Which induction cookers are the most reliable and best. Rating

In this article, we tried to answer the question as accurately as possible, which induction cookers are the most reliable and best in 2021, in order to finally close this question. One of the most comprehensive articles for understanding which induction hob to buy. Answered the question of what impulse and duty cycle are. All models in the rating are without pulsation, which means that at a low power level the stove does not work in jerks, but smoothly. The first place among the inexpensive ones was taken by Electrolux IPE 6453 KF. The first place in the price/quality rating was taken by Bosch PXX675DV1E. The first place among two-burner units was taken by Siemens EH375FBB1E.

How to choose an induction surface

Induction is a special heating method implemented due to the influence of an electromagnetic field. The advantages of induction cookers are high efficiency, heating speed, and safety. These stoves run on electricity.

Size and number of burners. Compared to classic electric stoves, the operating principle of an induction cooker gives scope for design imagination. The size, shape and number of burners are completely different. So, the number varies from 2 to 8. The shape can be round, oval, square. The burners themselves can also be arranged differently. This allows you to select a hob to suit the needs of a specific user, taking into account the size of his dishes, kitchen surface and cooking volumes. But still, most buyers prefer standard forms: the most popular are round 2- and 4-burner stoves. The width of the first installation is 30 cm, the second - 60 cm.

Types of glass and surface finishes. In many reference books you can find information that two types of glass are used - ceramic and regular tempered glass. This is not entirely true. 99.9% of the plates are made from ceramic glass by two global magnates: EuroKer (lower case "k" in the corner) and Schott Ceran. Both companies come from Germany, and the only thing that sets them apart is the coating - EuroKer boards are more matte, which allows you to quickly see scratches on them. Schott Ceran slabs have a glossy surface. There are also Chinese manufacturers that make glass for companies like Candy and MPM, but it goes without saying that they have a small market share. An induction cooker can be finished in three ways: a metal frame around glass , glass with milled edges and without a cutter . The first type has two advantages - it protects the glass from breaking and gives the plate a delicate recess (when something boils over, it remains on the plate and does not immediately fly out of the device). The disadvantage of frame boards is the difficulty of cleaning the metal element. The second solution is to have aesthetic value with the simplest method of mounting the slab - on the countertop. The third option is ideal when we have the opportunity to completely integrate the hob into the countertop - the surface will be flush with the countertop or even slightly lower. Thanks to this way of fastening the slab, there is no risk of breaking the corners, and you get an extension of the tabletop without edges.

Functional. The most important thing why housewives love induction is its capabilities. Control is carried out, as a rule, by touch buttons/sliders. Advanced options may have a display showing basic cooking parameters, and even a built-in recipe book.

  • The timer will allow you to set the end time of cooking. It will turn off the stove and beep.
  • The Turbo Boost function briefly increases the power of the burner for faster heating.
  • Ability to recognize dishes. That is, the stove turns on only when there is a certain size of cookware on it. She will not “see” an accidentally thrown fork or knife.
  • Interrupting the cooking mode and remembering the last settings. It's called ReStart/Stop&Go. This will allow you to step away from the stove and return to continue cooking.
  • Locking the panel will protect against unauthorized intervention (for example, by children).
  • Monitoring electricity consumption will allow you to automatically control the heating power.
  • The “induction without borders” option will help you not to limit your cooking to the burner zone.
  • The residual temperature indication will show when the stove has cooled down to safe values.

Types of induction fields.

There are three types of fields on induction cookers . The most common is a regular round box ranging in size from 14 cm to 26 cm. Then we have rectangular fields with dimensions similar to a square, for example 22 x 19 cm. These areas are used to connect heating surfaces, for example for a Dutch oven or other large pans . The last type of field is the increasingly common type of field connected by many coils in the shape of an oval or rectangle. One field consists of two rectangular coils forming an area similar to a square. These solutions are used in expensive stoves and are designed to provide even more even heating to the cookware, as well as wherever it is placed.

Innovative features of the induction cooker:

Innovation is the feature responsible for popularizing plates made using induction technology .
They are amazingly comfortable and can be tailored to suit your needs. Knowing the features offered will make it easier for you to choose the perfect stove for your family. It is worth paying attention to the slider-type touch controls, separate for each field, which are more intuitive and useful in everyday use. The hob can be integrated with a hood - the ventilation turns on when you start cooking. You're used to automatic programs in ovens, but you can also find them in cooktops.

Advantages and disadvantages

Reviews about the panels vary, but the device has certain advantages over electric and gas stoves:

  • fast heating, which speeds up cooking;
  • easy care (to put the top coating in order, you just need to wipe it with a damp sponge);
  • food and liquid, having “escaped” from the pan, do not burn;
  • economical energy consumption.

An induction cooker also has its disadvantages. Firstly, it is more expensive in price, but not all models are expensive. Among the large assortment you can find budget options. Secondly, you will have to replace kitchen utensils. Even before installing the panel, it is important to find out which cookware is suitable. New household appliances will “cooperate” with pots and pans that are highly magnetic. You'll have to experiment with old dishes to figure out what to keep and what to throw away. In this case, the bottom must have a diameter of at least 12 cm and a thickness of more than 2 mm. The third drawback is the noise that the built-in fan makes when the device is operating.

Which family is the induction hob for?

The first step when choosing a cooktop should be to analyze your kitchen habits and lifestyle. It depends on what size panel will be optimal - when you cook a lot and often because you have a large family, then you will choose a panel with five or even six heating zones, which is definitely not needed for singles or couples. In their case, even a two-floor model with a width of 30 cm is suitable. The standard width of the hob is 60 cm, it has four heating zones. Versions of 70, 80 or even 90 centimeters are also available. There are also models with fields larger than standard ones, which makes it possible to connect fields, as well as drawers with a grill function.

PORridge ON A TRANSFORMER

The technology of heating using induction is simple and ingenious, and those who have not yet forgotten their physics lessons will probably remember the principle of operation of the transformer that is used here. Induction coils are installed under the glass-ceramic hob (one coil “serves” two burners). When current passes through the coils, an electromagnetic field is generated, which easily passes through the glass-ceramic panel.

However, at the bottom of the cookware, eddy currents - induction currents - act, causing heating. Further, heat is transferred from the heated bottom to the products. Such targeted use of heat is the most important factor in the efficiency of induction burners, which affects the maximum possible efficiency for hobs.

  • The efficiency of induction panels is 90-93%. For
  • comparison: for cast iron “pancakes” - 53-56%, for gas ones
  • burners – 49-52%.

MANDATORY BOOSTER

The Booster function (Booster, PowerBoost, Power) is the third required attribute of induction. Its essence is that for a short time (8-10 minutes) the power on the element can be significantly increased - up to 2.5-3.5 kW, for example, 2.0 kW for Ardo PI 58 F, 3.2 kW for Beko HII 64400 T, 3.3 kW for Electrolux EGD 6576 NOK. This is achieved by borrowing power from a paired burner. The function cannot be activated on both elements at the same time, and sometimes it is available on only one.

I would like to note that recently the value of increased power has increased significantly. Let's say, for a number of hobs (Electrolux EHH 6340 FOK, Zanussi ZEN 6641 XBA, AEG HK 634200 XB, Kuppersbusch EKI 6741.0 M) it is previously unimaginable - 3.7 kW, and for Thermador Freedom and Smeg SI M91B on Multizone - 4, 6 kW.

Power can be diverted not from one, but from two zones, for example, the three-burner Miele KM 6380 panel uses Twin Booster technology, it gives two stages of increasing power in one zone: from 2.6 kW it can increase to 3.0 or up to 3, 7 kW.

DISHES: SIMPLE OR COMPLEX?

The only limitation that induction imposes on the user is the set of cookware. The cookware must have a magnetizable bottom. Checking whether your favorite saucepan or kettle is suitable for induction is very simple: you need to attach a magnet to the bottom. It’s holding up - everything is in order, the vessel is suitable.

You should immediately exclude dishes made from aluminum, copper, and glass from the list. Thin-walled steel cookware is also not suitable. And dishes made of layered materials provoke not entirely pleasant sounds: crackling or whistling of the device.

Every induction hob has a pan recognition function. The point is to determine whether the cookware is suitable or not, and, in general, whether the item on the burner is a cooking utensil (a spoon or spatula, a coin may be on the panel) and whether it is worth turning on for the sake of it.

The function conveys information to the user using an indication. As you already understood from the description, it is impossible to damage the panel with improper utensils: the device simply will not work if you have installed something incorrectly.

YOU ARE MINE

Updated control units allow you to provide information about the operation of the device in a new way. Electrolux uses Infi Sight® displays. They reflect the burners in the form of circles, and the numbers on them indicate the settings. One glance is enough to assess the situation on the stove: which zone is turned on, at what power level, as well as the timer readings.

For each burner, Smeg panels with Touch Control have a circular display, in the segments of which all settings and buttons are collected.

A new phenomenon, currently available only to premium devices, is TFT touchscreen displays, classified as liquid crystal displays. For example, the Touch&Play touch screen of the LePiano DTIM 100C DeDietrich model was the first that our customers saw. The display shows the operating mode of the entire device, zone settings, and the symbols and inscriptions are unusually large and clear. On the Gaggenau CX 480, the display shows the position and shape of the cookware, as well as the selected settings.

AEG TFT hobs have MaxiSight® displays in color. The burners are marked with circles. When the burner is turned off, the circle remains small and gray, when turned on, the circle expands and lights up in a bright color. The residual heat indication is also very clear: the circle glows, but decreases as the heat dissipates.

But the Gorenje company has offered a new product of a completely different kind; its heating is controlled by highly sensitive IQ Sensors. They stand on the panel and lid of the pan and automatically regulate the operation of the burner.

How to use?

Let us briefly outline the main points of getting started with the hob:

  • The panel must be unpacked and installed. Leave it to the experts.
  • Remove protective film and remaining production and transportation contamination from the surface. Cleaning is best done with special detergents and a soft sponge.
  • Turn on the stove by pressing and holding the power button for a few seconds. The panel will notify you that it is ready for operation with a sound signal.
  • To correctly select the operating mode, it is best to read the instructions, which detail the algorithm for selecting and enabling certain functions of your device.

Expert advice

It is recommended to choose a model with additional options that will make cooking an enjoyable experience. Manufacturers are introducing the following additional features:

  • Induction without boundaries . It makes it possible to do without standard burner markings. The dishes can be placed anywhere, and the smart panel itself organizes the heating zone.
  • Pause cooking/reheating . It will be useful for a family in which everyone is used to eating in their own way.
  • Control of temperature modes and electricity consumption a. It is enough to set the temperature indicators and the energy consumption rate. In the future, they will be supported automatically, since the readings are saved in the internal memory.
  • Residual temperature indicator . With its help, the user understands whether the surface can be touched. The stove itself does not heat up, but can become hot from contact with the cookware.
  • Timer . They are set a time, which makes it possible not to control the cooking process. Advanced models can not only turn off the heating at a set time, but also notify the end of cooking with an audible signal.
  • Safety shutdown . Experts advise buying models with this function, as it is safer to use equipment with it.
  • Control panel block . Especially useful for families with small children.
