One day Philips came to us, brought a razor and left. We got the hint. We looked at everything - there were even umbrellas. So there's nothing to lose! In addition, the Shaver 9000 are the most advanced of all in the company and have several features that greatly distinguish them from their analogues. Yes, yes, there will be a review now.
Almost every one of us starts our morning with a razor. Some people prefer machines, while others prefer electric models. I smoothly moved from the first camp to the second when I realized that even the most expensive and well-pumped machine would no longer be able to remove all the facial hair in one pass.
And you didn’t make a mistake!
So, to everyone who still uses machines. You are missing out on a lot. Electric razors are a real panacea for those who have to shave regularly. You won't give yourself a scratch by waking up in a bad mood. You can't cut off a piece of skin while being distracted by a ringing phone. You won’t spend money on consumables such as replacement blades. I just brushed it across my face and that’s it.
But in my opinion, the most important advantage of automation over a machine is that you can shave without foam or even water . It helps a lot on the road and generally puts you in the right mood: some creams, foams, water... we don’t need that, right? Only hardcore, oh my.
There are a dime a dozen electric shavers on the market, and each has different features and designs. I started with the usual “horizontal” mesh ones – but then I realized that the options with round, rotary attachments shave a little cleaner and faster. I myself use a razor from Philips, but it simply cannot be compared in terms of coolness with the one that was brought the other day. Here is my test, thoughts and conclusions.
It didn’t take me long to come up with the subtitle, I confess. But in reality this is how it is. Three heads with blades are always better than two, much less one. In addition, the design here is quite complex, almost some kind of high-tech.
Philips 9000 razors are equipped with a dual blade system : one blade lifts the hair, and the second cuts it as close to the base as possible. The process is noticeably accelerated, your K.O.
The attachment looks monolithic, but when pressed, it follows the contours of the face due to the moving base, which evenly distributes all three segments of the razor (how!).
In addition, the block with blades inside each “head” has its own rotating mechanism , which is very useful for those who like aggressive shaving - when you press the blades against your face with all your might, so that everything goes especially quickly, boldly and clearly.
Philips is also proud of its clever V-Track , which cuts hair 30% closer to the base than conventional razors. In practice, this is true, plus I like that such a system should not “tear out” hair, as the previous, foil razor once did.
The set also includes a trimmer with adjustable comb height . This is a necessary thing for those who do not shave closely or care for a beard with a fixed shape. I don’t know about you, but I periodically straighten my hair with a trimmer - it’s faster than going to the hairdresser and usually no worse.
It's also a good idea to shave your neck with a trimmer, but you have to be careful, otherwise you'll look like you crawled out of the set of a zombie show.
The result is very worthy. Compared to the double-headed razor I had previously used, the process took about half as long : noticeably fewer passes were required before moving on to the other side of the face. I shaved completely in about a minute, during which time I managed to trim some semblance of a beard and goatee using a trimmer.
There is no dry skin, burning or redness. Everything is as it should be. This is why I love electric shavers! Especially this one.
Since childhood, we men have been fascinated by cool gadgets, preferably with a lot of buttons and flashing LEDs. There are charge level indicators and a blade speed control. But the most important feature of this series and this particular model is something else. In a stand, to be more precise.
Honestly, I would not refuse such a docking station, but for my iPhone. The fact is that it not only charges the razor, but also cleans it and lubricates it . Herself.
A cartridge of a special blue liquid is “charged” into the stand. No water needed. After installing the razor inside, the docking station starts cleaning the internal components of the razor head: it rinses the blades and lubricates them.
How to choose an electric razor
When choosing an electric shaving machine, they study the types and distinctive features of the mechanisms, focusing on the needs of a man.
Device type
Electric clippers differ from each other in their shaving system, which can be of two types.
- Mesh: during operation of the machine, the blades move in accordance with the oscillatory principle: right - left. A thin mesh covers the top of the knives. The hairs fall through the holes in the mesh and are cut off. The devices hardly irritate the skin of the face and easily remove long stubble.
- Rotary. The blades are attached to rotating heads. The heads fit tightly to the face and cut the hairs at the root. Causes skin irritation. Copes with rough stubble. Suitable for a smooth shave. They often come complete with attachments.
It is impossible to say which machine shaves better. But if you decide to shave your head or shave your beard, you should pay attention to the mesh model.

Mobility and number of heads
Electric shaving machines for men have a different number of heads: rotary – 2 – 5, foil – 1 – 4 (the more, the faster the device shaves). Machines with floating heads are good. Moving freely, they follow the contours of the face, touch the skin closely and shave cleanly.
Shaving method
There are 2 types of electric shavers used - for dry and wet shaving, although most models are classified as a universal type. Wet shaving is suitable for men with sensitive skin. To improve glide and reduce irritation, use foam. To prevent germs from multiplying on wet blades, the device is disinfected after use.
Indicators
Men's electric shavers are equipped with indicators that reflect the operating mode of the equipment and the state of the power supply.
Nozzles
Useful tips include:
- trimmer - an additional retractable or removable blade, with the help of which the contours of a mustache, beard, and neck are drawn; shorten long hairs;
- block for collecting shaved hair;
- comb-shaped attachment for beard care; helps maintain the same distance between the knives and the skin of the face;
- a brush for cleaning the heads from dust and stuck hairs.
The presence of attachments makes the work efficient.
Power supply
The type of power supply affects the battery life. Budget devices are equipped with nickel-cadmium or nickel-metal hydride batteries. At a higher price, you can buy models powered by lithium batteries that do not have a “memory effect” and charge quickly.
Men leading an active lifestyle prefer models with fast charging. In 5 minutes the device is charged for a time sufficient for one session. Those who spend a lot of time on the road will appreciate machines with built-in batteries. Modern electric razors operate from mains, battery, or mains and battery.
Functionality
The devices differ in functionality:
- road lock – protects against accidental activation on the road;
- Auto-clean automatically cleans the shaving heads;
- Possibility of cleaning with running water;
- non-slip insert on the handle made of materials that improve the ergonomics of the machine - carbon fiber, rubber;
- stators - external knives that remain motionless during operation (the more stators, the better the stubble is shaved);
- Double blades improve shaving quality by lifting even coarse hairs.
Electronically controlled devices are equipped with a display that shows information about the battery charge level; speed of work; need to replace knives.
Rotary electric shavers for men
Philips specializes in the production of rotary electric shavers.

How SmartClean self-cleaning works in Philips shavers (video):
I'm wondering how this liquid works. Does it really split hair? I didn’t check it, especially since the cartridge was very neatly sealed, and I didn’t really want to take it out later. After each procedure, the gel seems to remain on the razor in a minimal amount, but the skin did not react to it in any way. There is no alcohol in the composition , so everything was predictable.
I was pleased that the progress of cleaning and lubrication is demonstrated in real time by an arc of LEDs in the docking station. At the same time, the stand (or razor, it’s hard to tell) makes a quiet buzzing sound that can’t be heard from the bathroom. According to the specifications, one cartridge is enough for three months of regular cleaning, but if you want, you can extend its effect for much longer. It can be replaced in a couple of seconds: you lift the lid up and insert a new one into the compartment below.
I tested it for a week. Razor - OK . The face is clean, and so are the blades. Shaved, stuck it in, left - tomorrow (or already in the evening) she is waiting for you in the best possible way. Well done Philips, if only containers with liquid do not disappear from sale in a couple of years.
What I liked:
- powerful blade design – cuts hair quickly and cleanly;
- shaves perfectly ;
- when pressed, it adapts to the face's muzzle;
- good trimmer and attachments - beard is fine;
- docking station with cleaning and lubrication of blades - a fairy tale;
- comfortable shape and rubberized handle;
- There is a hard case included.
What I didn't like:
- cartridges need to be changed, although rarely;
- I don’t know, he probably doesn’t carry coffee. I didn't find any more flaws.
I hope that a similar model will settle in with one of the readers - and will delight not only him, but also the sticky girls. The cleaning system looks like a real hello from the future : very convenient and really works. It’s a pity that such a docking station cannot be purchased for an iPhone: it would be great if it could be “cleaned” of dust while charging...
PS: The iPhone itself sometimes serves as a razor for me. The gaps between the glass and the body of the “six” with enviable consistency absorb hair from “bearded men” with a characteristic click and unpleasant sensations. Or is it just me? The topic is important and needs to be discussed urgently
