Why does an Android smartphone need more RAM?

Phones with a large amount of memory always mean faster work and the ability to save multimedia data without worrying about the gadget freezing.

The device needs RAM for speed, while flash memory is needed to store downloaded applications, music, videos, and captured photos. A review of smartphones with large RAM and permanent memory will tell you about the features of these devices.

HUAWEI P30 Pro – responsive and autonomous

Those who like to photograph the model from HUAWEI will like it: there is not one camera in the phone, but 3. There are three rear cameras with 40, 20 and 8 megapixels. There is also a 32 MP front camera: now selfies will be even better.

The result of the pictures is influenced by the built-in laser-type autofocus, optical stabilization, as well as the macro mode.

The LED rear flash will adjust the lighting in the dark, and the Mali-G76 MP10 video processor will allow you not only to make cool videos, but also to quickly view them.

The base is equipped with a HiSilicon Kirin 980 processor with 8 cores, RAM is 8 GB - this means that the phone will quickly respond to user actions.

The amount of built-in memory is amazing – 256 GB. There is a nuance - the slot for an additional flash card is combined with a slot for a SIM card. The cost of such a device is approximately 48,000 rubles. Pros:

  • excellent camera;
  • autonomy – non-removable 4200 mAh battery;
  • fast charging;
  • phone speed;
  • good radio communication module;
  • presence of an infrared port.

There are few disadvantages, but they are there: the screen is small in resolution and does not have good color rendering, as well as inconvenient control between two SIM cards. The phone is not suitable for business people who constantly use two network operators and spend time reading e-books.

How to free up RAM?

Many smartphone owners think that to free up RAM they just need to open the list of previously running applications and then click “Close all”. In part, this actually helps free up some RAM, which will help, for example, run the game better. But sometimes more effective methods are required.

Many branded shells have built-in tools for freeing up RAM. Applications can be unloaded from it automatically, once every certain period of time. But much more often you have to free up memory manually. Let's consider the user's actions using the example of a smartphone from Samsung:

Step 1 : Go to Settings.

Step 2. Click on the “Optimization” item.

Step 3. Wait until the device check is completed, then click on the “RAM” item. Or click on the “Optimize” button if you want to free up permanent memory at the same time.

Step 4. An additional check will be launched in the “RAM” subsection. Then you need to click the “Clear” button. The system will first tell you exactly how much RAM will be freed.

On smartphones and tablets from other companies, the built-in optimizer utility may be located somewhere in the menu; in this case, visiting “Settings” is not required. There are proprietary shells without a built-in ability to free up RAM. Fortunately, no one is stopping the user from downloading a special application from Google Play that does the same thing. Setphone.ru has a separate article about the best optimizers for Android - all you have to do is choose the appropriate option. Let's try to download and install CCleaner.

Step 1. Launch the installed application. When starting for the first time, you will need to click the “Start” button.

Step 2. The program may also offer to upgrade to a paid version. It is devoid of advertising and supplemented with some useful features. If you don’t want to spend money yet, then click the “Continue for free” button.

Step 3. The main window of the application shows the filled amount of ROM and RAM. In order for the program to understand exactly how much volume can be freed, you should click the “Analysis” button.

Step 4. When launched for the first time on new versions of Android, a warning will appear stating that the utility needs permissions to work with certain sections of the operating system. Click the "Clear" button and grant the requested permissions.

Step 5. The analysis can take quite a long time - it all depends on how long ago CCleaner was last launched. When the process is completed, you need to check the boxes next to those elements that can be deleted from permanent and RAM memory. After this, all that remains is to click the “Clear” button.

Step 6. In the future, you can tell the program to automatically clear RAM and ROM. This is done in a separate section. However, to activate this feature you will need to purchase a paid version of the application.

Clearing RAM in modern versions of Android is rarely required. Basically, this action may be needed before starting some very heavy game. In general, you don't have to think about RAM if the amount of this type of memory is equal to or greater than 4 GB.

OnePlus 7 is the best Android shell with a juicy screen

The Chinese company, a subsidiary of BBK, recently began producing mobile devices and immediately offered users an option with a large amount of memory. The amount of built-in memory here is 256 GB, but that's not all.

RAM will surprise any experienced user - 12 GB. This indicator means one thing – the speed of the gadget is excellent.

You can simultaneously watch movies, chat on social networks, and do everything, thanks to the powerful Qualcomm Snapdragon 855 processor with 8 cores. The cost of the device is around 33,000 rubles, which is quite acceptable for the proposed speed indicators.

The base is equipped with an Adreno 640 video processor - top-level smartphone graphics, part of the Qualcomm Snapdragon 855 chipset, which is the flagship in 2021.

A few advantages of OnePlus 7:

  • high autonomy – 3700 mAh battery, non-removable;
  • a huge and convenient screen with excellent color reproduction, measuring 6.41 inches;
  • 2 nano SIM cards;
  • 2 rear cameras of 48 and 5 megapixels, one front camera of 16 megapixels.

The device will disappoint those who dream of a compact and lightweight smartphone - this cannot be said about the OnePlus 7. Its weight is 182 g, and its elongated shape does not allow it to fit completely into the palm. Another drawback is that the screen must be constantly adapted to the ambient lighting conditions.

Conclusion

The specifics of Android are such that having 5-10% free RAM is the norm. Therefore, there is no point in rushing to buy a new smartphone with 1-2 GB more RAM if multitasking is not important. Because in the end the free space value will be the same 5-10%. It is more important to pay attention not to volume, but to quality - number of channels, type and frequency.

The minimum amount of RAM for normal Android operation is 2 GB. If the screen resolution is 2K and/or there is an additional shell, it is reasonable to think about the 3 GB version. The additional amount of RAM will be useful for comfortable gaming performance. Devices with modules of 4 GB or more should be considered if multitasking is a priority. Since the increase in RAM leads to an increase in processes, which does not have the best effect on the autonomy of the device.

Samsung Galaxy S10+ - great file storage and the best camera

A Samsung with great memory is the dream of fans of this brand. The model is equipped with a huge storage capacity of 1 TB. But this advantage comes with a high price for the phone - about 126,000 rubles, with 12 GB of RAM on board.

There is another specification – 512 GB of permanent internal memory and 8 GB of RAM. This option costs 100,000 rubles.

Another specification is 8 GB of RAM and 128 GB of internal memory for storing files: 47,000 rubles. We can conclude: the larger the memory capacity, the higher the cost of the device.

Everything about this model is great: water and dust protection is well implemented, a large 6.4-inch screen, and the ability to choose the type of case - ceramic or metal. Samsung has taken care of its users by giving them space to think before purchasing. Main bonuses of the Samsung Galaxy S10+ model:

  • magnificent screen;
  • loud sound from speakers without distortion;
  • long battery life – 4100 mAh battery;
  • good camera with wide-angle lens;
  • 3.5mm minijack jack;
  • The phone is optimized for one-handed operation.

The model is ideal for those who want to get maximum speed from performance, but it is not suitable for users who do not want to spend money on advanced phone functionality.

Samsung Galaxy Note 10+ 12/256GB

Rating: 4.9

Do you have a laptop or desktop computer? If so, how much RAM does it have? Most people's computers only have 8GB of RAM, and sometimes less. Well, the top version of the Samsung Galaxy Note 10+ received as much as 12 GB! But just a few years ago, the Android operating system simply did not recognize such a volume!

In fact, it is still questionable whether a flagship smartphone from Samsung can even consume such an amount of RAM. Yes, you can keep a lot of different messengers in the background. You can start some game. The smartphone is able to monitor your physical activity and current location. But it is unlikely that this will consume at least half of the memory available here. Therefore, we can safely say that 12 GB is a reserve for the future. Now, such a volume will truly please only those who are going to use this phablet for regular video editing. But 256 GB of permanent memory is already an urgent reality. Well, how can you get by with a smaller volume if the camera installed here is capable of 4K video shooting?

This smartphone continues the line of South Korean devices equipped with a multifunctional stylus. Here this additional accessory plays the role of a magic wand - with its help you can remotely control the display of presentations and videos. Another unique technology of South Korean flagship devices is DeX. In the case of the Galaxy Note 10+, it does not require a separate docking station. You simply connect your smartphone to the monitor, after which you get a convenient interface made in the style of the Windows operating system.

This device can be used in any conditions. Even diving into a pool is acceptable, as decent water protection is implemented here. The image is displayed on a huge 6.8-inch display with a resolution of 3040x1440 pixels. AMOLED technology was used to create it. The front camera, which has a 10-megapixel sensor, is located in a small round cutout. By the way, the screen aspect ratio of 19:9 indicates convenient simultaneous work with several applications and comfortable viewing of movies. By the way, what is happening on the screen is accompanied by excellent stereo sound!

I can talk about this phablet for a very long time. He received all the modern technologies that are now available to his manufacturer. In particular, the device squeezes absolutely everything out of LTE networks, downloading files in multiple streams at an unusually high speed. The device also boasts an excellent camera, which includes four modules. There is even support for Wi-Fi 802.11ax, although at the time of writing this review this standard has not yet been certified in Russia. You can only complain about the weight of the smartphone, which reaches an impressive 196 g. And the price will not please everyone. However, sales reports indicate that there are a considerable number of people living in our country who are not at all deterred by such a price tag.

Advantages

  • Incredible amount of RAM;
  • Comes with a multifunctional stylus;
  • The latest version of the OS is used;
  • Water protection implemented;
  • Wonderful AMOLED display;
  • Excellent rear camera;
  • Ultra-high-speed networks supported;
  • There is a slot for a memory card;
  • Long battery life;
  • There is a fingerprint scanner.

Flaws

  • The amount of permanent memory will not suit everyone;
  • Very high cost;
  • The smartphone turned out to be heavy.

OnePlus 7 Pro 12/256GB

Rating: 4.8

Another smartphone with 12 GB of RAM, now from a Chinese manufacturer. It is also ready to contain a huge number of running applications in the background. Unlike the South Korean, this device has a solid screen. This means that there are no cutouts for the front camera lens. Therefore, nothing will prevent you from getting true pleasure from watching films. The 19.5:9 aspect ratio also contributes to this.

Is it possible that this device, priced at 46 thousand rubles, did without a front camera? No, this camera just slides out of the body here. The presence of such a mechanism did not affect the reliability of the device in any way - the manufacturer claims that the smartphone can be safely dropped and nothing will happen to the camera. Some people open beer caps with a retractable module, it fits so tightly to the inside of the device.

The screen installed here has a diagonal of 6.67 inches and a resolution of 3120x1440 pixels. It is created using AMOLED technology, which allows you to hope for perfect black colors and long battery life. And how could it be otherwise, if the capacity of the battery located under the body is 4000 mAh? Inside the smartphone there is an eight-core Snapdragon 855 processor. 256 GB of permanent memory are provided for data storage. Unfortunately, there is no slot for a microSD card, so regular video shooting in 4K resolution may cause problems.

If you suddenly notice a lack of free space, it is recommended to use cloud services. Access to them is carried out at high speed, because the device supports both LTE-A category 16 and Wi-Fi 802.11ac. Also among the wireless modules present here is Bluetooth 5.0. Of course, NFC, which is needed for contactless payment, has not been forgotten.

Everyone knows that South Korean flagships do an excellent job of photography. But the Chinese OnePlus 7 Pro is in no way inferior to them. It uses a triple rear camera, the main module of which has a 48-megapixel matrix. As mentioned above, this smartphone can shoot 4K video, and even at a frequency of 60 frames/s.

Included with this device you will find a Warp Charge 30 charger. With it, you don’t have to worry about your smartphone suddenly starting to discharge. This AC adapter charges the OnePlus 7 Pro in just half an hour so that you can use it until nightfall.

Advantages

  • There is a fingerprint scanner;
  • Unusually huge amount of RAM;
  • The latest version of Android is installed;
  • Excellent AMOLED display;
  • Wonderful rear camera;
  • A large number of high-speed wireless modules;
  • Excellent retractable front panel;
  • Long battery life;
  • Very powerful processor.

Flaws

  • The weight of the smartphone reaches 206 g;
  • There is no memory card slot;
  • High price.

ASUS ROG Phone II ZS660KL 12/512GB

Rating: 4.7

ASUS has been promoting the Republic of Game line of laptops for quite some time. Such devices are designed for gamers, so they are equipped with top-end specifications. Now this line includes some smartphones. One of them is ASUS ROG Phone II. What does a player need from such a device? High frame rate. This model easily provides it. To achieve this, it is equipped with an extremely powerful eight-core processor and a 120 Hz display. And it is the latter that is the main distinguishing feature of the smartphone.

The AMOLED screen is pleasant to use in any conditions. Its black colors can safely be called ideal. The resolution of 2340×1080 pixels allows you to enjoy viewing photos. Well, the aspect ratio of 19.5:9 indicates high comfort when watching videos. By the way, the high frame rate is clearly noticeable not only in games, but also when using the interface of the Android 9.0 operating system - moving around it is very smooth.

This device does a good job of taking photos and videos. Although it must be admitted that in this regard it is still inferior to the flagships from the South Korean company Samsung. On the back panel of ASUS ROG Phone II there is only a dual camera, the matrices of which have a resolution of 48 and 13 megapixels. The f/1.79 aperture means there may be problems when shooting in low light conditions. As for the front camera, it is 24 megapixel.

The device received a lot of various wireless modules. In particular, there is an NFC chip, thanks to which contactless payment is implemented. Well, Wi-Fi 802.11ac and LTE-A are used to access the Internet. If we talk about memory, then it is unlikely that its volume will seem insufficient to anyone. 12 GB of RAM - this should be enough for absolutely any application. Well, 512 GB of permanent memory are intended for storing media files. Compared to them, the absence of a slot for a microSD card does not seem scary at all.

ASUS ROG Phone II can boast of long battery life, because under its body there is a 6000 mAh battery. Of course, it supports modern fast charging technology. But because of such a battery, you will have to bear a lot of weight.

Advantages

  • There is a fingerprint scanner;
  • A very high-capacity battery is used;
  • Huge amount of memory;
  • A very powerful processor is installed;
  • A large number of high-speed wireless networks;
  • Good front camera;
  • Excellent AMOLED display with increased frame rate;
  • The latest version of Android is used.

Flaws

  • The weight of the smartphone reaches 240 g;
  • The rear camera won't suit everyone;
  • High price;
  • No memory card slot.

Nubia Red Magic 3s 12/256GB

Rating: 4.7

ZTE, which owns the Nubia sub-brand, also released its own gaming smartphone. Its device can boast not only top-end characteristics, but also a memorable design. The back panel of the device seems to be ripping itself open, as if the insides are sticking out of it! Typically, many gaming laptops have a similar appearance.

Nubia Red Magic 3s runs Android 9.0. The front panel of the device is occupied by an AMOLED display with a diagonal of 6.65 inches. The resolution of this screen cannot be called extremely high. But the eight-core Snapdragon 855 Plus processor has enough power to display images in games at a very high frequency. It is also impossible not to note the aspect ratio of 19.5:9, which facilitates comfortable viewing of movies and entertainment videos.

Nowadays, an increasing number of smartphones have dual and even triple cameras at their disposal. It is all the more surprising to see here on the back and front panels there is only one lens. It must be admitted that the 48-megapixel camera does its job well. But this does not change the fact that it is not capable of zooming in on the picture or providing wide-angle photography. The aperture of this module is opened to f/1.7 - again, not a record. As for the front camera, it has a 16-megapixel resolution.

In terms of wireless modules, the device has no problems. All of them support high speeds, which can be useful both when traveling on the World Wide Web and in games. Well, 12 GB of RAM allows even Google Chrome to feel at ease. The only thing that causes some confusion for the user is the permanent memory, the volume of which here is 256 GB. Modern games are very heavy, so you won’t be able to keep a large number of them on your smartphone. There is no memory card slot here. And it would be useful to anyone who wants to use the rear camera very often.

Autonomous operation of the device is ensured by a 5000 mAh battery. With an AMOLED screen, this is quite enough to not remember the existence of the network adapter throughout the day.

Advantages

  • The latest version of the OS has been installed;
  • Great design;
  • Decent AMOLED display;
  • Built-in very powerful processor;
  • Good quality of photo and video shooting;
  • High-speed networks supported;
  • Huge amount of RAM;
  • Decent battery life;
  • There is a fingerprint scanner.

Flaws

  • I would like a triple or at least dual camera;
  • The smartphone cannot be called light;
  • High price;
  • No NFC chip;
  • No memory card slot;
  • Not everyone will like the branded shell.

Samsung Galaxy S10+ 8/128GB

Rating: 4.6

Another smartphone from the South Korean company Samsung. It is also considered a flagship. Four color variations of this model are on sale. There are also options with a processor of our own production, and with a chip from Qualcomm. However, in our country you can only find a version with Exynos 9820 on board. It is helped by 8 GB of RAM. This is no longer a record volume, but even this is enough for many years of using the device. As for permanent memory, 128 GB are waiting for the buyer. Not enough, but there is a slot for a microSD card, so it’s unlikely that this will be enough for you.

As expected, the device has an AMOLED display. In this case, its diagonal is 6.4 inches. The 19:9 aspect ratio allows you to watch movies and videos without much inconvenience.

There is a triple camera setup on the back of the device. She takes excellent photographs, no matter how dark it is around. As for the front camera, its 10-megapixel resolution will also be quite sufficient. I’m glad that you can take pictures of yourself even somewhere at sea or in a pool, because the smartphone has received full water protection. Pictures and videos can be immediately transferred to social networks. This won’t take much time; the device has support for all known high-speed networks, even Wi-Fi 802.11ax.

The South Korean manufacturer sought to produce a relatively lightweight smartphone. This must be why he did not build a record-breaking capacity battery into it. However, 4100 mAh is quite a decent parameter, which is enough for about a day and a half of using the device.

Advantages

  • The weight of the smartphone does not exceed 175 g;
  • Water protection implemented;
  • Long battery life;
  • The latest version of Android is installed;
  • Excellent AMOLED display;
  • Wonderful rear camera;
  • High-speed wireless networks supported;
  • A powerful processor is used;
  • There is a slot for a memory card.

Flaws

  • Not a very large amount of permanent memory;
  • High price;
  • The power button is located a bit high;
  • Not very fast fingerprint scanner.

Huawei P30 Pro

Rating: 4.5

The new product from Huawei also received a huge amount of RAM. More specifically, it has 8 GB built in. This is more than enough for a very large number of even very heavy applications to work in the background. Well, 256 GB of permanent memory are intended for storing media files and games. If this suddenly seems not enough, you can use a memory card. In this case, you will have to refuse to install a second SIM card.

This smartphone is a flagship. But the manufacturer does not position its device as a gaming device, so you should not hope for an increased frame rate. The weight of the device is 192 g. Very little, especially if you remember that full water protection is implemented here. The dimensions of the gadget are quite decent; there is even room for a display whose diagonal reaches 6.47 inches. It was produced using OLED technology, so you can count on perfect black colors and low power consumption.

The device is powered by the Android 9.0 operating system and the eight-core HiSilicon Kirin 980 processor. The latter’s power is more than enough for surfing the Internet and running heavy games. The smartphone also supports almost all modern wireless networks. For example, it is capable of connecting to 802.11ac Wi-Fi. The NFC chip has not been forgotten, thanks to which you can pay for purchases with the device.

The main feature of the Huawei P30 Pro is the presence of a camera consisting of four modules. It provides the device with wide-angle shooting and even five-fold optical zoom! The main module has a 40-megapixel resolution, thanks to which photos are incredibly clear. But just recently, even SLR cameras with a full-frame matrix could not boast of such a resolution! If we talk about the front camera, it is located in the drop-shaped cutout of the display, and its resolution is 32 megapixels.

Another feature of the gadget is an analogue of the DeX function from Samsung. This means that a smartphone can be connected to a monitor, turning it into a computer. And many buyers claim that this function is implemented in the best possible way.

Otherwise, this is a typical smartphone with top specifications. It can be unlocked by scanning a fingerprint, photographing a face, and many other ways. As for the battery, its capacity is 4200 mAh. The charger is connected via the USB Type-C port. This process will be very fleeting.

If we talk about the disadvantages, the most important of them is the cost. A rare resident of Russia is willing to pay 54 thousand rubles for such a smartphone. Also, not everyone will like the lack of an audio jack here. Well, how long can you transfer us to an adapter?

Advantages

  • Water protection implemented;
  • The latest version of the OS has been installed;
  • The smartphone cannot be called particularly heavy;
  • Excellent OLED display;
  • Wonderful rear camera consisting of four modules;
  • High-speed networks supported;
  • Easy connection to the monitor;
  • Built-in very powerful processor;
  • Large amount of RAM and permanent memory;
  • There is a slot for a memory card;
  • There is a fingerprint scanner.

Flaws

  • Very high cost;
  • There is no earpiece in the classic design;
  • No 3.5mm audio jack;
  • Not the best video quality;
  • Inadequate automatic backlight brightness.

Honor 20 Pro 8/256GB

Rating: 4.5

Another frameless smartphone, the display of which has a hole for the front camera lens. It also runs Android 9.0. However, this is not at all surprising, because older versions of the operating system are simply not able to recognize 8 GB of RAM.

This model is in great demand, so the Chinese manufacturer has released as many as six color options. The body of the device is made of glass and metal. This can be said about almost all other representatives of our rating. This choice of the manufacturer can be called controversial, because the glass makes the device slippery. However, who now uses such an expensive smartphone without a case?

The front panel of this gadget houses an IPS display with a diagonal of 6.26 inches. Resolution is usual, 2340×1080 pixels. The 19.5:9 aspect ratio allows you to watch big-budget movies comfortably.

There are four lenses on the back of the device. This number of camera modules allows you to zoom in three times, use wide-angle shooting, and blur the background. The resolution of the main module has been increased to an incredible 48 megapixels. However, don't expect the image to be incredibly detailed. But it will definitely be light, because the aperture here is opened to f/1.4. As for the front camera, its resolution has been increased to 32 megapixels.

The device supports high-speed wireless networks - LTE, Wi-Fi 802.11ac and Bluetooth 5.0. The Chinese manufacturer did not forget about the NFC chip. Also hidden under the body of the gadget are 256 GB of permanent memory and a top-end eight-core HiSilicon Kirin 980 processor. All this goodness is powered by a 4000 mAh battery. Alas, you shouldn’t count on long-term operation from a full charge - the display manufacturing technology affects it.

Advantages

  • There is a fingerprint scanner;
  • High-speed wireless networks supported;
  • Excellent rear camera consisting of four modules;
  • Built-in extremely powerful processor;
  • Large amount of RAM and permanent memory;
  • A huge number of color options;
  • Weight does not exceed 182 g;
  • The latest version of the OS is used.

Flaws

  • Not very long battery life;
  • The display is made using IPS technology;
  • No memory card slot;
  • The macro lens hides a simple matrix underneath.

Xiaomi Mi 8 Pro 8/128GB

Rating: 4.4

Xiaomi has also created its own smartphone with a large amount of RAM. Although one cannot help but admit that this is atypical for her, because the Chinese are trying to produce inexpensive devices. However, it is noticeable here that the manufacturer tried in every possible way to save money. For example, he endowed his creation with a relatively inexpensive AMOLED display with a unibrow. Its diagonal is 6.21 inches and its resolution is 2248x1080 pixels. The Android 8.1 operating system is responsible for what happens on the screen. The body of this model is made of aluminum and glass. The weight of only 177 g indicates that the components are not the most powerful.

Let's immediately note the components on which the manufacturer saved. This is the rear camera. Yes, it is double, but in fact it does not provide a single interesting opportunity. The Chinese have also reduced the amount of permanent memory and rid their device of a slot for a microSD card. It should also be noted that the battery capacity has been reduced to 3000 mAh. Rest assured, you will have to use the charger every night. Its connection is made via the USB Type-C port. You will have to connect wired headphones to the same connector.

Otherwise, the manufacturer did not make a mistake. He endowed his creation with a 20-megapixel front camera. The device also received a huge number of high-speed wireless modules. Even the NFC chip has not been forgotten, thanks to which the smartphone can be used to pay for purchases. And the processor used here is the eight-core Snapdragon 845, which until recently was considered the most powerful in the world. The amount of RAM is 8 GB, which can also be considered an excellent parameter. Finally, a fingerprint scanner completes the joyful picture.

Advantages

  • Decent amount of RAM;
  • Built-in powerful processor;
  • High-speed wireless modules are used;
  • Not a bad “front-facing”;
  • There is a light indication of events;
  • Not bad AMOLED display;
  • The smartphone turned out to be relatively light.

Flaws

  • No 3.5mm audio jack;
  • Not a particularly capacious battery;
  • I would like more permanent memory;
  • No microSD card slot;
  • Not the best rear camera;
  • Waterproofing would be nice.

Honor 20 Pro – 4 cameras and a powerful processor

Every manufacturer wants their gadget to be productive and safe for the user, so most brands refuse the additional ability to expand memory in favor of built-in capacity.

Honor 20 Pro is an option for those who are interested in a fast interface and reliable 4G signal reception. Even where it is unlikely.

The phone is equipped with 256 GB of internal memory and 8 GB of RAM. Huawei SuperCharge fast charging saves time when you need to charge your smartphone.

The case size will appeal to those who like their phone to fit in the palm of their hand. The device has an NFC system installed - this means that you can transfer information between gadgets at a distance of about 10 cm using wireless technology. Advantages:

  • autonomy;
  • high system speed – HiSilicon Kirin 980 processor with 8 cores;
  • 4 cameras – 48, 16, 8 and 2 megapixels, front camera 32 megapixels;
  • stylish design even without a case;
  • lithium polymer battery that performs well in all weather conditions;
  • image stabilization when shooting.

Those who have long loved wireless charging will be disappointed here - it is missing. Memory expansion is impossible due to the lack of a slot for a flash drive, but why is it needed if the smartphone already boasts large storage capacities. The cost of the device is 30,000 rubles.

What does RAM affect?

What benefits does a user get if a smartphone has an increased amount of RAM? On such a device, more applications can run in the background. That is, the Internet browser will not load the page from scratch if you return to it after visiting many other programs. Also, with a large amount of RAM, a huge number of instant messengers, a torrent client and other types of applications can work in the background. But the performance of the operating system itself depends not so much on the volume as on the speed characteristics of the RAM. Affects the operation of Android or iOS OS and optimization of the operating system.

Bill Gates once said that 640 KB of RAM is enough for any computer. Now even a mobile operating system requires approximately 1 GB, and to this you also need to add a proprietary shell and applications that are then installed. And if the code is poorly optimized, then slowdowns and freezes will occur in any case. A good example is Samsung smartphones and tablets released before 2015. There was a sufficient amount of RAM in such devices, but the cumbersome and unoptimized interface literally forced the gadget to slow down from time to time.

The battery life depends on the amount of RAM. Everything here is banal. A large number of background processes loads the CPU quite heavily. And this, in turn, entails increased energy consumption. Smartphone manufacturers are fighting this with a thinner chipset process technology, a larger battery, and better optimization of pre-installed software.

How much memory does Android use?

Let's move from theory to practice and find out how much RAM the Android OS consumes. As an example, let's take the Motorola Moto X2 and Droid Turbo smartphones, which have 2 and 3 GB memory modules installed, respectively. It is important to note that these figures are given as an example, and the result is affected by the number of active programs and system processes.

On the graph of active processes of Moto X2, the system partition uses 611-635 MB. User applications occupy 631 MB, and available memory is approximately 600 MB. If you switch to cached processes, the amount of memory used will be 1300 MB - the sum of the system and user partitions. An additional 266 MB is occupied by the background process cache, leaving 317 MB unused.

To view in detail what memory is being used for, go to the developer menu, settings section and select “statistics of running processes”. Next, look at the details of the memory state. Of the total amount of RAM, free – 114 MB.

In active Motorola Droid Turbo processes, the system and accessible partitions each have approximately 1 GB of RAM. Running applications consume 663 MB. In cached processes, occupied memory is 1.7 GB, background process cache is 881 MB, and free memory is 154 MB.

In a detailed analysis of RAM consumption in the developer section, the amount of memory used is higher in comparison with the Moto X2. It is also worth paying attention to the last two screenshots taken at different times. Of the total memory, 170 and 298 MB are free.

An additional gigabyte of RAM did not noticeably affect the amount of free memory. For both devices the indicator is in the range of 5-10%. Moreover, in the case of Droid Turbo, the system used additional space for caching high-resolution graphics.
