range there are several interesting solutions that you can take a closer look at if you do not trust the products of Chinese companies. Read more about them in our rating, in which you will find the best Nokia smartphones of 2021, all models, prices, photos.

Nokia C1 Plus

Our top budget device starts. Let's start with the appearance of the new phone, which takes us back to the distant 2013, when companies were not trying to make huge devices with limitless screens. It is noteworthy that the model itself was presented on December 15, 2021, and therefore its appearance is only an attempt to determine the final price.

The screen diagonal is 5.45 inches, and the display uses IPS with a pixel density of 295 ppi . For modern smartphones this is not enough, but for old state employees, on the contrary, it is a lot. The working surface makes up only 72% of the total screen area. Fans of edge-to-edge screens will be disappointed by the camera, which is located separately and not on top of the display.

The device has only one front and one main camera. Each is 5 MP. You will be surprised, but even in front there is a flash for the front camera. Performance leaves much to be desired, because under the hood is hidden a Unisoc SC9832E processor coupled with 1 GB of RAM. Built-in memory 16 gigabytes. A little skimpy, but cheap.

According to the classics of state employees, outdated microUSB is used instead of type-c. The battery capacity is 2500 mAh, which is enough for several days of use. To summarize, this option will be an excellent “dialer” with simple controls and support for instant messengers, and therefore suitable for retirees who eschew current technologies.

Advantages:

  • weight – 146 grams;
  • flash front and back;
  • small size.

Flaws:

  • performance;

Price: 5000 rubles.

The best Nokia smartphones from 6 inches

This includes the best Nokia smartphones in terms of functionality and performance, which are more expensive than previous positions in the ranking, but still remain cheaper than most analogues and use more advanced technologies. People who prefer to get the most out of their phone should choose one of the devices presented in this category.

Nokia 6.2 3/32GB

The updated version of Nokia 6.2 is classified in the middle price category (12,000 rubles) and includes as many as 3 camera modules of 16/5/8 megapixels, taking pictures no worse than those of its competitors. The 6.3” screen with PureDisplay technology turned out to be very rich and realistic. The modern frameless design with a drop-shaped cutout and a glass body looks impressive and is much more expensive than its cost. The presence of an NFC module only enhances the pleasant impression of the smartphone. In terms of autonomy, the model is unremarkable - the 3500 mAh battery is enough for only one day of operation.

Although the RAM and ROM 3/32 GB characteristics of the Nokia 6.2 3/32GB are not impressive, the smartphone works quickly. This is facilitated by a good Snapdragon 636 processor and a clean Android 9.0 operating system, which does not have additional applications. The gadget is not good at complex games, but the device copes with daily tasks in full. Owners of this model like the good sound in their headphones - loud, deep and balanced.

Advantages

  • Modern and beautiful polished glass body;
  • Three main camera modules with good Zeiss optics;
  • Bright and rich PureDisplay screen;
  • Pure Android OS;
  • There is an NFC module, a fingerprint sensor and a USB Type-C connector.

Flaws

  • Fragility and slipperiness of the body;
  • Productivity could be higher.

An inexpensive Nokia 6.2 3/32GB smartphone is recommended for those who are not ready to give up any modern amenities and at the same time have a limited budget.

Nokia 7.2 64GB

The new Nokia 7.2 64GB evokes only positive emotions due to the proprietary design of the case, pleasant-to-touch material, familiar ergonomics and a nice screen. The flat 6.3” display without curves minimizes the number of accidental touches. The company emphasizes the high quality of the 48/5/8 megapixel triple camera, which shoots really well, including in 4k at 30 fps, but it feels like not all of its potential has been revealed. According to the company, further firmware should improve the situation. The 20 megapixel front camera works great, sometimes even better than the main sensors.

The composite frame of the Nokia 7.2 64GB (much stronger than polycarbonate) and the reflective matte glass in the body feel great. They look expensive, are not very susceptible to scratches and are resistant to fingerprints. The front panel is reliably protected by Corning Gorilla Glass. As a nitpick, it’s worth noting that the smartphone is a little angular and wide – 159.92×75.15×8.25 mm, although this is a matter of habit and does not cause severe discomfort even from the first day of use.

Advantages

  • Fast operating system;
  • High-quality, bright screen;
  • Excellent camera performance;
  • There is an NFC module;
  • Handles popular games at medium or maximum settings.

Flaws

  • The speed of unlocking the phone by face or fingerprint leaves much to be desired;
  • Average battery life – it runs out in just 4 hours when playing games, and 7 hours when watching videos.

Nokia 7.2 64GB is a worthy representative of the middle class, capable of taking good pictures even in low light. Its main advantage lies in its nice body and screen; in appearance, this model is not inferior to flagships.

Nokia 8.1 64GB

This device was released in early 2021 and can be called the best Nokia smartphone of its time for 22,000 rubles. The main arguments in favor of the device are the presence of flagship functions, including the excellent quality of the front and main cameras. Don't be fooled by the low numbers, the dual 12/13 MP module can take photographs even at night with minimal interference. The model also supports fast charging technology. The smartphone runs on Snapdragon 710, which allows you not to overpay for flagship chipsets and get a device with sufficient performance for daily tasks.

The Nokia 8.1 64GB screen still has a notch-shaped cutout, but given the design of the iPhone 11, the device also looks modern. The optimal display diagonal of 6.18” with FullHD+ resolution only makes the appearance attractive. The case successfully combines glass and metal, which is why the phone feels pleasant in the hand and is absolutely not easily soiled.

Advantages

  • Excellent Zeiss optics;
  • High-quality assembly;
  • Fast response of the fingerprint scanner;
  • Advanced audio recording system OZO Audio in video mode;
  • The camera captures clearly both day and night.

Flaws

  • Somewhat slippery body;
  • Average battery life – 3500 mAh.

Nokia 8.1 64GB is a balanced mid-level smartphone that can be compared with flagships in terms of shooting quality, while other characteristics correspond to its price category.

Nokia 1.3

Another budget model, but with more impressive performance and, accordingly, an increased price. The design of the new product remains primitive and gray, even the rear camera has not moved. But the front lens now appears as a drop on the screen, rather than occupying a separate line on top.

The screen diagonal is 5.71 inches, and the already familiar IPS is used as a display. The device is powered by a quad-core Qualcomm QM215 processor and 1 GB of RAM. The built-in memory is only 16 GB, but given the low performance, this is enough, because the memory cannot be cluttered with games. Is it worth overpaying 1000 rubles for an enlarged screen? Experience says it's worth it.

Advantages:

  • screen;
  • drop-shaped chamber;
  • autonomy – 3000 mAh, 7 hours.

Flaws:

Price: 6000 rubles.

Nokia 1.4

If in the previous model design was not given any priority, here, on the contrary, the manufacturer decided to experiment. Let's start with the IPS screen, which measures 6.51 inches diagonally. This is the most popular size for modern phones. A fingerprint scanner has appeared on the back wall, and on the side there is a button to call Google Assistant. But what is especially attractive are the two cameras, which together with the flashlight form a round block on the rear panel. This, and all previous models, have pure Android preinstalled.

Performance is fully consistent with the price segment. It is powered by a Qualcomm QM215 Snapdragon 215 processor and 3 GB of RAM. Internal memory is only 64 GB. The device boasts autonomy, because it is equipped with a 4000 mAh battery. Otherwise, the device is no different from its “ancestor”.

Advantages:

  • fingerprint scanner;
  • screen;
  • autonomy;

Flaws:

  • no type-c;
  • shooting quality.

Price: 8440 rubles

The most expensive smartphones

Among the six new Nokia products, the most technologically advanced (and most expensive) are the Nokia X20 and Nokia X10 monoblocks with Zeiss cameras and codenames Scarlet Witch and Quick Silver in honor of famous superheroes. These are mid-level smartphones that, in addition to advanced optics, receive support for fifth generation networks (5G) and high-capacity batteries.

Nokia X20 became the most expensive among new products

Meanwhile, both mobile phones are built on far from the most advanced Qualcomm processor - they use Snapdragon 480, which, however, is produced using an 8-nanometer process technology. It has eight Kryo 460 cores at up to 2 GHz and an Adreno 619 graphics card, and its main purpose is to provide low-cost mobile phones with 5G support.

First impression of Nokia X20

X20 and X10 received Android 11 OS and three years of updates to the OS itself and the security system.

The older Nokia X20 is equipped with a 6.7-inch Full HD+ screen with wide frames and a cutout for a 32 MP camera. The main module consists of four sensors (64, 5, 2 and 2 megapixels), and the fingerprint scanner has been moved from the rear panel to the power button. The smartphone comes with a 4470 mAh battery, IP52 splash protection, Wi-Fi 802.11ac and Bluetooth 5.0 modules, GPS, GLONASS and Beidou receivers, a USB-C port for charging, a 3.5 mm audio jack and an FM tuner.

Nokia X10 - simplified version of X20

The Nokia X10 differs from the X20 only in cameras - the rear module received 48 + 5 + 2 + 2 megapixel sensors, and the front resolution was reduced to 8 megapixels.

In Russian retail, the older Nokia X20 will appear in shades of “Scandinavian blue” and “midnight sun” in the 8/128 GB version at a price of 32 thousand rubles. Until the end of April 2021, pre-order is valid at a price of 28 thousand rubles.

The Nokia X10 is available in body colors called “blue spruce” and “snow white”. In Russia, the smartphone will be released in the 6/128 GB version, but its price and release dates are still unknown. In Europe, the device will be released in June 2021 at a price of 309 euros (28.3 thousand rubles at the Central Bank exchange rate as of April 9, 2021).

Nokia 2.4

The first smartphone on our list, the working surface of which covers 81% of the total screen area. Considering that the display diagonal is 6.5 inches, this is quite a lot. Productivity indicators have increased significantly. For example, benchmark AnTuTu gives this phone a score of 77,000 due to its Mediatek MT6762 Helio P22 octa-core processor and 3GB of RAM. Some pleasant changes include a 4500 mAh battery and the installation of a better camera with a resolution of 13 MP.

Advantages:

  • design;
  • Screen size;
  • autonomy.

Flaws:

  • gray design;
  • weight – 195 grams.

Price: 10,000 rubles.

Very cheap mobile phones

The ultra-budget devices C10 and C20 close the line of new Nokia products. For now, only the C20 will reach Russia at a price of 7,500 rubles. for 2/16 GB and 8000 rub. for 2/32 GB in dark blue and sand shades.

Nokia C20

Due to the minimal amount of RAM, both smartphones are equipped with a highly simplified Android 11 Go operating system, adapted for this type of device. They are not entitled to OS updates, but the security system will receive patches for two years.

To reduce the price, Nokia abandoned MediaTek and Qualcomm chips in favor of the eight-core SC9863A processor from Unisoc, formerly known as Spreadtrum. It is installed in the C20 - the younger C10 received an even cheaper Unisoc SC7331e with four cores.

You can't buy Nokia C10 in Russia yet

Otherwise, the C20 and C10 are identical. The smartphones received 6.5-inch screens with a resolution of 1600x720 pixels (HD+), a 5 MP front camera, exactly the same rear module and a 3000 mAh battery. The price includes an LTE modem, GPS and GLONASS receivers, an outdated microUSB charging connector, a separate headphone input and Bluetooth 4.2 and Wi-Fi 802.11n modules.

Nokia 3.4

A smartphone with the most unusual design from Nokia. Let's start with the fact that a disk consisting of three cameras and one flashlight has again appeared on the rear panel. The fingerprint remained in the same place. But what’s more interesting is the location of the front camera. This is the same “drop”, but already located in the corner, and not in the middle.

The screen diagonal is 6.39 inches. The first phone from Nokia to support NFC. For this price segment, the presence of a module is considered a big plus. The Qualcomm Snapdragon 460 processor coupled with 3 GB of RAM gives an average level of performance that allows you to run even some demanding games. Otherwise, the device is similar to its “ancestor”.

Advantages:

  • NFC;
  • autonomy;
  • performance.

Flaws:

  • slightly unusual placement of cameras.

Price: 11,000 rubles.

Nokia 5.3

A full-fledged smartphone that meets modern market requirements. Under the cover of the case is hidden an eight-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 665 processor, an Adreno 610 video processor and 4 GB of RAM. With this setup, the gadget can easily handle most modern mobile toys. True, an unclear screen will seriously interfere with the gameplay.

What was especially pleasing was the appearance of a type-c port. Logically, it should be on a device from the mid-price segment, but after earlier models, doubts arose. The device is equipped with three main cameras, which form a disk on the rear panel. In general, if you need a Nokia smartphone, we recommend starting with this option. It will not empty your wallet and will not lose performance after several months of operation.

Advantages:

  • pure Android;
  • price;
  • powerful processor.

Flaws:

  • weak camera.

Price: 15,000 rubles.

Nokia 7.2

  • Release date: September 2019
  • Weight: 180 grams
  • Dimensions: 159.9x75.2x8.3 mm
  • OS: Android 9
  • Screen diagonal: 6.3 inches
  • Resolution: 1080x2280
  • Processor: Qualcomm Snapdragon 660
  • RAM: 4/6 GB
  • Memory : 64/128 GB
  • Battery capacity : 3500 mAh
  • Rear camera: 48+8+5 MP
  • Front camera: 20 MP

Price: from 18,000 rubles

The Nokia 7.2 is a solid mid-range phone that struggles to stand out among Nokia's Android devices. It has a sufficient level of performance for its level, a pleasant and ergonomic design, and a good main camera. In many ways it is similar to its updated “relative” – Nokia 5.4.

In terms of multimedia capabilities, photo and video capabilities, the device also resembles the Nokia 5.4. It uses similar sensors and Zeiss optics, which, together with artificial intelligence algorithms and add-ons, are capable of producing high-quality photographs. In terms of cameras, the smartphone is not a failure. And if you tinker a little and install a Google camera, the results become even better and already fully justify the cost of the hardware. The lens is especially good for macro photography. In general, this is far from a camera phone, but the quality is acceptable.

“Under the hood” there is a time-tested 8-core single-chip Qualcomm Snapdragon 660 system. This is a high-quality processor with a fairly powerful graphics accelerator, which also allows you to comfortably run most heavy games at any settings. The chip has even a small performance reserve. All this is powered by a 3500 mAh battery that holds a charge for up to 2 days with normal use.

Pros:

  • Not a bad main camera.
  • Excellent performance.

Minuses:

  • It charges very slowly.
  • Poor wide-angle module.

Nokia 5.4

It is interesting that the difference between the prices of this and the previous model is insignificant, but there are serious differences in the characteristics. Let's start with the screen. Without changing its traditions, the manufacturer installed IPS with a diagonal of 6.39 inches. The pixel density is only 269 ppi, which is a bit disappointing.

Despite the high resolution of the camera, many users complain about its unoptimized performance. Performance is significantly improved due to the Qualcomm Snapdragon 662 processor coupled with 6GB of RAM. Otherwise, the device is not much different from the 5.3 model.

Advantages:

  • performance;
  • autonomy – 4000 mAh;
  • screen.

Flaws:

  • unoptimized OS;
  • blurred image.

Price: 15800 rubles.

Nokia 8.3 5G

The name of the model gave away its main feature. Indeed, the device supports 5G communication, although this plus is difficult to apply in the CIS. The diagonal of the device is 6.81 inches, and the same IPS is used as a display. The company completely refuses to try other displays. But the pixel density has increased to 386 ppi.

In general, the device can be positioned as a gaming flagship, because it is equipped with an eight-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 765 5G processor coupled with 8 GB and 128 GB of ROM. The only disappointment is the price of this technological masterpiece.

Advantages:

  • high performance;
  • 5G support;
  • clear display.

Flaws:

  • price;
  • weight – 220 grams.

Price: 38,000 rubles.

Nokia G20

An excellent choice if you need a budget device with a nice design and a large screen, rather than an expensive, productive flagship. The device features a 6.5-inch display. The processor is played by MediaTek Helio G35. The device has enough memory, 64 GB of ROM and 4 GB of RAM. I was especially pleased with the battery capacity, which is 5050 mAh.

Advantages:

  • price;
  • screen;
  • autonomy.

Flaws:

  • Mechanical buttons are too sensitive.

Price: 12,000 rubles.

The best Nokia smartphones up to 6 inches

New models with a diagonal of up to 6 inches are gradually dying out. Almost all of them (including budget ones) released in 2021 already come with 5.9-6.3-inch screens. However, such options are still quite compact and comfortable to use, and have most of the modern functions. When deciding which Nokia smartphone is better in this class, it would be appropriate to take a closer look at the three models in our rating.

Nokia 4.2 3/32GB Android One

The TOP continues to be a budget smartphone with a 5.71” diagonal and HD+ resolution. The gadget has a stylish design with a drop-type cutout in the screen and good assembly (no backlash, squeaks or other undesirable manifestations), but the glossy back cover collects fingerprints and slides, especially when wearing gloves. An important advantage of a smartphone is the presence of an NFC chip for contactless payments, which is usually implemented in more expensive models. The device is equipped with a dual main camera of 13/2 megapixels and a front module of 8 megapixels, so it shoots at the level of competitors in its class.

The Nokia 4.2 3/32GB Android One has average performance, decent photographic capabilities and a nice design. The smartphone features a fast fingerprint scanner, Android 9.0 One OS and an NFC module. The listed parameters set the model apart from its competitors. I can recommend this option as a first device for a child or for those who are not chasing advanced technologies.

Advantages

  • Clean and fast operating system;
  • Modern design and small frame around the screen;
  • Support for Google Pay contactless payments;
  • It is possible to install microSD up to 400 GB;
  • Good 8-core Snapdragon 439 processor.

Flaws

  • Modest battery life (3000 mAh): with average load lasts a day, with games – daylight hours;
  • Body material is easily soiled.

Nokia 4.2 3/32GB Android One is an inexpensive smartphone with a beautiful display, sufficient performance and NFC. The device is a worthy competitor to Xiaomi, Huawei and Meizu in the entry class.

Nokia 5.1 Plus Android One

The Nokia 5.1 Plus smartphone is a mid-range model for 2021. After the price was reduced from 15,000 to 6,500 rubles. the device became interesting to buy. The device has a classic design with a bang-shaped cutout. A frameless body with an 18:9 aspect ratio, a 5.8” diagonal and HD+ resolution makes the smartphone a worthy purchase. Competitors with similar characteristics cost about 10,000 rubles. Among other advantages, it is worth noting good performance, participation in the Android One program (the device is the first to receive updates) and the presence of artificial intelligence functions in the camera.

Advantages

  • Stylish and ergonomic body;
  • Minimal frames around the screen;
  • Acceptable performance;
  • 2 main cameras with AI functions take good photos and videos;
  • Timely software updates.

Flaws

  • No NFC;
  • You can choose either a second nano-SIM or a 400 GB memory card.

If you want to buy a good Nokia smartphone and not overpay for less useful functions, it is better to buy Nokia 5.1 Plus Android One. It would also have a good battery (not 3060 mAh, as it is now) and NFC, and the gadget would be an ideal device in the budget niche.

Nokia 2.2 16GB

This is a more modern (2019) and at the same time simple model. In this device, Nokia abandoned the outdated “bangs” in favor of a “drop” cutout. Entry-class smartphone for 6-7 thousand rubles. received 2 GB of RAM, 16 GB of ROM and MediaTek Helio A22 4x2 GHz - these are modest characteristics, but they correspond to the price category of the device. The reduction in price is also noticeable in the camera; the gadget has only one 13 megapixel module with autofocus. However, the device is absolutely competitive thanks to Android One and a removable battery that can be easily changed on the go.

Advantages

  • Compact (70.56×145.96×9.3 mm) and light – 156 g;
  • Stylish design, as by the standards of 2021;
  • Rich and beautiful screen;
  • No shells, only Android available;
  • Possibility of changing the back panel;
  • Separate slot for microSD card 400 GB;
  • Advanced version of Android OS 9.0.

Flaws

  • The sound from the speaker on the back is muffled when the phone is lying down;
  • Only 6-7 GB of free memory, out of 16 GB as much as 10 GB is occupied by the operating system.

Nokia 2.2 16GB is a simple mobile phone with a beautiful screen and a passable camera, but without big claims to high performance, battery life or functionality.

Nokia X20

We summarize this list with a premium flagship. Manufacturers decided to make a smartphone with an almost limitless screen. The device is not aimed only at games, photos or autonomy. The developers tried to reach as many potential buyers as possible, so they simultaneously installed a Qualcomm Snapdragon 480 processor, 8 GB of RAM, 128 GB of ROM and a 64 MP camera.

Advantages:

  • memory;
  • autonomy;
  • Screen size.

Flaws:

  • weight – 220 grams.

Price: 27,500 rubles.

Nokia 9 PureView

  • Release date: February 2019
  • Weight: 172 grams
  • Dimensions: 155x75x8 mm
  • OS: Android 9
  • Screen diagonal: 5.9 inches
  • Resolution: 1440x2880
  • Processor: Qualcomm Snapdragon 845
  • RAM: 6 GB
  • Memory: 128 GB
  • Battery capacity : 3320 mAh
  • Rear camera: 12+12+12+12+12 MP
  • Front camera: 20 MP

Price: from 49,900 rubles

Nokia 9 PureView is the recent flagship from Nokia, packed with cutting-edge features. In particular, it has one important feature (or five) in the form of a rear camera with five sensors, which is not so common in smartphones. Using the example of Pixel smartphones, Google showed us perfectly how you can take gorgeous photos even with 1 or 2 two lenses. But Nokia, like many other manufacturers, is following the path of quantitative growth.

Let's take a closer look at the main feature of the model – the camera. At the back there is a system of 5 modules that have the same characteristics. This is both a huge advantage and a huge disadvantage of the camera. It has a unique operating principle when all 5 sensors are activated at the time of shooting. The result is a better quality photo. And here is a big drawback - image processing can take more than a minute. The front camera is quite standard for flagship devices and produces high-quality images. The dynamic range and portrait mode let us down a bit though.

The device is not that expensive when compared to some of the other flagships that are available on the market today, so if you want a powerful smartphone with a great camera without spending too much, then this model is the way to go. The flagship Snapdragon 845 processor is installed here, which covers any questions regarding performance. Everything will “fly” for another year. Of course, the Nokia 9 PureView has some problems, as is the case with most other phones, but it represents the best that the company has to offer right now, with the exception of the last few models (8.3 5G, 5.4).

Pros:

  • Attractive camera with five sensors.
  • Price.

Minuses:

  • Average in other components.
  • Poor ergonomics.

Instead of output

As you can understand from the review above, Nokia has never sought to introduce revolutionary ideas and overtake global manufacturers. Instead, the company instead copied and experimented with existing components.

Developers are not trying to remake a smartphone from scratch, as Samsung does, for example, but are only improving existing models. It is noteworthy that the development of smartphones is not carried out by the same people who gave the world the Nokia 3310. In 2013, the rights to the Nokia brand were sold to HMD Global.

Features of Nokia smartphones

Nokia entered the Android smartphone market very late. However, it is slowly gaining a user audience. The first models were frankly weak, but today they fully meet the needs of buyers - they have powerful processors, and solid storage facilities are provided for data storage.

The developers focus on the security of user data. To achieve this, almost all models will be accompanied by security updates for three years. Two years of operating system updates are also planned. Another distinctive feature will be the Scandinavian design with characteristic colors.
