I have been using only a Dyson cordless vacuum cleaner for three years now. This is the V8 Absolute, the former flagship model.
He unconditionally replaced the old unit on the wire, with dust bags. You get used to freedom. Only occasionally did I think: if they made it a little more powerful, it would definitely be a better thing.
Well, what do you think? Dyson has heard. Done. A week ago I unboxed the 2021 Dyson Cyclone V10 Absolute, an improved version . Among the upgrades is the suction power, and now it is beyond praise.
However, there are even more innovations under the hood, all of them important.
What exactly is a cordless vacuum cleaner?
Roughly speaking, this is a vacuum cleaner with a battery. around the house with it . It's like moving a mop across the floor.
The dust collection container is bagless, that is, reusable. It is directly on the body of the vacuum cleaner and does not dangle. You can throw everything out of it in three movements without touching the contents. And continue cleaning.
To say that such a thing is convenient is to say nothing. No wires or sockets. Need to reach the top shelf? No problem. Go up to the next floor and vacuum the steps at the same time? Easily.
You can take the vacuum cleaner wherever you want, from the cottage and bathhouse to the car and boat. Well, there is no outlet and that's okay. This is how you get such autonomous cleaning with maximum mobility.
There are many similar units in stores now, but Dyson was and remains “top-end.” By updating the V8 Absolute, the company once again confirms who is king in this industry .
What's new and cool in the Dyson V10
At first glance, the Dyson V10 hasn't changed much.
Visually this is true, but inside everything is much more interesting. A lot of. If you look at their official website, you can be stuck for half an hour.
Dyson traditionally pays great attention to the technical part: this is their main feature, in addition to a decent design. It cannot be otherwise when the head of the company is, without exaggeration, a legendary engineer.
The editors rightly noted that the Dyson V8 and V10 are almost like the iPhone X and iPhone Xs . With an important exception: not only the hardware has changed, but also the design. And from a functional point of view.
You can use the Dyson V10 without a pipe by attaching the attachment directly to the vacuum cleaner. Convenient for shelves.
While the V8 looked like a container with a tube, the V10 is more like a futuristic blaster, complete with pre- and post-motor filters. The change to the body is not cosmetic, although it does look better.
There are a lot of really significant innovations here. All directly affect the cleaning process. I didn’t find any useless little frills added just for the sake of a new number on the case.
Air flow rate (and efficiency) increased through redesign
The previous model sucked air in an upward flow from the container to the filter, which affected the final power. This design was hastily copied by dozens of competitors. By the way, does the situation remind you of anything?
In the V10 Absolute, the motor and dust container were placed perpendicular to the pipe. Thus, air is drawn in in a straight line.
The result is an increase in motor efficiency by 20% at the same power. Which in itself is a lot for a cordless vacuum cleaner.

- The correct linear design resulted in a 20% increase in suction power;
- The device uses a seal around the cyclone system and a high-pressure isolator near the filter. This solution allows you to retain 99.97% of debris, the size of which is up to 0.3 microns, and make the air released by the device much cleaner.
- Low noise level due to air flow distribution around the engine. This is done by the aerodynamic casing. In addition, the system is complemented by: an acoustic screen - to reduce noise levels; post-motor filter – to muffle sounds; soundproofing components - to absorb vibrations.

Any brand of Cyclone V10 would be an ideal purchase for those who know firsthand about allergies or those who live with pets. No other manufacturer has created such a device that would filter the air so effectively and clean wool from fleecy coverings or furniture.
The motor itself has become more efficient
Actually, the idea behind the Dyson engine is to create a miniature hurricane to separate dust from the air.
An ordinary vacuum cleaner simply pulls air inside at a crazy 2200 watts (and a terrible loss of efficiency + an increase in the electricity meter). These models from Dyson only need 125 watts to achieve adequate suction power.
The air flow creates mini-vortices in the V10 Absolute filtration system. These are so-called cyclones - cones in which dust, small particles and even bacteria are separated from the air (I haven’t checked here).
A small motor with a ceramic shaft is responsible for creating vortices. It draws in air at 125,000 revolutions per minute, which produces high suction power.
The engine is generally the pride of Dyson; it is now used even in their hair dryers. And they do it themselves, trusting no one else.
All this is great, you say - but what is the result? The V10 at maximum power (there are three modes in total, not two, as in the V8) scorches so much that one pass, even on a heavily clogged surface, is more than enough .
With this model, I have repeatedly noticed that the Mid mode is enough for me to fully clean.
Apparently, the power was increased especially for those who missed hardcore a la a regular vacuum cleaner, when the nozzle almost sticks to the floor. And that's good too.
The 60 Minutes Question
Dyson lists 60 minutes as the maximum battery life on the lowest suction setting. This is a very big result, which the removable battery and small V10 engine should demonstrate. However, the figures given do not entirely correspond to reality, since the instructions contain a small footnote: without a brush and without resistance. The device we tested was actually only able to last 34 minutes with the brush connected. But this is still a good result. Except that it is very far from the expectations that advertising can give. At the highest power, the vacuum cleaner stops working after just 6 minutes.
However, during fairly long exercises with a vacuum cleaner, you will still have to make stops near the trash can. The dust collector with its volume of 0.76 liters for cordless vacuum cleaners, although quite large, is still significantly smaller in size than classic models with volumes from two to three liters.
Battery life increased by 35%
It was possible to squeeze out about 40 minutes from the V8 with a conventional attachment and about 25 minutes with a motorized one. This was enough for me to thoroughly vacuum the floor and carpet in the one-room apartment (58 sq. m.) and walk along the shelves.
The result of V10 looks much more impressive: up to 60 minutes with a conventional nozzle, about 35 minutes with a motorized one. This is already enough for two or three rubles.
The container is now easier and more hygienic to empty
The contents of the container simply fall out; there is no need to touch anything inside.
Previously, it opened down, parallel to the handle. If you throw it into a small bucket, your hand will be covered in rising dust.
The V10 doesn't have this problem. You remove the pipe or nozzle, point the vacuum cleaner into the trash can, unlatch the safety lock and pull the entire container down. The lid opens automatically and the contents spill out at a safe distance from your hands and face.
A small thing, but much more hygienic than before.
What hasn't changed with the Dyson V10?

Let me remind you that the main attachments are motorized: the torque is driven by battery power, increasing cleaning efficiency.
For this reason, you can't just grab something from the hardware store and attach it to the V10.
The blue nozzle at the top is a filter that traps dust and allergens.
The anti-allergenic filter has not disappeared anywhere and is the last one in the air route. Its task is to collect what managed to slip through the main filter, with special emphasis on allergens and small particles. So that the air is blown out clean, and does not throw back everything that you removed with such care.
Similar filters are found on all more or less decent vacuum cleaners. But the Dyson works so well that almost nothing reaches the filter. After 2 years of daily use, the filter on my V8 looks simply NEW.
In general, the filter should be washed with water once a month. This is very simple to do: twist it to the side and remove it, put it under cold water and leave it to dry.
There is still a docking station included. Allows you to stylishly mount the vacuum cleaner on the wall while simultaneously charging its battery. You can also hang a couple of attachments on it.
Starting the vacuum cleaner is simple: you press the trigger. The motor runs until you release your finger.
Well, the main thing that hasn’t changed in the V10 is how easy it is to clean. I no longer notice this process, and the absence of a wire plays a significant role here. He took the vacuum cleaner in his hand, walked around with it, and hung it in place. Light weight, perfect grip.
The only thing that, in my opinion, these Dyson vacuum cleaners currently lack is a telescopic tube. But this is already nitpicking.
Not quite an absolute
The expensive Absolute family is so called because it offers, as they say, “the complete package.” At least almost. In addition to the two main brushes, the package also includes a mini electric brush, a combination brush and an extra-soft brush for sensitive surfaces.
With this equipment you can get dust and dirt out of almost any crevice. What's missing here is a device that allows you to reach dust in corners and behind cabinets, for example.
Results. How much does it cost, where to buy
It takes about an hour and a half to fully charge.
When I reviewed the V8 last time, some readers complained: they say, everything is good, but there would be more power! Clean the garage there, the dacha. So that entire layers of dust can be washed away at once.
