Why does the le error appear on a Samsung washing machine and how to fix it?

The Samsung automatic washing machine has established itself as a reliable assistant in household chores, however, in some situations, household appliances may malfunction, displaying the error message “le” on the display.

This code indicates that there is a problem that needs to be sorted out. You can fix the cause of the problem either yourself or by calling a specialist.

What is it and what does it mean?

The Samsung washing machine is equipped with a microcomputer that controls all stages of washing. When unexpected processes occur, a certain symbol begins to flash on the screen.

Code le means that the problem is related to the low water level in the drum during the automated washing process.

This could be either a leak or self-draining. The sensor is triggered if, within a few minutes, it detects a decrease in the water level in the tank of the machine four times in a row.

Often, simultaneously with the display blinking, a puddle of water is detected on the floor next to the machine. The time at which the defect occurs may vary.

It often occurs:

  • a few seconds after starting the wash;
  • almost immediately after filling the tank with water;
  • during the washing or rinsing process.

The problem associated with water leakage can be indicated on the display not only in the form of the designation le, but also other codes: e9, lc, le1.
Differences in error encryption are associated with the design features of Samsung machines and the year of their manufacture. Thus, washing units manufactured before 2007 are programmed with the designation e9. More modern models have the letter code le.

If the washing machine is not equipped with a display, then this error can also be easily identified . If water is drained unplanned by the program, the unit signals by flashing indicators.

If an error occurs, two icons glow steadily red: “Bio 60°C” and “cold water”. All washing mode indicators flash at the same time.

Error interpretation

Codes LE, LC, E9, LE1 mean the same thing: there is a leak or self-draining of water from the tank in the Samsung washing machine. If the level sensor (pressure switch) detects a drop in the water level in the machine drum 4 times in a row within a few minutes, then the error LE, E9, etc. will light up.

Note! Error code E9 is typical for early models of Samsung machines released before 2007.

In Samsung washing machines equipped with aquastop, a leak sensor (float), which is located in the tray under the washing machine, also reacts to leakage. If water appears in the tray, the float floats up, the washing machine stops washing and displays this error code on the screen.

The appearance of the LE error can be caused by both serious malfunctions, the elimination of which requires professional knowledge and experience, and trivial problems that can be corrected on your own.

Why does Samsung give out a code when washing?

Water may leak from the drum for various reasons. Before you begin to solve the problem, you need to establish exactly why it arose.

The le error may be based on several objective reasons:

  1. Incorrect connection of the drain hose to the machine or sewer pipe.

  2. A crack in the drain tube or a broken hose mounting clamp.
  3. Damage to the seal, which allows emergency water leakage.
  4. Poor fixation of the drain filter after the last cleaning.
  5. Blockage of the washing powder dispenser compartments in the tray.
  6. The appearance of defects in the drum or the body of the washing tank itself.
  7. Failure of the pressure switch (sensor that monitors the liquid level).
  8. Broken contacts and connections of the water sensor.
  9. Abrasion or cracks appear in the sealing collar on the door.
  10. Malfunction of the electronic control unit of the washing machine.
  11. Leaks in the water supply (or sewer) pipe leading to or from the machine.

Some of these reasons are not global and can be easily eliminated. These include, for example, incorrect installation of the drain hose.

The list of reasons also includes more serious items that require the intervention of a specialist and financial costs to correct the defect. The further fate of failed household appliances in any case depends on competent diagnostics.

Causes of error le

  • Check for leaks

When the water level drops below the reset level, this fault code is displayed.

The first thing you need to look for is leakage. Do you see water on the surface around the washer? Look behind the machine, to the sides, under it, if possible. If you see water, there is most likely a leak inside the washing machine.

A few places that are most vulnerable from this angle are the hose from the pump to the drum, as well as the drain hose.

The rubber boot that connects to the bottom of the tank and the drain pump often leaks. It will collect small things gradually as it fills, and eventually, if something sharp gets stuck, it will punch a hole in the rubber layer.

The drain hose may also leak. If one of the drain hose mounting clamps is broken, the hose may become damaged and leak water outward.

This option is more common on other models of washing machines, but is still possible with Samsung.

  • Check the drain hose

This is also a very common problem that causes the LE error code to appear on these washing machines.

This problem most often occurs immediately after installation if the technology has been broken. The drain hose can become a water leak if it is placed far down the riser.

This usually happens when non-professionals install the machine with the drain hose as far down the riser as possible.

Test the drain hose by pulling on it, then listen to see if you can hear water coming out of it. This usually always means that the drain hose is far down the riser. Most manufacturers recommend putting the hose in an 8-12" tube. The washing machine is usually equipped with a small plastic loop, with which you can attach the drain hose at the desired height. A small plastic loop prevents the hose from falling down and causing this problem.

  • Cracks in the drum or housing

Samsung front load washing machines have a plastic outer shell and a metal drum inside.

The outer plastic panel may crack causing this problem. Check around the tank for leaks. This is not a common problem, but it is possible.

Double check all hoses and connections around the drum. If one of the hoses is damaged, it is possible that an LE error code may be displayed.

What to do?

Further actions to eliminate the le error depend on the identified cause. You can eliminate many of them yourself, without turning to a specialist.

Each cause has its own solution:

  1. If the drain hose is the culprit, adjust its connections. The entry point of the hose into the sewer pipe should be above the machine tank. If necessary, the joint is sealed with a new rubber gasket.

  2. Correct the position of the drain hose. He must make an upper loop between the connections to the machine and the sewer (at least 70 cm from the floor).
  3. If the cause is the drain filter, then it must be tightened more tightly to stop water flowing through it.
  4. If water spills out of the dispenser tray, rinse it thoroughly. The outlet channels of all tray compartments clogged with petrified powder must be cleaned.
  5. If there is a leak at the connections of the pipes that go from the tray to the tank or from the tank to the pump, they are tightened more tightly. You can do this procedure yourself only if you have the skill to work with equipment.
  6. If the culprit of the error is the water level sensor, then it is necessary to correct its connections and contacts. This manipulation is also only available if you have experience working with electronics and electrical equipment.

If there is no visible leakage and the error does not disappear, then you should try turning off the device completely. A reboot helps resolve the failure in the control module.

Error LE, E – in what cases can you fix it yourself?

  • Check the drain hose; perhaps you forgot to put its end into the bathtub or toilet, if your drain is arranged that way. Or the connection between the hose and the sewer is leaking.
  • If the Samsung washing machine fills and immediately drains water during the first wash after installation, and then the code LE or E9 is displayed, then the possible reason is self-draining. Check the connection of the drain hose to the sewer. If the connection point is below the level of the tank, and the hose does not make an upper loop before “entering” the sewer, then the water flows out of the washing machine by gravity. Connect the machine drain correctly or use a washing machine installation service by a professional technician.
  • It is possible that you cleaned the drain filter after the last wash. Check that it is tightly screwed and does not leak water.
  • If your Samsung machine is leaking water from the detergent tray and an LE, E9 or LE1 error occurs, check the dispenser compartments for blockages. If you rarely rinse the tray, the powder or rinse aid may have clogged the corresponding compartments in the tray, and the water simply has nowhere to go but spill out of the hopper onto the floor.
  • The occurrence of this error after foam appears from the detergent dispenser can indicate two things. Firstly, about possible problems with the powder. If it is of poor quality, is not intended for use in automatic machines, or you added a “horse” dose, then foam from the detergent tray is a completely normal reaction of the washing machine. Fix the powder problem and the LE error will not reoccur. Secondly, if you wash porous or fluffy items, then reduce the portion of powder by 2 times. Porosity contributes to increased foaming, which manifests itself in the form of foam appearing with water from the dispenser and errors on the washing machine screen.
  • Check the connections of the pipes inside the washing machine: from the tray to the washing machine tank and from the tank to the pump. It is possible that the clamps have become loose and the connections are leaking.
  • If the error appears for the first time, try unplugging the machine from the power supply for 5 - 10 minutes, and then plug it back into the outlet. It is possible that there was a failure in the control module - the “brains” of the washing machine, and a reboot will help.
  • Check to see if there is anything else leaking, such as a sewer or water pipe. Which leads to the appearance of water in the pan of the Samsung washing machine, the activation of the aquastop and the occurrence of the LE error.
  • Check all the contacts and connections of the wires going to the pressure switch and the leakage sensor in the pan (if your Samsung machine has an aquastop). Perhaps they have moved away. Then they need to be corrected.

If the above tips did not help resolve error E9, LE or LE1, then this means there is a breakdown and your washing machine requires professional repair.

Call the master

When independent attempts to resolve the le error do not lead to success, you need to seek help from a washing machine repair specialist. He will conduct a full diagnosis and offer the most optimal solution to the problem.

You can find a professional in workshops specializing in household appliances . Such offices are available in all major localities. You can also order a call from a specialist through online advertisements or advertising posters.

It is best to seek help from officially operating workshops. They not only have all the necessary permits for work, but also issue a warranty card. When calling a specialist through a private advertisement, there is a risk of becoming a victim of fraud.

The total cost of repairing a Samsung machine due to an error le depends on many factors . First of all, this includes the volume and complexity of the work, as well as the cost of components:

  • replacing a damaged drain hose on a washing machine costs an average of 1,400 rubles;

  • adjusting the sensor connection by replacing a frayed cable or twisting wires - from 1800 rubles;
  • removing a faulty one and installing a new water sensor or replacing a microcircuit – from 2,400 rubles;
  • repair or replacement of the rubber door seal on a machine - from 1900 rubles.

Procedure for detecting a failure

An error may appear on the indicator both at the beginning of the wash and during the rinsing or spinning process. To troubleshoot the problem in time and bring your washing machine back to life, follow the following steps.

  1. Disconnect the machine from the power supply by unplugging the cord from the outlet. Press the off button on the washing machine.
  2. Carefully inspect the drain hose - there should be no cracks or breaks on it. Check its position, integrity and connection to the sewer thoroughly.
  3. If the position of the drain hose is incorrect, connect one end to the bottom of the machine, and point the other upward, attaching it to a special hook. The connection of the hose to the drain pipe must have a good seal and be located at a distance from the floor of at least 70 cm.
  4. Consider the drain filter device. To open the lid, turn it counterclockwise; to close it, you need to move the lid clockwise. If the cap is firmly attached and covers the drain hole, then the problem is not with the filter.
  5. When a fault cannot be identified with the naked eye, it is better to contact service. It is likely that the failure is internal to the machine. For example, a tubular electric heater (TEH) broke, a crack appeared in the tank, or another part failed. Qualified specialists will examine the cause of the error and, if necessary, replace the failed part.

If this is the first time the error code has appeared, unplug the machine for a few minutes. Perhaps the reason lies in the failure of the control module, and to resume proper functioning you simply need to reboot the equipment.

How to prevent the problem from occurring?

To protect your washing machine from error le, it is enough to follow the rules for servicing household appliances and promptly notice any problems that arise.

This is necessary already at the stage of installing a new device in the house. Such measures include proper connection and installation of the drain hose, control check of water and sewer pipes.

During operation, it is important to monitor the condition of all rubber seals, drain hose, detergent tray, drain filter and other parts responsible for the occurrence of error le.

It is also important to observe the dosage of detergent . Excess powder, as well as the use of a product not intended for automated washing, can lead to increased foaming and problems with the operation of the unit.

Adviсe

Despite the fact that the Samsung washing machine performs work in an automated mode, after starting the program it must be periodically monitored.

Since the problem coded by the le code is related to the release of water from the tank, unauthorized drainage is often the cause of flooding.

If automatic water filling and draining is repeated several times, the volume of liquid around the machine increases. You can only stop this process manually by pressing the corresponding button or unplugging the power cord.

The second recommendation concerns the quality of connecting nodes and contacts. After cleaning the filter and other elements, it is important to tighten the parts tightly. When reinstalling the drain hose, you should check the degree of sealing of the entrance to the sewer pipe.

If the reasons for the error le are related to the internal structure of the machine (sensor, tank, contacts, control unit), and the level of competence does not allow you to figure it out on your own, then you should not take on the job. It is better to entrust this important task to a master.

What other errors could there be?

Not only the LE code tells us about violations associated with self-draining of water. It happens that dirty water does not drain from the tank at all. Then code 5E lights up on the display. This, in turn, is associated with a clogged drain hose or filter, or with a malfunction of the drain pump. It is quite possible to repair the drain pump yourself.

Error 5d also refers to water leaking out, but this time along with soap suds. The reason for increased foam formation may be the wrong choice of washing powder (for example, intended only for hand washing) or exceeding its volume by one cycle. There is no need to deal with this problem: after some time, the foam will settle on its own and be removed, and the washing process will start again. But for the future, remember that only specialized products with appropriate markings are recommended for automatic machines.

Never use hand washing powders: they will not only ruin your clothes, but can also cause damage inside the machine itself, which is much more serious.
