Meat blender: 2 types, 6 recommendations and 2 tips

Blenders are becoming increasingly popular in the kitchen. Small in size and originally intended for mixing cocktails, it is receiving more and more new functions, and is already fully competing with food processors.
Unlike the latter, the blender is small, compact and takes up little space in the kitchen. Very convenient to use, easy to clean. In addition, modern appliances already have most of the functions inherent in food processors. Today we’ll look at one of the possibilities and tell you how to grind meat in a blender.

Is it possible to grind it?

CONTENT

Most modern models are capable of grinding meat in a blender. Now the bulky meat grinder can be put away in the closet, replacing it with a small, convenient device.

Until recently, even grinders from well-known companies could not cope with the preparation of minced meat; they lacked power and special attachments. I had to buy powerful equipment for grinding meat, which successfully coped with the task, but had only one function.

Finally this problem is a thing of the past. Modern devices are already capable of completely replacing archaic meat grinders and combines. There are two types of fillet grinding devices:

  1. Stationary - not a collapsible bowl with knives.
  2. Submersible - a hand-held device to which various attachments are attached.

Let's look at each type in more detail.

Cooking secrets

The minced meat should not be too liquid; if water is cut off from it, then lightly squeeze the product. To achieve the desired consistency, grate boiled potatoes into it or add breadcrumbs, white bread pulp or a little flour. Most often, such manipulations have to be carried out with minced rabbit or chicken prepared in a blender.

In order to make the minced meat softer, you need to beat the egg white into it. The hardness of minced meat is most often a problem with semi-finished beef or meat from an old animal.

Once again we remind you about spices. They can make minced meat uniquely tasty and aromatic, but they can also turn it into a mass with an unpleasant odor and disgusting taste. Therefore, maintain proportions by adding seasonings in small portions.

Stationary devices

A classic stationary meat blender consists of a base stand in which there is a motor that powers the operation of the device . A bowl with knives for chopping is installed on top of the stand. The top of the bowl is covered with a lid with a hole into which you can add food as needed.

Pre-defrosted pork or beef is freed from films and cut into small pieces. The pieces are placed in the chopper bowl in small portions so that the bowl is no more than a third full.

Pre-preparation tips

  • meat must be cleaned of tendons, veins and films;
  • cut into small pieces of 2-3 cm;
  • I recommend freezing it slightly before chopping;
  • You can add onions cut into 4-6 pieces. This will make the work easier for the knives and the cutlets will taste better later;
  • do not pour in large portions. Otherwise, there may not be enough power or the device may even break.

If you make minced meat from raw meat, it is important to put it in the freezer for 15-20 minutes so that it freezes a little and grinding it is much easier. This way the fat in the meat becomes cold and hard, and the blade can easily cut through pieces of meat.

Submersible devices

It differs from the stationary one in that its motor part does not have a stand . It is usually held in the hand when working. An immersion blender for meat has a special bowl into which sickle-shaped knives made of sharp, high-quality steel are attached.

The immersion device usually does not have the function of adding products during operation. If you forgot to put something in, you will have to wait until the end of the session and remove the motor part and the cover. This is one of the main disadvantages of such a device.

In addition, submersible devices are often more expensive than their stationary counterparts. But the undoubted advantages include the fact that you can use a submersible chopper in any container, and not just in the “native” bowl.

Help: If during operation pieces of meat stick to the walls of the bowl, and the knives rotate at idle, you can add a little water to the container. This will greatly facilitate the grinding process and improve the quality of the final product.

How to make minced meat in a blender?

Homemade minced meat will be much tastier and more enjoyable than store-bought stuff.
You should remember this when starting cooking. To make the minced meat truly homemade and of the correct consistency, you must follow certain rules. In particular:

  • the meat must first be thoroughly rinsed under running water;
  • cut the product into small cubes and remove all places with veins;
  • remove the bowl with the attachment from the double-sided knife and place the meat cut into pieces into it;
  • place the lid on the bowl and turn on the electrical appliance;
  • After completing the operation, turn off the motor, remove the lid and carefully place the resulting workpiece on a plate.

Important! You need to be careful with the knife attachment. They are very sharp, so you need to install it while holding the plastic tip.

There are a lot of recipes for minced meat in a blender, it all depends on taste preferences. You can use one or more types of meat, and also add various ingredients that will further improve the taste of the dish.

Required power

Blenders with a meat grinder function for home use, presented in modern stores, have different capacities. Depending on the functions that the device must perform, its power varies from 300 to 800 W.

Low-power models are designed for whipping cocktails and making smoothies. In order for the device to cope with chopping meat, its power must be at least 600 W (the higher the power of the device, the better). Only the high power of a meat blender will allow you to get a truly high-quality product.

Abilities of the shredding miracle device

A blender is a surprisingly useful gadget, as it can significantly reduce cooking time.

It can be used for a variety of purposes:

  • chop vegetables, fruits, nuts, small pieces of meat;
  • make a cocktail or smoothie;
  • mix different ingredients;
  • prepare puree, soup, porridge for the child;
  • make ice cream or some dessert.

There are two types: stationary and submersible. It’s not easy to choose between them, but I wrote an article to help - Which blender is better - immersion or stationary?.

Preparing minced meat for baby food, cutlets or rolls now does not require any special equipment. It is quite possible to replace the meat grinder with a regular kitchen blender if you do not make minced meat very often and do not freeze kilograms of it in the freezer ahead of time. You can grind the meat raw or already cooked (boiled).

Therefore, if they ask me whether it is possible to make minced meat in a blender, I will answer that it is still possible. It will cope with chopping meat, but you will need a special attachment.

Why can you grind meat?

How to use a blender when chopping meat:

  • preparing minced meat for cutlets;
  • preparing minced fish;
  • cook meat in a blender for a child;
  • prepare meat pies and casseroles.

A stationary chopper is more suitable for preparing minced meat for casseroles. Its work allows you to grind the pieces into a soft puree. He is also great at preparing baby meat puree from boiled meat.

Help: Grinding cooked meat does not require a highly powerful device. Devices with a power of 400-500 W do an excellent job of this task.

Using an immersion device you can prepare minced meat for cutlets. Minced fish would be great. Cutlets made from this minced meat will turn out very tender and homogeneous.

Delicious cutlets recipe

All kinds of cartilage, bones and veins are removed from fresh meat. To work, you need pieces 3 cm long. The first portion of immersed meat should be processed for 15 seconds, so that it becomes clear that this time is enough so that the meat does not turn into puree.

In addition to meat, bread and onions are chopped. Milk and egg, salt and pepper to taste are added to the total mass. To obtain good minced meat, the contents must be mixed until the mass is homogeneous.

While the sunflower oil is heating in the frying pan, you need to form the cutlets. To prevent them from sticking to your hands, you can grease them with oil. The cutlets are fried on both sides until a golden crust appears.

Using a blender greatly simplifies the work of housewives, since grinding meat into minced meat occurs quickly and without much effort. The main thing is to choose the right model for your kitchen, so that in the end you can get minced meat of the required consistency.

Submersible or stationary - which is better?

A stationary blender does not grind raw vegetables, fruits and meat very well, as it is aimed at a limited number of products.

In order for a stationary device to work well and be able to grind meat, sufficiently high power and several speeds are required. The built-in meat grinder function will be a great help, but such equipment is much more expensive.

You can use an immersion blender to adjust the degree of grinding. And all this thanks to the fact that the cook himself decides how much time to spend on cooking and what mode to use,

About

Cleaning and storage

One of the most important advantages of a blender over meat grinders and food processors is the ease with which it can be washed and ease of storage . After making the meat with a blender, the bowl or leg of the machine can be easily washed with warm water using a sponge. If necessary, you can use dishwashing liquid.

Many devices are equipped with a self-cleaning function. Warm water is poured into the bowl and it works for a while and everything is ready!

Assembly, disassembly and storage are also easy. The foot bowl or stand does not take up much space and does not require special storage conditions. Any kitchen cabinet will do.

What requirements must a blender meet?

A kitchen blender is a great multifunctional assistant.

When choosing equipment for grinding meat and other solid products, you need to pay attention to the presence of certain functions and its power:

  • Some companies produce 2in1 blenders with a meat grinder function. Such devices do not have special attachments, however, its main knives do an excellent job.
  • A device with a power of 600 to 1000 can perfectly grind raw meat.
  • The equipment must have a grinding bowl. It is she who makes a meat grinder, grater, etc. out of a blender.
  • The quality of the blender blades should be top notch. Knives that are not too sharp will leave large pieces of food after work, and choppers that are not durable may break after short-term use.

Advantages and disadvantages of a blender

Using a multifunctional device as a meat grinder has a number of features. These are both advantages and significant disadvantages. The benefits of using a blender include:

  1. Reduced cooking time.
  2. Possibility of obtaining different types of minced meat.
  3. One multifunctional blender can replace all kitchen appliances.
  4. This device is easy to use.
  5. Possibility of mixing cutlet mass.
  6. Meat of any quality is processed into excellent minced meat.
  7. The ability to cut such finely ground meat that the minced meat is suitable for preparing dishes for a small child.

With so many significant advantages, the blender also has its disadvantages:

  1. Some models are not designed to grind meat, they simply chop it finely.
  2. Sometimes the device is very inconvenient to clean due to its complex design.
  3. The blender has a limited capacity, so it may not hold the required amount of product at once. You will have to reuse it, which leads to overheating.
  4. Some models, especially stationary ones, are often designed in such a way that during processing the meat gets stuck between the knives or in the corner of the container, as a result of which it is chopped unevenly.
