What is special about hybrid DVRs?

Combo or hybrid recorders are often called radar recorders. This is a fairly well-established but incorrect use of the term. It is more correct to call such models - recorders with radar detectors. The radar detector detects signals from radars and warns the driver in advance about their use.

The radar detector creates interference and blocks the operation of radar installations so that the driver can exceed the permissible speed limit with impunity. Radar detectors are prohibited in most countries of the world, including Russia. However, the use of radar detectors is also illegal in some countries, mainly European ones. In Russia, there are no restrictions on radar detectors.

In addition to a radar detector, many dash cam models are also equipped with a GPS informant, or speed cam. This is a system that stores a database of the location of cameras, radars and other objects, even speed bumps

. At the right moment, the speedcam will warn the driver about the approaching “threat”, but its effectiveness depends on the frequency of updating the database.

Combining a radar detector and a GPS informer in one device helps protect against both active “threats” in the form of a traffic police officer with a portable radar, and passive ones – cameras with photo and video recording.

  • Combination recorders will be most useful for drivers who drive not only around the city, but also on the highway.
  • If you drive exclusively around the city, you will most likely only need a speedcam.

Inspector Scat SE

Another miniature device, this time from a South Korean brand. The flagship of the 2021 line, so it’s not cheap at all. What's remarkable here?

For the DVR, we note the ultra-wide-angle lens with an angle of 170°. Typically, such wide angles produce large distortions, but on the other hand, the camera's field of view is quite large. Videos are written in resolutions up to 2560x1440p - not everyone works with this. The device has a 520 mAh battery and a microphone - you can shoot video outside the car and comment on it.

There is nothing surprising with the radar detector: there is support for all ranges, several operating modes for the city and the highway. What is important, in addition to signal recognition (by the way, a signature module is installed here), the device uses electronic cartography. Due to this, the user always sees the established speed limits on the site, prohibited parking and stopping zones. In addition, mapping allows the hybrid to automatically change modes depending on the current location of the vehicle.

How much do recorders with radar detectors cost?

Budget segment

Hybrid recorders are in the region of 8–10 thousand rubles. There are quite a few frankly weak models in this price range: with a GPS informer without a normal separation by camera type, rare database updates and constant radar detector errors. Nevertheless, we have selected several high-quality inexpensive devices.

Mid-budget segment

is in the range of 10–15 thousand rubles. There are already quite a few recorders with good pictures and a well-developed radar section. More expensive models are equipped with additional features such as Wi-Fi and a second camera.

High end models

cost from 15 thousand rubles. Recorders in this price range may feature powerful radars with advanced software, impeccable image quality, or an unusual form factor for such devices, for example, in the form of an overlay on a mirror.

Rating of 3 in 1 DVRs

When compiling the review, our team was guided by consultants from stores selling DVRs from different manufacturers. We tested the most purchased products this year on a number of indicators:

  • Shooting quality;
  • Viewing angle;
  • Radar detection efficiency;
  • Set of options;
  • Mounting method;
  • Design, ergonomics;
  • Price, manufacturer's reputation.

The result of the comparative analysis was a top list of 12 nominees. We divided them into 3 subsections - 5 inexpensive, 4 mid-priced and 3 premium gadgets. Reviews of car owners identified the strengths and weaknesses of each and weeded out equipment of dubious quality.

What to look for when choosing a recorder with a “radar detector”

First, let's briefly go over the characteristics common to all models (you can read them in more detail in the guide to DVRs). In our top list of radar detector devices, we will evaluate each model according to all the criteria described here.

The quality of video recording depends on many factors: resolution, lens, frame rate, etc. Photography: videoregistratoravto.ru

Video quality

First of all, you should pay attention to parameters such as resolution, frame rate and viewing angle.

Most hybrids shoot in Full HD (1920 x 1080 pixels) and Super HD (2304 x 1296 pixels). There are also models with an even more advanced format - Quad Full HD (2560 x 1440 pixels). There are no hybrid 4K devices on the market yet, but there is little point in chasing such a resolution in a DVR. In general, the resolution is not the same as the final recording quality, so good Full HD will sometimes be better than bad 4K. Thus, Full HD / Super HD without artifacts and with decent night photography is quite enough.

The frame rate must be at least 30 fps, otherwise the picture may become blurry at night. The optimal viewing angle is 120–140 degrees (the side of the road/third lane of the road is included in the frame). A wider-angle camera (among high-end devices there are many models with a 170-degree lens) is a matter of personal preference, but you shouldn’t take something narrower than 120 degrees.

In addition to resolution, frame rate and viewing angle, in our rating we will take into account the overall picture quality - clarity, lack of artifacts and readability of car license plates (especially at night).

Frame

The dimensions of the device, the characteristics of the display and controls are important here.

On average, combo devices are larger than conventional recorders, so the dimensions of the model are especially critical. A recorder that is too large can obstruct your view, so the smaller it is, the safer it is.

Also, for recorders with a radar detector and speed cam, a display that shows the types of “threats” is important. It is worth choosing models with a screen of at least 2 inches.

When it comes to controls, it is better to give preference to models with clearly marked and easily accessible elements. It’s especially good if the main buttons are located on one side: it’s easier to press with one hand.

The ranking will take into account all these factors. However, a case that is too large or a display that is too small will result in a lower overall score.

Ease of fastening

The recorder (or rather, its bracket) is attached to the glass using ZM tape or a vacuum suction cup. Scotch tape is more reliable, but you can't change the location with it, unlike a suction cup. It is convenient if both mounting options are included in the package.

Magnetic mounting of the recorder to the bracket is the most convenient option. Photo: Nikita Perfilyev / market.yandex.ru

The best option for attaching the recorder to the bracket is magnetic. With it, you can quickly disconnect the device when leaving the car.

In the rating, we will take into account the reliability of the fastening, the presence of a suction cup along with adhesive tape in the kit, as well as a magnetic fastening.

Additional functions

Using the built-in Wi-Fi module, you can quickly update your speedcam databases and conveniently configure the recorder via your smartphone.

Some high-end recorders have permanent Internet access with a connection to cloud services. In this case, the recorder can be used as a GPS tracker and view the location on the map, as well as connect to the camera remotely. This is a fairly rare feature for combo devices, which are already more expensive than regular recorders.

The rear camera makes parking easier. There are models that come with a rear camera included, and some simply have an additional connector.

All these features will be taken into account in the rating. Devices without any additional features at all will receive 3 points. Whereas for the presence of Wi-Fi, a rear camera or some other interesting functions, which we will talk about in the descriptions of the models themselves, additional points will be awarded.

Now let's look at the parameters specific to DVRs with radar detectors.

GPS informant

Speedcam, or GPS informant, warns about police cameras, radars and other “threats”, drawing information from the built-in database. This system is similar to what can be found in popular navigators for mobile devices. Unlike a radar detector, the effectiveness of a speedcam depends on the quality and timeliness of database updates. It is important what types of objects the speedcam warns about: it is necessary that the device can distinguish speed cameras from public transport lane departure control systems. The GPS module itself (receiver) is also useful for travelers who ride through remote areas without communication and want to remember their routes.

Speedcam determines the location and type of radar or camera from a database. Photo: mobile-review.com

In our rating, the assessment of this item will be based on the accuracy and timeliness of database updates, the quality of the firmware and the accuracy of the GPS receiver itself.

Radar detector

It is almost impossible to determine the quality of a radar detector based on a set of characteristics. Here it is worth focusing on the brand: priority is given to manufacturers who have been developing radar detectors for several years in a row. It would also be a good idea to look at reviews from the owners of the model you are going to buy.

There are two main types of radar detectors: those with a horn antenna and the more compact devices with a patch antenna. According to tests, there is no significant difference in detection, while bulky horn antennas can also be found in expensive recorders.

An important selection criterion is the availability of signature technology. It first began to be used not so long ago, in 2021, but now signature radar detectors are in the lineup of almost all manufacturers. Signatures are “signatures” specific to the signals of each type of radar. Information about signatures is stored in the memory of the radar detector. Having detected certain signals, the recorder checks the database and makes a conclusion: whether the signal came from a radar or whether it was interference from another device. Typically, the database also contains signatures of various types of interference. Thus, signature technology helps to significantly reduce the number of false positives

.

A signature radar detector can operate in various modes, but there are almost always the following:

  • Classic “city” and “highway”, supplemented by checking with the interference database. In this case, the detector does not recognize radar models, but reduces the number of false alarms.
  • Signature mode for the city, in which notifications are received only from radars present in the database (as opposed to filtering by “interference” in the first type), and all unknown signals are filtered out. This mode is good in combination with a GPS informant.

When assessing the quality of a radar detector in our rating, we will pay attention to the presence of signature technology, as well as information that the detector did not respond to a real radar or gave a false signal.

How to choose 3 in 1 DVRs

The equipment market for car owners is full of various models of DVRs. Despite the fact that the basic functions of all are similar, there are still several fundamental differences. We recommend paying attention to the viewing angle, image quality, radar detection efficiency, functionality and mounting method.

Viewing angle

For such devices, the standard visibility is considered to be in the range of 70-120º. The larger it is, the wider the visual coverage without distortion. For a highway with several lanes, 120-130º is sufficient. And the highest viewing angle offered by manufacturers is 170º

Shooting quality

Three indicators are responsible for the shooting process and its quality: processor, optics, matrix. The clarity, saturation and detail of the picture depends on the resolution, it can be HD, Full HD, Super HD, Quad HD. There are many different technologies that improve visibility at night, in bright light, etc.

Radar detection efficiency

This parameter depends on detection technologies and database update frequency. It would be good if the user could adjust the camera response range and alert volume. New models allow you to set the type of police radars that need to be caught and which not.

Functionality

In addition to the stated 3 options, such equipment can offer many other useful features. For example, date and time recording, speed detection, shock sensor, wireless communication with smartphones or wired communication with TV. Consider storage capacity and battery capacity.

Fastening

Reliable fastening prevents play, rattling on the road, and ensures the stability of video recording. Most often, a vacuum suction cup or double-sided tape is used. When choosing a product, pay attention to the simplicity and speed of installation, the ability to adjust the tilt and angle.

Top 5 DVRs with radar detector

Playme P600SG (from 17,990 rubles)

Playme P600SG is a flagship combo recorder from Korean experts in signature technology. Photo: Youtube channel “Videoregobzor – Device Test”

Video recording quality — 5 Housing — 5 Ease of mounting — 4 GPS informer / receiver — 5 Radar detector — 5 Additional functions — 4 Average score — 4.7

Playme P600SG is a universal model with excellent video recording, an advanced radar detector and speedcam.

The P600SG shoots in Super HD with excellent detail across the entire frame. Night shooting is at the level - the “lights” from the headlights of the license plates are minimal, making them very easy to disassemble if necessary. At the same time, the camera also handles daytime lighting changes well.

The body is made of high-quality plastic, the screen is large, and the buttons are comfortable. A ball mount is used, with which you can tilt and rotate the recorder, but it is ideal only for good roads and cars with minimal body vibration. On uneven roads, the plastic mount causes slight shaking, which affects the clarity of still images.

But there are no complaints about the radar part. This is a signature detector with additional noise immunity, which practically reduces false alarms to zero. It effectively detects difficult-to-detect low-power radars. There are also no complaints about the operation of the speedcam and the regularity of its updates.

In general, this is a device with an excellent combination of a car recorder and a radar detector without unnecessary options on top.

Roadgid Premier SuperHD (from 16,490 rubles)

Thanks to the 5-megapixel Sony IMX335 matrix, this DVR produces an excellent picture. Photo: car-radar.ru

Video recording quality - 5 Housing - 5 Ease of mounting - 5 GPS informer / receiver - 4 Radar detector - 4 Additional functions - 5 Average score - 4.7

This flagship device of 2021 brings together the best developments of the brand. Roadgid Premier is equipped with a 5-megapixel Sony IMX335 sensor, which shoots at a resolution of 2304 x 1296 and 2560 x 1080 at 30 fps, or 1920 x 1080 at 60 fps. There is a removable polarizing filter for the lens.

The viewing angle is wide 170 degrees. The compact body with a large 3-inch screen (800 × 480 pixels) does not block it. A fairly convenient hinge mechanism is complemented by a magnetic fastening to the bracket.

Radar with signature technology produces isolated false alarms, but when used together with a speedcam, this does not create problems. The GPS tracking module and GPS informer work quite stably, the databases are updated regularly. The GPS database can be updated using a smartphone.

The recorder has a Wi-Fi module and you can install an additional rear camera.

TrendVision MR-720 COMBO (from 14,800 rubles)

One of the few hybrids in the form of a mirror overlay. Photo: mobile-review.com

Video recording quality — 5 Housing — 5 Ease of mounting — 5 GPS informer / receiver — 5 Radar detector — 4 Additional functions — 4 Average score — 4.7

TrendVision MR-720 COMBO is made in an unusual form factor for combo devices - in the form of an overlay on the rear mirror.

The model shoots video with a resolution of 2304 x 1296 and a bitrate of up to 36 Mbit/s. The result is a very detailed picture, but it will require a “fast” memory card. There are just two slots at once - microSD and SD for instant backup of videos. The kit also comes with a polarizing CPL filter that eliminates glare and reflections from the glass.

A high-quality Korean radar detector is attached to the recorder body using a magnetic mount. You can take it off in the city using a GPS informer, and quickly attach it when you go out on the highway. Unfortunately, this is not a signature radar detector, so if you use it in a city (especially in a large metropolis like Moscow), you will sometimes get false alarms. However, the GPS informer is very well designed: the databases are updated twice a day, and the receiver itself (GPS + GLONASS) maintains a stable signal.

A rear parking camera is connected to the recorder (without a video recording function), but the device does not have a Wi-Fi module.

Playme PRIME (from 13,990 rubles)

A worthy alternative to the flagship Playme P600SG, but without signature technology. Photo: megaobzor.com

Video recording quality — 5 Housing — 5 Ease of mounting — 5 GPS informer / receiver — 5 Radar detector — 4 Additional functions — 4 Average score — 4.7

PRIME is new for 2021 with a very compact (unlike the flagship Playme P600SG) body and magnetic mounting to the bracket. Power is supplied to it, so there is no need to remove the wire again.

The device is attached to the glass only using 3M adhesive tape, but the kit includes additional silicone pads: that is, it is better to attach the tape not directly to the glass, but to the pad, which peels off without leaving marks.

The recorder has a large, convenient screen and all the buttons are located on the front panel on one side - you can use it with one hand.

The device is equipped with a Sony IMX307 matrix with excellent sensitivity. The maximum PRIME resolution is 2304 x 1296 pixels at 30 fps. The fast lens has a universal viewing angle of 140 degrees. The camera quickly adjusts from light to shadow and is good at night photography. The kit includes a rotatable polarizing filter that eliminates glare and also enhances the brightness of the colors in the recording.

The radar detector has a patch antenna (that’s why the new product is so compact), recognizes all types of radars used in Russia, but the device does not have signature technology. Perhaps that's why PRIME is several thousand cheaper than the flagship P600SG. IQ RADAR mode automatically changes the sensitivity of the radar detector depending on the speed of movement. The GPS informer works properly, and the databases are constantly updated.

An additional rear camera can be connected to PRIME; There is no Wi-Fi module.

AXPER Combo Hybrid Wi (from 11,000 rubles)

This AXPER model has flagship specifications at a reasonable price. Photo: axper.ru

Video recording quality — 5 Housing — 5 Ease of mounting — 4 GPS informer / receiver — 3 Radar detector — 5 Additional functions — 5 Average score — 4.5

Among slightly cheaper devices, AXPER Combo Hybrid stands out. This model has a Sony Starvis IMX307 matrix, which can shoot video in Quad HD (2560 x 1440 pixels) with a bitrate of up to 28 Mbit/s. There is a version of the DVR with an additional rear camera - then both shoot in Full HD at 30 fps. A fast lens with an f/1.4 aperture also has a positive effect on the quality of video recording. At the same time, there are separate settings for night and day shooting, which is especially convenient.

The recorder body is very compact, although it has a large 3-inch display. The device is attached to a vacuum suction cup or 3M tape. Unfortunately, there is no magnetic fastening to the bracket - a plastic latch is used. The rear camera is attached only with tape.

The GPS/GLONASS module is represented by a device from the u-Blox company. Signal reception is stable, even in difficult reception conditions, such as driving under bridges. You can find reviews on the network about the work of the GPS informant that not all stationary cameras are represented in the database, but there are no problems with the release of updates. There are also a number of complaints about the implementation of the notification system: a lot of unnecessary words, slow notification.

The signature mode of the radar detector blocks false signals, ensuring a minimum level of false positives. The Anti-CAS system filters out interference based on signatures.

The more budget version of AXPER Combo Hybrid without Wi-Fi costs only 1000 rubles less than the version with a Wi-Fi module. But we evaluated exactly the model with the Wi-Fi module, through which it is convenient to update databases and firmware from a smartphone.

Top 3 budget DVRs with radar detector

Mio MiVue i85 (from 8990 rubles)

MiVue i85 is the first signature hybrid from Mio. Photo: Sergey Troshin / market.yandex.ru

Video quality — 4 Housing — 5 Ease of mounting — 3 GPS informer/receiver — 3 Radar detector — 5 Additional functions — 3 Average score — 3.8

The compact body of the Mio MiVue i85 is made of high-quality plastic, but the design of the bracket is not very successful. The recorder records in Full HD at 30 fps with good sharpness and has a completely working night mode.

The signature radar has standard modes for city and highway, and also has the ability to automatically adjust sensitivity, depending on speed. On the Internet you can come across negative reviews about the speedcam database: users complain that it is not entirely complete and does not always correctly notify about speed limits. Hopefully Mio will fix these issues in future updates. Overall, the MiVue i85 is a good signature combo device in the budget segment.

Carcam Combo 5 (from 8,490 rubles)

Carcam Combo 5 is a 5 in 1 device: recorder, radar detector, speedcam, GLONASS tracker and modem. Photo: videoregistratoravto.ru

Video recording quality — 5 Housing — 4 Ease of mounting — 4 GPS informer/receiver — 4 Radar detector — 3 Additional functions — 5 Average score — 4.2

We consider the Carcam Combo 5 to be the best budget hybrid recorder in terms of shooting quality. The model is equipped with an OmniVision OV4689 (4 MP) matrix, which shoots in Super HD resolution - the only shooting in the budget segment in 1296p format. The camera viewing angle is wide 160 degrees.

This is a not too small recorder with a horn antenna and a built-in GSM modem. For mounting, a swivel bracket with a suction cup is used, but without a magnet.

The radar detector does have false alarms - this is not a signature model. There are also rare problems associated with early GPS activation. At the same time, radar databases are updated regularly.

The Combo 5 does not have Wi-Fi, but you can insert a SIM card through a slot in the power adapter and thus connect to the device via a smartphone to update the database. You can also connect to a cloud server, tracking the location of the car in real time. Also from the 5S version, the AV-IN connector remains: through it you can connect the rear camera. Perhaps Carcam Combo 5 is the most advanced recorder in the budget segment in terms of additional functions.

Inspector Barracuda (from 8750 rubles)

Inspector Barracuda is a signature hybrid recorder with good video recording. Photo: MnMag.ru

Video recording quality — 4 Housing — 5 Ease of mounting — 4 GPS informer / receiver — 5 Radar detector — 4 Additional functions — 3 Average score — 4.2

If you choose a model in the budget segment that has the optimal balance of video recording and radar quality, then the most suitable option, in our opinion, would be the Inspector Barracuda.

“Barracuda” films in Full HD (1920 x 1080), but without the ability to adjust the image, which, of course, is not entirely convenient. As you might expect from a budget model, the picture is a bit noisy in low light and at night. The camera viewing angle is a universal 135°.

There are no particular complaints about the body; the device is not too compact, but not bulky either, despite the horn antenna. There is a visor above the screen that reduces glare.

The recorder is attached to the glass with a suction cup - the mount is quite reliable and does not rattle on rough roads. There is no magnetic fastening to the bracket, but the quick-release plastic one does not create any problems during operation.

This is not a signature device, so sometimes false alarms of the radar system are recorded, mainly in the city. The radar sensitivity is high, there is an automatic adjustment mode depending on the speed. The accuracy of the GPS/GLONASS module is at the level, the informant reports on all types of complexes, there are no complaints about the frequency of updates.

There are no interesting additional functions in the model; there is no Wi-Fi module, as well as the ability to connect an additional camera. This is a basic combo recorder that copes with its tasks, but you shouldn’t expect the efficiency of a high-end model from it.

Top 3 “radar-proof” recorders by picture quality

Inspector SCAT Se Quad HD (from 18,780 rubles)

The Inspector SCAT Se interface is completely designed for touch control. Photo: ixbt.com

Video recording quality — 5 Housing — 5 Ease of mounting — 4 GPS informer / receiver — 5 Radar detector — 5 Additional functions — 4 Average score — 4.7

Inspector SCAT Se with a 1/3-inch OmniVision OV4689 sensor shoots with Quad HD resolution (2560 × 1440 pixels) at 30 fps. The shooting bitrate reaches 40 Mbps, so you will need a “fast” UHS U3 class memory card. High quality recording does not depend on weather conditions and time of day thanks to the effective operation of automatic exposure compensation. A wide viewing angle (170°) captures all traffic across multiple lanes, as well as signs, traffic lights and sidewalk activity. Wide-angle lens distortion is automatically corrected using built-in software.

The device body is quite compact (105 x 70 x 39 mm), including due to the patch antenna. The pluses include the large 3.5 mm touch screen, but there are negative reviews online about its sensitivity.

The bracket is attached to the glass using a suction cup or adhesive tape, and the DVR is attached to it through a plastic latch.

The signature radar detector detects signals in various radiation ranges, including low-power ones, while eliminating false alarms. There is an IQ mode for automatically adjusting sensitivity depending on speed.

The GPS informer is updated weekly. There is a database of electronic maps eMap, which shows speed limits along the entire route and activates, if necessary, additional alerts (stop lines, control of a prohibited stopping and parking zone, etc.). However, there is no Wi-Fi module in the model.

Slimtec Hybrid X Signature (from 10,990 rubles)

The built-in Slimtec Hybrid X Signature software effectively copes with the fisheye effect. Photo: technomode.ru

Video quality — 5 Housing — 5 Ease of mounting — 4 GPS informer/receiver — 3 Radar detector — 4 Additional functions — 3 Average score — 4

Among cheaper recorders, the Slimtec Hybrid X Signature produces a really high-quality picture. The recorder shoots clear video in Super HD (2304 x 1296 pixels) at 30 fps. The OmniVision OV4689 matrix supports HDR recording with increased dynamic range, the picture is bright and rich. The 6-layer light-sensitive glass lens also improves video quality.

Despite the horn antenna, the recorder has a compact body. The bracket without magnetic fastening is attached to the glass with a suction cup.

A signature radar detector with smart noise filtering technology works quite well, but sometimes false alarms occur on the highway. The GPS informer effectively identifies all stationary points. The voice guidance is of high quality, meters are recorded in the coverage area until it ends. However, rare updates of GPS databases - only once every 3 months - can play a cruel joke. Therefore, it is better to rely on alerts from a radar detector.

Top 3 recorders for radar detector quality

SHO-ME Combo No. 1 Signature (from 12,990 rubles)

SHO-ME Combo No. 1 Signature effectively filters signals from CAS and door unlock sensors. Photo: drive2.ru

Video recording quality — 4 Housing — 4 Ease of mounting — 4 GPS informer/receiver — 3 Radar detector — 5 Additional functions — 3 Average score — 3.8

SHO-ME Combo No. 1 produces detailed video in Full HD at 30 fps, but the clarity of the image from the oncoming traffic is a little lame (slightly blurred image at the edges).

Complete with fasteners, the entire body of the device is large, but there are no questions about assembly: high-quality plastic is used. The fastening is standard - a bracket with a suction cup and a plastic latch.

But the radar from the Korean manufacturer turned out just right. The signature radar detector does not respond to signals from sensors of collision avoidance systems of other cars; it carries out digital signal processing. There is also a 700–1100 nm laser radiation detector. The radar recognizes all complexes and laser meters at a distance of more than 1 km without false alarms, thanks to interference filtering.

The GPS module is sensitive, but database updates do not always arrive on time.

Daocam Combo wifi (from 13,490 rubles)

This Daocam Combo detects even “super quiet” radar cameras. Photo: megaobzor.com

Video recording quality — 4 Housing — 5 Ease of mounting — 4 GPS informer / receiver — 5 Radar detector — 5 Additional functions — 5 Average score — 4.7

Daocam Combo wifi is equipped with a Sony Starvis IMX307 matrix, which shoots in Full HD resolution (1920 × 1080 pixels) at 30 fps. Both day and night the picture is at a fairly high level, but there is no Super HD. Includes a CPL filter to reduce glare.

The device body is compact and comparable in size to a conventional recorder. The pluses are also high-quality assembly and comfortable keys. Fastening to the glass with ZM tape, but it is not rotatable. On the other hand, the recorder is held on the bracket using a magnet, which is quite convenient.

An excellent signature radar detector recognizes both low-power systems and new complexes, while minimizing the number of false alarms due to interference filtering.

The GPS module works accurately, there are no complaints about updates. Using the built-in Wi-Fi module, you can update databases directly from your smartphone.

The device is equipped with a dual-channel stream - an optional rear camera with parking assistant is available, shooting in Full HD.

Radar detector Playme HARD 3

The HARD line in the Playme lineup appeared almost simultaneously with the founding of the company. Today we are already facing the third generation of these devices, and it was released already in 2018 (which clearly hints to us that it is not very easy to come up with something fundamentally new in the world of radar detectors).

Playme HARD 3

● Possibility of detecting radars in the K-Ka- and X-bands, as well as lidars;
● High-quality Korean assembly;

● GPS module with GPS informant function and an updated database of radars and speed cameras;

● Ability to add custom points to the database;

● Simple one-color LED display with brightness adjustment;

● Anti-CAS system to protect against false positives;

● Selective range shutdown function;

● Automatic adjustment of device sensitivity depending on speed

In our opinion, the average user is unlikely to need anything beyond this set. If you do not forget to update your database of radars and cameras on time, then a device like Playme HARD 3 will serve you well for a long time - the need for an upgrade will not arise soon.

Playme HARD 3

However, if you are a fan of top-end and flagship devices and are willing to pay about one and a half times more, then you will definitely like the Playme SILENT 2.

Price : 6990 rub.

Radar detector Playme SILENT 2

The Playme SILENT 2 radar detector, like all radar detectors from Playme, is developed and manufactured in South Korea. The model was released in 2021, and therefore is relatively new even in 2021.

Playme SILENT 2

The device is equipped with a black and white screen, which is better visible in low light conditions, as well as in bright sunlight (color screens look more “festive”, but from a practicality point of view, high-contrast black and white certainly wins).

The main feature of this model is the signature technology of radar recognition the technology for eliminating false alarms based on it . Roughly speaking, Playme SILENT 2 will be much less likely to bother the driver unnecessarily.

Agree, an overpayment of 3,000 rubles is quite an adequate price for the device not to distract you over trifles, and to work only when necessary!

Playme SILENT 2

Finishing the conversation about radar detectors, let us repeat the main characteristics: a modern radar detector must be able to detect radars emitting in the K-, Ka- and X-bands, as well as lidars (laser radars). A very useful (but not mandatory) feature will be the presence of a GPS receiver and a built-in updated database of cameras and radars.

Thanks to it, in particular, it is possible to track speed control systems that are in principle not tracked by a radar detector, such as Avtodoriya - an automatic system that measures the speed of a car by calculating the average speed on the site from photographs at the entrance and exit from it.

Fans of the most modern devices can, if desired, pay extra for all sorts of “smart modes”, the meaning of which is always the same - reducing the number of false alarms. The cheaper the radar detector, the more often it will bother the driver over trifles, and vice versa.

Price : 9990 rub.
