The standard dimensions of built-in ovens are 60 x 60 x 60 cm. But there are other models on the market: narrow, wide, high and even two-door.

It is difficult to imagine a modern kitchen without an oven. But the variety of models is no longer pleasing, dooming us to the endless agony of choice. We'll help you figure it out.

Standard oven sizes

The external dimensions of a standard oven, both electric and gas, must correspond to the dimensions of the kitchen unit. The width of most models, like the height, is 60 cm, and their depth ranges from 54 to 58 cm.

The internal volume of the oven depends not only on external characteristics, but also on the number of functions: say, a cabinet without a microwave will have a larger volume than a model with a microwave of the same dimensions.

An example of a standard oven is the most popular electric oven in the Hausdorf online store, Asko OCS8664S: width and height - 60 cm, and depth - 55 cm. It comes with installation instructions, which indicate the dimensions of the niche for embedding, requirements for the location of the socket and ventilation.

The most popular standard gas oven Electrolux EOG92102CX has the same width and height, and the depth is 57 cm.

Recommendations for caring for electric ovens

There are few rules for caring for Bosch equipment. The manufacturer supplies the market with models with EcoClean or catalytic coating. Self-cleaning enamel requires no effort to process. After finishing cooking, simply wipe the surface with a damp cloth.

It is recommended to clean the bottom of the inner chamber, the door, and the outer surface with ordinary detergents or use special care gels from the manufacturer. The exception is hard aluminum sponges and abrasive powders - they cannot be used.

Choosing an oven will become easier if you make a list of wishes for the appliance in advance, and then mark the ones you need in the list of characteristics. A video review will make this task easier. Among Bosch models it is easy to find an option for every taste.

Large ovens

Models with a width of about 90 cm are considered large; the height and depth in such cases are standard: about 50 and 55 cm, respectively. The chamber volume is from 80 l, most often it is 110-120 l. Thanks to this, you can cook whole poultry and fish, bake desserts for the holiday in one step.

Some manufacturers, for example, Wolf, make the oven more spacious due to the height - their models are 72x75x60 cm. They also produce double appliances, the total volume of which is more than 200 liters.

Small ovens

Compact models, as a rule, are reduced due to their height - it is about 45 cm, while the width and depth remain standard: 60 and 55 cm, respectively. The volume of such devices is 45-50 liters. For example, Gorenje BCM547ORAW has the following parameters: HxWxD: 45.5x59.5x54.6 cm.

Narrow ovens are also produced. These are quite rare models, their width is 45 cm, the height and depth are standard - 60 and 55 cm, respectively. For example, Korting OKB 7931 CMX: 59.5x45x56.5 cm.

Ovens of non-standard height

Among the models whose sizes differ from the standard ones, several categories can be distinguished.

Ovens are small in height, from 30 to 45 cm. These are devices with a volume of up to 50 liters, among which are models with a microwave.

Our catalog also includes models of smaller height, convenient for embedding in a box in a small kitchen - such as De Dietrich DOP1199X with a height of 38 cm.

This category also includes free-standing cabinets, of which much less is produced than built-in ones. Among them, for example, is the small tabletop model Ilve A645LZE4 with a volume of 35 liters and a height of 45 cm.

Tall ovens from 60 cm or more

- most often large-volume semi-professional devices. Thus, Wolf ICBSO30PM/S/PH is 72 cm high and has a volume of 125 liters, and its width exceeds the standard values - it is 76 cm.

In this group, double devices with an additional oven with a total volume of about 250 liters and a height of 130 cm stand out - like the Wolf ICBDO30CM/B with 10 operating modes.

Among them there is also such a rarity as free-standing ovens - for example, the unique model Ilve 200B-MMP graphite, 90 cm high, with two chambers with a volume of 73 liters.

The basic oven volume is 65-71 liters. Quick temperature heating (1 minute) to +275-300°C. “3D hot air” function. Catalytic oven wall cleaning system. Warranty period – 1 year. Service life – 10 years.

This is an electric electric oven with a capacity of 66 liters. 8 heating modes plus convection and large grill. Maximum temperature 275 degrees. Excellent cooling system. Easy adjustment using rotary switches.

Ovens of non-standard width

Narrow cabinets are those that are less than 50 cm wide and can easily fit into a small closet. Sometimes their volume is quite large due to their greater height and depth, but there are also smaller volume devices for infrequent cooking.

The Korting OKB 7931 CMX cabinet, 45 cm wide, for example, has a volume of 45 liters: its height is 60 cm and its depth is 57 cm.

For wide cabinets, this size ranges from 61 to 120 cm: in our catalog, devices with a width of 90 cm are mainly presented. Their other dimensions can be standard - for example, the Korting OGG 5409 CSX PRO with a capacity of 110 liters and a width of 99 cm has a height of 60 cm and a depth of - 57 cm.

Are there oven sizes on the market for built-in ovens if the standard ones don't fit me?

V.S. Of course, manufacturers have provided a certain variety of dimensions, which takes into account the individual needs of users and the characteristics of kitchen furnishings. They are also standardized, although they are less common than classic ovens, the height and width of which are the usual 60 cm.

So, there are several additional standard sizes available:

Let's take a closer look at them.

Compact

The standard width is 60 cm , the height is significantly reduced - 45 cm . Compact ovens are convenient because they take up little space in height.

This is especially convenient when placed in a column, when several more units of household appliances are located above and below the oven - for example, a built-in coffee machine or microwave oven.

In this case, the large vertical parameters of the oven will not allow it to be placed at a specific height. Of course, you won’t be able to load three or four baking sheets or racks into the inner part at once - you’ll have to sacrifice something.

Narrow

Here it’s the other way around – reduced width with standard height. This solution is no longer for columns, but for kitchen appliances that are installed above the floor, under the countertop - washing machines, dishwashers and ovens.

Relevant for small kitchens. When the task is to place several pieces of equipment in a limited area, and still have room opposite for a table and two chairs, a narrow oven is what you need.

With a width of only 45 cm , it is not as convenient as with a standard one, but this is enough for many dishes. The nice thing is that some thoughtful manufacturers equip their ovens with built-in baking trays and trays.

Wide

Designed for spacious kitchens, where there is no room for cramping, and there are enough work surfaces and columns to integrate all imaginable kitchen appliances. With a standard height, the ovens are 90 cm and are the most voluminous among the entire range.

Due to low demand, they are often made to order. The enormous internal volume and loading width allow you to cook very large masterpieces in this oven. The best thing is if the owners like to bake a whole goose or pig. Well, or if a large family needed a lot of cookies.

Wide compact

The rarest, they have a width of 90 cm combined with a height of 45 cm .

One of the parameters partially compensates for the other, however, the conditions under which compact wide ovens are required can be counted on one hand.

Built-in kitchen cabinet dimensions

All devices in the Hausdorf online store are purchased together with a detailed installation diagram or installation instructions, which indicate the installation dimensions of the equipment.

If you plan to purchase equipment of standard dimensions, it can be installed in existing kitchen furniture. The cabinets of a regular kitchen set are 60 cm deep, the height of a standard countertop is from 82 to 85 cm.

The most common width is 60 cm, but there are more or less wide cabinets, and the difference is usually a multiple of 15 cm (that is, 30, 45, 60, 75, 90 cm). Cabinets and pencil cases have the same depth and width.

If you want to purchase household appliances of larger or smaller dimensions, it is better to do this in advance, and only then order a set for your existing equipment.

What should a cabinet be like for a built-in oven?

All electric ovens are produced to the same standard and have similar dimensions. Regardless of the manufacturer, they are designed for installation in a cabinet or pencil case with a width of 600 mm.

The height of the opening under the oven should also be 600 millimeters (taking into account the cabinet strip, which is shifted down relative to the upper edge of the side by 10 millimeters).

The depth of the box is designed in accordance with the dimensions of the countertop for which it is designed. A standard tabletop has a width (in our case, depth) of 600 millimeters. This means, taking into account the gaps, the depth of the box will be in the range of 450-550 millimeters.

A detailed drawing of the box for the oven with the internal dimensions of the niche for installation is usually contained in the instructions for the cabinet itself.

Using the values given above, the total height of the box is selected. The selection of this height contains “the whole point” of calculating this box.

The fact is that if the total height of the kitchen is less than a certain size, then it will be impossible to install a drawer in the opening located between the two lower horizons of the box. It will be too narrow and therefore non-functional. And this is not a rational use of the free space of the box.

Well, it won’t be possible to design a very high box either, since increasing the height of the lower modules of the kitchen unit above the norm is the cause of the inconvenience associated with its use (when the countertop is too high from the floor, it is inconvenient to work on it).

Oven niche dimensions

  • The oven should only be placed on a flat surface, and ventilation must be provided to remove heat. To do this, you need to leave gaps between the oven and the walls of the niche for the free passage of air. The size of the gap at the bottom is especially critical - it ranges from 8 to 10 cm. The side walls of the oven should be 0.5-1 cm from the walls of the niche on each side, and a gap of at least 4-5 cm should be provided at the back.
  • The inflow and outflow of air is also very important for gas ovens: all instructions for them indicate installation dimensions when placed under a countertop or in a column, including the dimensions of the gap in the lower part - at least 10 cm, and behind the back wall - at least 8 cm. 9 cm
  • The traditional placement of the oven under the hob is still popular, but increasingly the choice of location is determined only by ease of use. It is recommended to choose the installation height so that the heat from the open door does not burn your face, and the control panel is located no higher than eye level, but not lower than your waist. The gas cabinet should be placed close to the pipes, so as to provide easy access to the gas tap, and the electric cabinet should be located close to the outlet for connection without an extension cord.

Let us remind you that the specialists of the Hausdorf online store will not only help you select and buy an oven, but will also ensure its delivery and installation.

Advantages of built-in household appliances

Now kitchens designed for free-standing gas stoves can be confidently classified as economy class kitchens.

Another thing is a kitchen with a built-in hob and oven. The design of such a kitchen looks more holistic and beautiful. Due to the fact that all lower modules are covered with a single piece of tabletop, into which the hob and sink are embedded. And the oven is usually installed under the hob or placed in a kitchen cabinet.

It is worth noting that there must be a clean wall behind the cabinet in which the oven should be located (with a standard countertop depth of 600 millimeters). The fact is that the ovens have such dimensions in depth that they “fit” into the boxes designed for them - end to end.

Before inserting the electrical cabinet into the cabinet, it must be connected to the electrical supply, and then simply inserted into the opening. The cabinet itself in the niche is not secured with anything.

Modern electric ovens are currently less popular than gas ovens, although they have a number of advantages over the latter:

  • They are environmentally cleaner.
  • They are often made as microwave cabinets, in which you can quickly defrost meat or reheat food.
  • Such cabinets are more functional.
  • Electrical cabinets are very convenient to clean (the temperature inside the cabinet is raised to 300 degrees, and all food residues simply burn).
  • The price of electric cabinets is higher than that of gas cabinets.

It is also worth noting one more limitation related to electrical cabinets. This is the location of the wiring in the room where the kitchen is to be installed. In some cases, it is simply not technically possible to install an electrical built-in cabinet.
