Operating principle of the sensor
A gas boiler works by burning blue fuel. Naturally, combustion products are released. If they get into the room, this is fraught with severe poisoning of all residents of the house, even death. Therefore, the design of the column provides for connection to a chimney, through which all harmful substances are discharged to the street.
Naturally, for high-quality exhaust, the ventilation shaft must have perfect draft. But it happens that some kind of violation occurs - for example, the chimney may become clogged with debris or soot. If in such a situation the boiler stubbornly continues to burn fuel, then the combustion products will inevitably go into the house.
To prevent this, the design of the gas boiler includes an element such as a chimney draft sensor. It is located in the place between the ventilation duct and the equipment housing. The type of sensor depends on the type of boiler:
- in a boiler with an open combustion chamber, the protective sensor is a metal plate to which a contact is connected. This plate is the indicator that monitors the temperature increase. The fact is that normally released gases are usually heated to 120–140 degrees. If the outflow is disrupted and they begin to accumulate, then this value increases. The metal from which the plate is made reacts to this situation and expands. The contact attached to the element moves and closes the valve responsible for the gas supply. Thus, the combustion process stops, and at the same time the entry of a new portion of harmful substances is prevented;
- in a boiler with a closed combustion chamber, products are removed through a coaxial channel, and a fan is used. The sensor in this case is a pneumatic relay with a membrane. It reacts not to temperature, but to flow speed. While it is within acceptable limits, the membrane is bent and the contacts are in the closed position. When the flow rate becomes weaker than necessary, the membrane straightens, the contacts open, and this leads to the gas supply valve closing.
As you can see, if the draft sensor is triggered, turning off the gas water heater, this means some kind of malfunction in the operation of the equipment. For example it could be:
- initially poor quality traction. This is the first and main reason why the sensor may be triggered. As a rule, this phenomenon is associated with improper installation of the exhaust structure. If combustion products are poorly drawn out, then this poses a danger to all living things in the house;
- reverse thrust. This phenomenon occurs when an air lock forms in the chimney. Gases, which normally should move to the very top of the pipe and then exit, cannot overcome this obstacle and return back, filling the room. The reverse draft effect can occur if the chimney insulation is very poorly done. Temperature differences lead to the formation of air pockets;
- chimney blockage. Inexperienced owners may think that the pipe going to the roof simply cannot become clogged with anything. In fact, there are many factors that lead to the formation of a blockage. The first of these is birds. They can make nests on the pipe, which then fall down. And the birds themselves often manage to get stuck in the chimney and then die there. In addition to birds, you should also take into account the possibility of ingress, for example, of leaves, as well as soot deposits on the inner walls of the pipe. If the chimney is clogged, the draft intensity becomes too low, and there is only one way out - cleaning;
- strong wind. If the pipe is not positioned correctly, gusts can enter it and blow out the burner. Naturally, in such cases the sensor cuts off the fuel supply. To avoid such a danger, it is necessary to purchase and install a stabilizer.

I think this is an excellent speaker for the money they are asking for it. Quite decent appearance, simple design, minimum electronics, electric ignition from two batteries. It works as a cheap Chinese device should, although there are worse and more expensive models on the market. Therefore, I don’t understand the angry shouting of people who buy cheap speakers and complain about their shortcomings - if something doesn’t suit you, then where did you look when buying? We would take models already stuffed with electronics with flame modulation and temperature support. I believe that the Vector JSD 12-W fully justifies its low cost, and any speaker has its drawbacks.
Advantages:

Flaws:
- Sometimes it takes a long time to light up, the problem is solved by replacing the batteries. As it turned out, this requires normal batteries, but they are expensive;

Starting the device and adjusting the temperature
To correctly set up hot water in the device, you must:
- Open the hot water mixer fully;

- Loosen the locking screw;
- Attach a pressure gauge to check the pressure in the injectors to the nozzle.

- Remove the seal from the screw;
- Turn on the device;
- Hot water taps are turned on;
- The adjusting screw adjusts the pressure in the nozzles;
- Put the seal in place.
There are brands that have a special “Winter-Summer” mode with temperature adjustment. This handle was made at the bottom. Adjustment of the Oasis gas water heater is located on the front panel. The peculiarity of the mode is that in winter the power is higher than in summer. The heating power of the liquid in the column is directly related to the temperature of the inlet stream. Identifying the reason why the gas water heater does not ignite and eliminating the breakdown
To determine the reason for the lack of flame in the column wick, you must:
- Open the front panel of the device.
- Check the condition of the nozzle and air suction hole, gas supply tube to the igniter. If there is soot or dirt: remove it from the wick.
Ignition system for semi-automatic geysers.
Examine the piezoelectric element for spark generation. If it is absent, inspect the wires and terminals for mechanical and other damage. Oxide on the contacts must be removed and damage repaired.
- Determine the thermocouple voltage. To check the heat generator, unscrew the special plug of the electric valve. Carefully remove the special cable that comes from the thermocouple. Using a multimeter in DC voltage test mode, connect one probe through the Alligator clip to the outer shell, and place the other one against the central contact. Since the height between the contacts is small, make sure that the probes do not touch each other. Use a lighter to heat the working end of the thermocouple. If the voltmeter readings correspond to 15 - 30 mV, the part is serviceable; for other values, the generator must be replaced. If the special wire is not suitable for further use, the entire thermocouple is replaced.
- Examine the valve inductor. In the valve connector, which was released when checking the thermocouple, insert one end of the probe into the middle of the connector, the other onto its body. Tester in ohmmeter mode. The coil resistance should be in the range of 10 - 15 ohms. If the circuit is open or shorted, the ohmmeter will record a value of 1 or 0, respectively. The coil changes modularly, along with the stem and valve.
Check the serviceability of the monitoring sensors. At room temperature, the control contacts of the sensor are in a closed state. Using a multimeter, in diode test mode, examine the two sensor terminals for circuit continuity. The tester reading if the sensor is working will be 0; in other situations, when the values correspond to 1 or a resistance of 1 - 600 Ohms, it must be removed and a working one installed in its place.
Test the condition of the wires and connections. The wires with the sensor contacts are connected by soldering with soft solder, with an electromagnet and a thermocouple using a special plug. Carefully inspect the wires, solder joints, and plug connections. Sometimes microcracks form at soldering points, which disrupt the integrity of the entire circuit.
After each remark has been corrected, it is advisable to check whether the column lights up or not.
Let's look at the example of Bosch gas instantaneous water heaters WR10.B, WR13.B, WR15.B, manufactured in Germany, for the markets of Russia, Ukraine, and Belarus. These models differ in the amount of heated water.
Before starting, check that the gas and water valves are open and that two 1.5 V type R batteries are inserted. These heater models are equipped with electric ignition, as indicated by the B index at the end of the name. Electric ignition occurs using batteries.

If there is a long break in operation, air may accumulate in the gas system, which will prevent the igniter from working properly and, as a result, the main burner will not be able to ignite.
To fix this problem, you need to open and close the hot water tap several times. Adjustment of water heating occurs by reducing its flow; by turning the valve clockwise, it decreases; counterclockwise, respectively, vice versa, the flow increases and the temperature decreases. At a low water temperature, gas costs are reduced and less scale is formed in the heat exchanger.

Malfunctions and methods for their elimination
Like any other equipment, the Vektor geyser may stop functioning over time. This situation can be caused by a number of reasons.
For example, if the device does not start working, but a spark is present. The following symptoms may be observed:
- There is no gas supply. To restart it, you need to open the valve.
- Water flows into the system with low pressure. To eliminate the problem, you can install sediment, which will increase the water pressure.
- The water in the system has good pressure, but loses it when leaving. Most likely, scale has formed in the heat exchanger. To eliminate the cause, you will need to disassemble the part and clean it.

If the water temperature does not heat up to the required level at maximum gas supply, the problem may be caused by the following reasons:
- Heat exchanger clogged. Accordingly, the element needs to be washed urgently.
- Weak gas pressure, which only the gas service can normalize.
- Clogged or damaged membrane. To fix the problem, it is worth repairing the water-gas unit or replacing the membrane.
- A sharp change in flame color from blue to yellow. It is necessary to check the accumulation of dust and soot inside the burner. If it is present, then the part should be cleaned.
If the gas water heater hums and vibrates during operation, it could be:
- a malfunction of the heat exchanger that needs urgent repair;
- The gas pressure is too high - when it decreases, the problem will go away on its own.
If the column does not light up or goes out, there may be several reasons. In this case, the equipment may spark or there may be no spark at all. The reason may lie in high water pressure, which should be reduced. There may also be broken parts in the device that need to be replaced urgently.

Geyser Vector JSD 20-W
This geyser is simply designed for areas with low water pressure. You don’t even have to purchase an additional pump that increases the pressure. The design is quite successful, although it is not without some drawbacks. I am pleased with the durable heat exchanger installed in the gas water heater, the absence of unnecessary “bells and whistles” that only increase the cost of geysers. Of course, this is a typical Chinese model, but you can safely count on several years of almost problem-free operation. The most striking drawback that I noted is the rapid consumption of battery capacity - with intensive use, they need to be changed every one or two months.
Advantages:
- For me, the price was critical, which turned out to be very low. As I was able to understand in the store, it would be difficult to find a model with a similar price-quality ratio;
- A simple design with a minimal set of additions, which only increases the reliability of the speaker.
Flaws:
- It is difficult to achieve the desired temperature; the readings on the thermometer constantly float up and down;
- Sometimes it ignites with a bang, although the burner and heat exchanger are clean, nothing prevents the flame from burning normally.
How to use
This gas water heater is automatic and easy to use. But you still need to study the instructions for use. First of all, you need to install it correctly. Such water heaters are connected not only to the water supply system, but also to gas pipes. This should be done by a specialist. Additionally, you will have to purchase a chimney pipe, fittings, and fasteners.
After installing the device and connecting to all communications, the specialist will make preliminary settings for the device and check its operation. The operating instructions recommend first passing water through the column pipes, removing air from them. Then close the tap and insert the batteries. Now, after turning on the water tap, the burner will automatically ignite. All that remains is to set the desired temperature. It is recommended to choose no more than 550, especially if the water hardness is increased.
During operation of this water heater, various malfunctions may occur. Most often, users contact the service center about several problems.
The Vector water heater does not turn on or lights up and immediately goes out. There may be several reasons for this problem. The most common is that the batteries are dead. Reason No. 2: lack of draft in the chimney
Due to contamination of the chimney as a result of the accumulation of soot or construction debris entering it, the vector of movement of combustion products changes to the opposite direction. This poses two dangers:
The returning mixture of carbon monoxide and air extinguishes the burner. As a result, the protection system is triggered and the operation of the gas water heater is blocked;
The returning mixture of carbon monoxide and air penetrates into living spaces. This option is even worse, as it poses a danger to the health and even the life of household members. It is possible in the case when the force of the “overturned” draft is not enough to extinguish the fire.

Radical. The problem can be finally solved only by replacing the relay.
Reason No. 4: discharged ignition system batteries
Another reason why the main burner does not light up may be dead batteries. This can be determined by the idle clicks of the piezo ignition element when hot water is turned on.
It is also worth noting that the described problem applies exclusively to water heaters equipped with an automatic switching system.
Reason No. 5: insufficient water flow or its complete absence
In order for the geyser to turn on, there must be a certain amount of water pressure present. If it is too weak, the unit will not turn on. In this case, you should first clarify the source of the problem by opening the cold water tap in the bathroom:
If the water supply level there is weak, it means that the problem is in the city water supply system. There is nothing you can do here, you will have to wait;
If the liquid flows normally, most likely the column itself is clogged.
In the second case, you can call a technician, or you can try to clean the device yourself. The instructions look like this:

Turning on the device
The first step is to install the batteries. To do this, open the battery compartment and install them, observing the polarity. Then you need to open the cold water and gas valves. Open the hot liquid tap on the nearest faucet.
At the moment when the liquid flows through the water unit, a spark ignition occurs and, thanks to this, the burner ignites. If it is turned on for the first time or after a long period of inactivity, air may accumulate in the gas line; in order to remove it, you will need to open the mixer several times, hold it for a minute, and then close it.
If the burner ignites, you need to turn the water pressure adjustment lever (located on the right) to the right, this will make it possible to turn on the Vektor JSD 20 device when the liquid pressure in the system has decreased.
How to adjust the temperature
In order to get high pressure of hot water, you need to turn the right handle as far as possible to the right, and use the left handle, which regulates the gas supply, to adjust the desired temperature.
However, if you have hard water coming from your tap, it is not recommended to set the heating temperature too high; it should be such that it does not need to be diluted at the mixer. Heating range 45-55 degrees.
Otherwise, this will lead to a malfunction of the device and the formation of plaque on the walls of the heat exchanger, which will interfere with normal heating and fluid flow. If you have hard water in your water supply, the heat exchanger must be cleaned every 6 months.
