Time Consumption Hero – Best Budget Vacuum Cleaner for Home in 2021

For most of its history, humanity preferred a broom, but with the advent of the vacuum cleaner, it became very fond of the electric device, which served as an incentive from time to time to compile a rating of inexpensive vacuum cleaners for the near future. Now, along with the old, trusted broom, every home has this upstart, which, although it swallows dust, is far ahead in the race of cleaning assistants.

Even financial crises bypass this home assistant - if there is a choice between a good vacuum cleaner and some household appliance, any housewife will choose it. Therefore, the question of what is happening now in the domestic market of small harvesting machines is, as always, vital and relevant. Here is a selection of the most popular resolutions for 2021.

The best inexpensive vacuum cleaners with a bag (up to 3,500 rubles):

Scarlett SC-VC80B01

pros

  • low price;
  • light and compact, easy to move, can be stored in a vertical position;
  • chrome telescopic tube;
  • a variety of attachments included, including a parquet brush;
  • there is a dust bin full indicator and a power regulator;
  • Special design for easy on/off with your foot.

Minuses

  • Quite a significant noise level;
  • small dust container.

Belongs to the category of vacuum cleaners with a bag. Despite its dimensions, it is productive: power – 1800 W, this is quite enough for cleaning an apartment. An important design detail: two reusable Dust-trap bags that easily capture the smallest dust particles.

If necessary, change to a paper counterpart. The vacuum cleaner features five-stage filtration. The main antistatic cleaning system protects the engine from blockages and prevents dust from returning to the room. The handle has an air flow regulator. The cord is 5 meters long and has an auto-winding mechanism.

Samsung SC5241

pros

  • low price;
  • small size, lightness and maneuverability;
  • good power, which is not hindered even by a filled bag;
  • the presence of fastenings on the body for vertical and horizontal storage;
  • there is a brush for crevices;
  • Includes both fabric and paper bags;
  • good maintainability, availability of spare parts;
  • prevalence of Samsung service centers.

Minuses

  • the brush included is rather weak for carpets with pile;
  • some attachments raise the noise level;
  • The full indicator does not always work when a paper bag is installed.

Probably the best budget vacuum cleaner for the home. There is an automatic cord rewind, and the cord itself is quite long. Very convenient to carry. In addition to high performance combined with compactness, the vacuum cleaner does not weigh much and is equipped with a handle for easy portability; it is easy to hold in your hand while cleaning. This is a good inexpensive vacuum cleaner in terms of performance. Not the most powerful vacuum cleaner; for animal lovers who have more than two pets, the amount of hair will also be too much for the device.

What to look for when choosing

Type of vacuum cleaner - traditional, manual, vertical, robotic.

  1. Traditional is the most common design, familiar to most users. The main body houses a dust collector and a motor. A collapsible telescopic pipe is attached to the suction hose. Advantages of the design: the presence of wheels, which facilitates transportation, easy assembly/disassembly, long-lasting filter bag. Cons: you need to constantly take out the bag, shake out the dust manually, which is inconvenient and unhygienic, some of the dust flies onto the person, you have to constantly wash the bag, getting rid of fine dust.
  2. Manual is an ideal technique for cleaning car interiors, narrow niches of wardrobes, and shelves. Models operate either from a built-in battery or from the mains. Pros: portable, maneuverable, equipped with small attachments. Cons: not suitable for floor cleaning, have low suction power.
  3. Vertical. They produce low-power and powerful models. Excellent for cleaning flat surfaces: linoleum, tiles, parquet. Pros: compact, suitable for a small apartment, do not take up space, can be stored in a closet, bathroom, or behind a curtain. Cons: you cannot use them to remove cobwebs, upper shelves, or clean long-pile carpets. Unstable structure, must be stored on a slope.
  4. Robot vacuum cleaner. A multifunctional gadget for performing automatic cleaning without the participation of the owners. Types from simple floor polishers for dry cleaning to complex devices that perform dry/wet cleaning on a schedule. Pros: free from routine work. Cons: high price of models that perform all processes independently. Simpler ones still require human presence. Not all units clean carpets.

Suction power

This should not be confused with power consumption; it does not affect the quality of cleaning. How do you determine if there is enough power for your needs? If all floor coverings are smooth (laminate, linoleum, carpet), there are no pets or small children, then a power of 300–350 W is sufficient. If the floors are covered with long-pile carpets, there are children and animals, consider a gadget with a suction power of 450 W.

The value indicated in the characteristics is not constant for bag and cyclone filters. As the container/bag fills, it falls. Only for aquafilters this characteristic is unchanged.

Dust container type

A special container is used to collect dust: a bag, a container, an aquafilter. The bags are easy to replace after filling; paper bags are sold for disposable use, so as not to wash or wash linen bags. In cyclonic types, due to a powerful vortex flow, a funnel is formed, like a small tornado. Particles of dust and debris are drawn into the container, pressed, and bunched into a dense lump. After finishing work, just empty out the contents and rinse the container.

The reservoir in the aquafilter is filled with water, and collected debris and dust fall into it. After cleaning, the water is simply drained into the sewer. A robot vacuum cleaner usually has a cyclone filter.

Type of cleaning

Dry or wet. The advantages of models of the traditional cleaning method are compactness and easy maintenance. If there is a power regulator, it is possible to clean different types of surfaces: curtains, pillows, carpets. The advantages of models for wet cleaning are thorough removal of dust from upholstered furniture, mattresses, general cleaning of the floor, and air humidification. Disadvantages: difficult to maintain and assemble; they require preliminary surface treatment and dust removal.

Dust container volume

Everything is clear here: the more, the less often you will need to clean and empty the container. The large volume of the container is especially important for animal owners: cleaning the container from wool takes as much time as the cleaning itself.

Vertical parking

A groove is made on the body to secure the pipe with the brush for storage in a vertical position. In the second case, stability during vertical storage is implied. This characteristic is important for traditional and manual models.

Power cord length

Almost all traditional and some manual models are powered from the mains, which means they are tied to a power source and limit mobility. The standard cord length is 3–5 meters. In small-sized apartments, length is not so important when choosing, but owners of spacious rooms need to think about comfort: perhaps abandon the classic option and pay extra for a model with a cord from 5 to 12 meters.

When purchasing a manual type of cleaner, you should pay attention to the fact that the entire load will fall on your hand. The weight is indicated as net - without additional accessories.

Equipment

One of the items that increases the price. But if the kit includes replaceable filters, brushes (especially for robot vacuum cleaners), and an assortment of replaceable attachments is provided, then it is better to consider a complete model than to buy everything separately later. I recommend paying attention to the size of the turbo brush included and taking into account the area covered by this attachment.

Battery capacity included

Indicated in mAh. Indicates how much energy the batteries store. Over time, the value decreases (remember mobile phones). In vacuum cleaners the load is greater, the capacity begins to fall faster. Replacing a battery is expensive; it costs up to 50% of the entire price of the gadget. Therefore, it is more rational to purchase inexpensive equipment: the same robot for 7 thousand with a set of necessary functions, than to pay more for a brand.

Battery life

Directly proportional to the size of the capacity. The larger the capacity, the longer the battery life. Usually this is 10-20 minutes without loss of suction power.

Battery type included

This parameter is important for autonomous vacuum cleaners - vertical, manual, robotic. Two types of batteries are used: NiMH - nickel-metal hydride or LI-ION - lithium-ion. The former are cheaper, but compared to LI-ION they last longer (they can withstand more charge/discharge cycles). But LI-ION does not have a memory effect or the ability to self-discharge.

Therefore, find out in advance the type of batteries and the type of battery in the gadget, as this affects the service life and maintenance of capacitive charge.

Handle power control

A very convenient feature for powerful instances. By moving the regulator lever, a slot opening on the pipe is opened, and the suction power drops. The nozzle moves easier on smooth surfaces, and the “suction” and sticking to thin materials stops.

Possibility of connecting an electric brush

New gadgets have it. The electric brush operates on electricity independently of the main unit, creates an air flow, and does not allow the suction power to drop even when the dust collector is full.

Type of vacuum cleaner dust collector

When deciding which vacuum cleaner to choose, first of all, you need to decide on the type of dust collector - this is one of the most basic parameters of the vacuum cleaner. Depending on the dust collector, all vacuum cleaners are divided into three groups:

  • vacuum cleaners with bags;
  • vacuum cleaners with containers;
  • vacuum cleaners with aquafilter.

Washing vacuum cleaners are included in a separate group, which will be discussed below.

Vacuum cleaners with dust bags

These are the most affordable devices, so their popularity is still very high, despite the emergence of more sophisticated designs. The principle of operation is simple : the electric motor starts the fan, which creates a rarefied atmosphere, due to which dust enters the bag through the brush and pipe. Passing through the filters, the air is purified and comes out completely clean. As the dust container fills up, the cleaning efficiency decreases.

Bags can be of two types:

  • paper;
  • fabric.

Paper bags are disposable. When such a bag is full, you can simply throw it away - quickly and easily. On the other hand, you will have to buy paper bags from time to time, and this is an additional waste.

Fabric bags can be shaken out and used again and again. This makes the cleaning process cheaper, but when you empty the bag you will have to breathe in dust, which is not very pleasant, and is generally contraindicated for allergy sufferers.

Vacuum cleaners with containers

Many people prefer to choose vacuum cleaners without a dust bag , because their suction efficiency does not decrease when the dust collector is filled . Such devices use a cyclone-type system , which was once developed by John Dyson. In simple words the operating principle is as follows : the drawn air enters a cone-shaped tank, where it moves in a spiral, and the dust is pressed against the walls of the container and freely falls down. double cyclone principle are increasingly on sale , which are equipped with an additional external cyclone, where the air is cleaned of larger dust particles, and then enters the main cyclone. You can also find models that use more than two cyclones.

The main disadvantage of such a system is that when shaking out the container, contact with dust is inevitable. Previously, such vacuum cleaners were not distinguished by the most effective air filtration, but today, thanks to HEPA filters, air purification reaches 99.99%. When using a vacuum cleaner like this, it is very important to prevent the cyclone from breaking, which can happen when a carpet, rug or other object gets stuck to the brush. The main advantage is the same high performance regardless of how full the container is. to say unequivocally which vacuum cleaner is better to choose, with a bag or a container , but the latter are in higher demand today.

Vacuum cleaners with aqua filter

Vacuum cleaners with an aquafilter provide a high degree of dust removal and additional air humidification . Dirty air passes through the filter with water and is immediately mixed with it due to the high pressure of the air supply. Water absorbs dust particles, the smallest dust particles are retained by additional filters, and at the output we get clean and humidified air.

Such vacuum cleaners are ideal for allergy sufferers , and you won’t have to breathe dust when emptying the container - you just need to pour the contaminated water down the drain, and this is not difficult. The cleaning efficiency of such a vacuum cleaner is the highest . True, you will have to empty the container after each cleaning , which can be attributed to the disadvantages, because in all other types of vacuum cleaners the container is shaken out (or changed) as it is filled. Another disadvantage of vacuum cleaners with an aqua filter is their higher weight and larger dimensions compared to models with other types of dust collectors.

Robots (up to 8,000 rubles)

Polaris PVCR 1012U

pros

  • autonomy;
  • battery life for more than an hour;
  • looks stylish.

Minuses

  • noisy;
  • hair and wool are wound around the brushes;
  • Not the most capacious dust collector.

BBK BV3522

pros

  • independence;
  • wet cleaning;
  • the furniture does not hit, moves carefully;
  • there is a docking station;
  • smart home system

Minuses

  • Sometimes the battery discharges in standby mode;
  • Charges the battery for 4-5 hours, beeps loudly when finished.

This robotic wet vacuum cleaner is easy to use. There is a remote control. It even cleans corners and baseboards well. Availability of different modes. Having discharged, he returns to base. The collision sensors work well. Able to overcome small rapids and other elevations.

Clever & Clean 004 M-Series

pros

  • turns on according to schedule;
  • small, gets to all hard-to-reach places in the apartment;
  • design and excellent build quality at a high level;
  • Includes a special cloth for wet cleaning.

Minuses

  • decent charging time, lasts about 40 minutes;
  • overcomes obstacles with difficulty;
  • There is no function for training or building a room map.

The robot can be configured to turn on twice a day, but this must happen in the morning and evening so that the battery has time to recharge. Before cleaning, it is advisable to remove foreign objects from the floor: slippers, toys.

Vacuum cleaner design type

All vacuum cleaners according to the type of design are divided into the following main types:

  • balloon;
  • vertical;
  • mop-type vacuum cleaners;
  • vacuum cleaners, which represent a separate group of devices.

Each of these vacuum cleaner options has its own advantages and disadvantages, which make the model more preferable for use in specific conditions. So which vacuum cleaner is better to choose? Let's look at the characteristics of each option.

What to take with a budget of up to 10,000 rubles

Samsung VC15K4130HB

pros

  • can often be found on sale;
  • ease of use;
  • small sizes;
  • regulator on the handle;
  • high reliability, power does not decrease after several years of operation.

Minuses

  • the hose is harsh;
  • inconvenient to clean.

The vacuum cleaner has a low noise level. It is very easy to remove dust from the container and easy to clean. The manufacturer has developed an exclusive technology that reduces tangling and adhesion of wool and hair to the surfaces of the dust collector. The turbine and main brush are made using this technology. Air filtration is a nice bonus.

Samsung SC8836

pros

  • assembly and quality of materials;
  • high suction power;
  • sealed container - a large transparent flask for collecting dust;
  • the air coming out of the vacuum cleaner is filtered;
  • durability and reliability.

Minuses

  • After some time, the rollers on the brush become clogged with hair, but it’s easy enough to get them out.

Attractive and interesting design. The unit looks modern, high-tech. The tubes and hose connect tightly and effortlessly. The length of the tube is sufficient, especially in the extended position. The wheels are large, the body has a power regulator and a cord winding button.

KARCHER VC 3

  • favorable price/quality ratio;
  • reliability.

Minuses

  • the main brush is somewhat bulky and clumsy;
  • there is no turbo brush for carpets;
  • The hose is tight at the junction with the body.

The high efficiency of the HEPA filter allows you to clean without raising dust. The cord is assembled at the touch of a button. The suction power is more than sufficient, but there is a valve on the pipe that can be lifted. Despite the power, very economical energy consumption.

Kitfort KT-527

pros

  • no wires;
  • minimum space for vertical storage;
  • long operating time;
  • there is a mount for brushes on the body;
  • There are rubber pads that absorb collisions during cleaning.

Minuses

  • small dust compartment;
  • The charger is stored separately.

Like all vertical vacuum cleaners, it is good for cleaning furniture. You can also vacuum the interior of your car with it. There is a backlight on the brush, this allows you to notice unfinished surfaces in time. Charging time is only 4 hours. The vacuum cleaner is loud, but noticeably quieter than its wired counterparts.

Vacuum cleaner filters

The second important factor that needs to be taken into account before buying a vacuum cleaner for your home is the type and number of filters , because it is this parameter that determines what kind of air will come out of the vacuum cleaner, and therefore how healthy the microclimate in the apartment will be.

Manufacturers may claim that their vacuum cleaner uses an air purification system that includes 7 or even 10-12 filters, but all this is nothing more than a marketing ploy , because three levels of purification , which are found in all models, are of key importance:

  • the first is a bag, container or aquafilter . At this stage, the bulk of the dust is retained, but the smallest particles pass further, so additional air purification is necessary at subsequent stages;
  • the second is the engine compartment filter, which protects the engine from dust and cleans the air from small dust particles. Often the filter is made of foam rubber or other material with a similar structure, which can allow air to pass through, but traps fine particles;

  • the third stage is fine output filters , whose task is to completely clean the air before leaving the vacuum cleaner.

Fine filters play a special role , so when choosing a vacuum cleaner you should pay maximum attention to them.

Fine filters are most often represented by one of the following options:

  • microfilters of electrostatic type;
  • HEPA filters;
  • S-filters.

Let's look at each of them in more detail.

Electrostatic microfilters are the cheapest option, which is still used in budget vacuum cleaner models. Such filters are made on a foam rubber, cellulose or pressed microfiber base. They trap dirt particles while allowing air to pass freely. The degree of purification is quite decent, but still inferior to more modern HEPA and S-filters. In addition, such filters will need to be changed or washed from time to time.

HEPA filters today are used in the vast majority of vacuum cleaners , and improved options with an increasingly higher degree of purification are constantly appearing. This filter resembles an accordion, is made of fiber material, the holes in it are from 0.3 to 0.65 microns in diameter, so they can trap even the smallest dust particles.

The HEPA filter can be disposable and made of paper or fiberglass. In this case, you will sometimes have to replace used filters with new ones, and the manufacturer indicates the frequency of such replacements for each model and different operating conditions. Permanent filters are made of fluoroplastic and require only periodic washing. If you comply with this requirement, the filter can be used for as long as a vacuum cleaner.

The efficiency of the HEPA filter is determined by the European standard EN 1822 . In the description of a specific vacuum cleaner model, you can see designations of this kind: HEPA H 10 or HEPA H 11 , HEPA H 12, etc. A number from 10 to 16 indicates the degree of air purification , and the higher it is, the better. Thus, HEPA H 10 filters retain up to 85% of dust particles HEPA H filters – already 99.95% . If you don’t know which vacuum cleaner to choose for a home where an allergy sufferer lives, then it is better to opt for HEPA H 13 filters, which trap both plant pollen and tobacco smoke. By the way, you can already find HEPA H 14 on sale with a purification degree of 99.995% and even more efficient filters.

S -filters also provide a high degree of purification - 99.97%. Can be replaceable or reusable. They will have to be replaced or cleaned once a year.

Once again, it is worth noting that the three degrees of filtration described are basic and provide excellent air purification. In order to increase sales, manufacturers offer vacuum cleaners with dozens of cleaning levels: you will spend more money on the purchase, but the air coming out will be the same.

Vacuum cleaner power

All those who are wondering how to choose a vacuum cleaner for an apartment are always interested in the power of the device. It is worth paying attention not only to power consumption, but also to suction power, and the second parameter is more important, since it directly indicates how effective a particular model is in cleaning.

It’s worth noting right away that the suction power of a vacuum cleaner is not a constant parameter , and it depends on the degree of filling of the dust collector (for vacuum cleaners with bags), on the position of the hose and the main nozzle of some other factors. Moreover, there is still no universal standard for measuring the suction power of a vacuum cleaner, so manufacturers, as a rule, indicate its maximum value.

Suction power is indicated in watts (W), but increasingly you can find another unit of measurement - aerowatts (aW) , which is actually identical to watts. There is no direct relationship between power consumption and suction power, i.e. A vacuum cleaner with a higher power consumption may not necessarily be more effective at cleaning. You need to choose the model that, with the required suction power, has less power consumption. In the description of vacuum cleaners, power consumption and suction power are indicated as a fraction - 1500/500, for example. Among the two vacuum cleaners 1700/400 and 1500/450, the second one will be more effective, and it is worth choosing.

Now the question is different - what power consumption will be enough to clean the room? It all depends on the features of the home interior. Here are the data you can rely on when choosing the required suction power:

  • 350 aW – power suitable for cleaning smooth surfaces, incl. linoleum, laminate, parquet, tiles, etc.;
  • 400-450 aW – power sufficient for cleaning long-pile carpets;
  • 550 aW is enough for wet cleaning;
  • 650 aW is enough for deep cleaning of upholstered furniture;
  • vacuum cleaners with a power of 800 aW or more are used for professional cleaning.

From all this it follows that for most people a vacuum cleaner with a suction power of 300-400 aW is suitable; it will be enough to work with a turbo brush. This is one of the additional attachments, which will be discussed later.

Vacuum cleaner noise level

Too much noise when vacuuming can cause headaches, so users try to choose a device that is as quiet as possible. In 2002, all major vacuum cleaner manufacturers signed a convention according to which the noise level when vacuuming at maximum power should not exceed 80 dB.

The quietest vacuum cleaners are those that use a bag . Their maximum noise level is 60-65 dB . Cyclone-type vacuum cleaners produce noise at a level of 70-80 dB.
