What temperature should be in a two-chamber refrigerator Atlant

Optimum temperature in a two-chamber Atlant refrigerator for storing food

The refrigerator compartment does not maintain the same mode. The warmest zone is the top shelf. Various cooked foods should be placed on it, such as soups, cereals, fried potatoes, pasta, etc.

The coldest zone is the bottom shelf above the fruit and vegetable trays. The manufacturer recommends placing raw meat and fish there, as well as minced meat and chicken. The shelf life of refrigerated products is no more than two days.

The temperature in the Atlant refrigerator must be set independently when turned on for the first time. On the bottom shelf it should be approximately 0 to +2 °C. If the temperature is above this limit, the meat or fish may spoil.

Maintaining a certain norm is difficult. Its increase depends on several factors:

  • frequent door opening;
  • device location;
  • number of downloaded products;
  • configured mode.

It should be taken into account that the air in the compartment cools faster than the products themselves.

Optimal indicators for products:

  • Meat is perfectly stored at temperatures from +1 to +3 degrees. This way it doesn't freeze and doesn't spoil so quickly. If you make the temperature higher, it will disappear faster, and if it is lower, it will freeze and become less juicy after defrosting.
  • Sausage and sausage products prefer a temperature range from +2 to +5 degrees.
  • It is best to store ready-made culinary dishes at a temperature of +2 to +4 degrees. Soups or other dishes on water should be stored at +4 - +5 degrees. At lower temperatures they may freeze.
  • Vegetables prefer higher temperatures, from +4 to +6 degrees. It is better to store boiled vegetables at a temperature of +3 - +5 so that they do not lose their nutritional value.
  • In order to preserve dairy products such as kefir, cottage cheese, sour cream, milk and butter, you should set the temperature in the refrigerator from +1 to +5 degrees.
  • Eggs are also stored in the same temperature range, with the exception of quail eggs - from 0 to +3 degrees.
  • Seafood and fish. Fresh fish likes temperatures from 0 to +2 degrees, cooked to +4. Fresh seafood - from +4 to +6, cooked - up to +6.
  • Fruits. Exotic fruits should not be kept in the refrigerator because they love warmth. The rest of the fruits are stored in temperature conditions from +4 to +8 degrees.
  • Ideal conditions for storing cheeses are from +3 to +5 degrees, depending on the type, fat content and hardness.
  • Bread and confectionery products. It is better to keep them in the refrigerator at a temperature of +3 to +5 degrees. When the frame is lowered, the bread will become stale; when raised, it will become moldy. Products with condensed milk, creams, cream or cottage cheese can be stored for a long time from -1 to +3 degrees.
  • Mayonnaise, ketchup, mustard can be stored from 0 to +6 degrees in closed packaging, and after opening - from +1 to +4 degrees.

What temperature should be in the freshness zone in a two-chamber Atlant refrigerator

This compartment cannot be found in every refrigerator, but nevertheless, manufacturers are placing it in their models more and more often. The peculiarity of this department is that the temperature here ranges from 0 to 1 degree. This allows you to stop the proliferation of microorganisms, while the products do not freeze and retain their beneficial properties, taste, smell and color. This chamber is great for storing products such as:

  • fresh meat
  • fish (red and black caviar are an exception)
  • sausages
  • semi-finished meat products
  • milk products
  • cheeses
  • vegetables
  • greenery
  • fruits

All products must be in sealed packaging.

On the next shelf from the zero zone, the temperature ranges from +2 to +4 degrees Celsius. Semi-finished products, meat, sausages, fish, milk, confectionery, and eggs are stored here for a long time. On the refrigerator door opposite this shelf there are compartments for eggs.

In the middle of the refrigerator compartment the temperature is maintained from +3 to +6 degrees Celsius. These are optimal conditions for storing soups, vegetables, sauces, bread and other products.

At the bottom of the refrigerator there are drawers or shelves for vegetables and fruits, root vegetables. The temperature here should be around 8 degrees Celsius. This is the maximum temperature setting for the refrigerator compartment.

What temperature should be on the middle shelves in a two-chamber Atlant refrigerator

What are the indicators at this level? Maximum: +6 degrees, minimum: +3. You can supply ready-made dishes: borscht, porridge, sauces.

What temperature should be in containers for vegetables and fruits in a two-chamber refrigerator Atlant

They are at the very bottom, so the readings there are +8 degrees.

What temperature should be on the shelves on the door in a two-chamber Atlant refrigerator

This place is the warmest: +5-10°C. When the door is opened, a constant transition from a cold to a warm environment is created. Therefore, it is not recommended to place eggs and dairy products on the door. It is better to put sauces, oils, seasonings.

Signs of an incorrect temperature setting

As it turned out, in almost all cases the operating temperature of the refrigerator is within +2-5 degrees. If the t mode is adjusted incorrectly, the following symptoms may appear:

  • rapid spoilage of food supplies;
  • partial freezing and loss of taste properties of ready-made dishes;
  • the condition of food removed from the refrigeration unit is warm to the touch;
  • accumulation of condensation is visible on the inner shell of the refrigerator;
  • melting ice in the freezer compartment.

If one of the above symptoms is detected, you need to check that the temperature values are set correctly. If they are set incorrectly, they should be adjusted according to the instructions related to this model of refrigeration equipment.

Cold distribution in a two-chamber Atlant refrigerator

It must be remembered that the temperature in different places of the refrigerator may differ.

With the overall temperature set to +4 degrees, it will look like this:

  • As a rule, the coldest place is near the wall at the top of the chamber (if you have a freezer on top). There will be from +2 to +3. Meat, fish and semi-finished products from them, as well as other perishable products should be stored here;
  • on the middle shelves it will be in the region from +3 to +5 degrees. It is recommended to store milk, cold cuts, sausages, cheeses, some fruits, bread, etc. here;
  • at the same time, the warmest place in the refrigerator is the shelves on the door. Depending on the frequency of opening the refrigerator, the temperature in this place can fluctuate from +5 to +10 degrees. It is best to store ketchup, mustard, sauces, and drinks in the door.
  • in the “freshness zone” the temperature averages from +5 to +8 degrees and has, one might say, its own microclimate. This creates better conditions for storing herbs, fruits and vegetables.

If the refrigerator compartment has not been opened for a long time, the temperature inside it is equalized as much as possible.

Digital designation on the regulator

On the electronic display, 1 press of the button corresponds to an increase or decrease in temperature by 1 degree. You can only set the number of degrees specified by the manufacturers. For example, even without knowing the correct temperature for food, you will not be able to set it to +10ºС; the factory settings of the refrigerator allow you to set it from +2 to +8ºС. The current temperature in the refrigerator is indicated on the display.

With the mechanical type of regulation, there are also digital symbols around the disk, but they indicate not the number of degrees, but the mode. The higher the number, the stronger the refrigerator motor works.

But it is not worth setting the regulator to the maximum position, because running the motor at full power will create too much cold in the chamber and electricity consumption will increase. In addition, there will be more wear on the engine, which is why the refrigerator may not last as long as it should.

What temperature should be in the freezer of a two-chamber Atlant refrigerator

As for the freezer, here you need to proceed from how intensively (densely) it is packed.

If your freezer usually doesn’t have a lot of food and you don’t use it too often, then you shouldn’t set the temperature above -14 degrees.

In the case when the freezer is used frequently, more than half is loaded, and the majority of the products are meat, then it would not be a bad idea to reduce the temperature to -20 -24 degrees.

The optimal temperature that should be in the freezer is -18 degrees.

The “Quick Freeze” or “Super Freeze” option is used to quickly freeze fresh food. As a rule, this occurs at -24 -30 degrees for several hours.

It is believed that this process makes it possible to better preserve the taste of vegetables, berries, and herbs.

What value is considered correct?

Here it should first of all be mentioned that the temperature regime that will be considered correct depends on the model of the device, as well as the environment.

The average values are considered to be +2 ... +4 ℃ for the main chamber and -18 ... -24 ℃ for the freezer.

If the room is hot, then when the door is opened, a large loss of heat occurs, which means that to restore the cold, the unit will require more time and resources. In this case, it makes more sense to set lower values.

In addition, the operating temperature also depends on the workload: the more crowded the shelves of the device, the colder it should be. The same rule applies to freezers.

Temperature functions in the Atlant two-chamber refrigerator

Fierce competition is forcing manufacturers of household appliances to come up with more and more new ways to attract buyer attention.

They are no longer limited to marketing moves, but are introducing interesting technological innovations into the operation of refrigeration and freezer compartments. As a result, consumers get interesting opportunities.

The “Super Cooling” option allows you to lower the temperature in all zones of the refrigerator compartment to a minimum of 1 ºС…2 ºС for a short period of time. You can quickly cool food from several bags at once.

The “Super Freeze” mode is relevant for the freezer compartment. Temperatures drop to -24°C. You can freeze a chamber overflowing with food in a few tens of minutes.

Be sure to set your equipment to normal operation to avoid wasting energy and keep supplies at the optimal temperature.

How many degrees should the freezer be?

Not all users clearly understand what air temperature should be in the freezer. At first glance, the answer is obvious: the colder it is in the freezer, the longer the shelf life of the food. However, operating the unit at maximum power mode leads to increased energy consumption. The load on the compressor increases, which shortens the life of the domestic refrigeration unit.

The temperature of the refrigerator freezer is selected depending on the types of products in it and the required storage time for supplies. Modern manufacturers of household electrical appliances recommend operating temperatures in the range of -12…-24°C. In accordance with accepted standards, settings are made in steps of 6, i.e. -6°C, -12°C, etc.

The optimal temperature for the freezer in normal mode is -18°C. Such parameters ensure good freezing of food supplies without putting additional load on the compressor. If the load is minimal and the products are well frozen, the temperature inside the chamber can be increased to -12°C in order to increase the energy efficiency of the equipment.

The maximum operating mode (minus 24°C) is used for quick freezing of food supplies. In addition, it must be set when loading new products into the freezer. They have a higher temperature and will raise the average inside the chamber. To prevent this from happening, the quick freeze function is activated for 2-3 hours, after which the refrigerator switches to standard mode.

How to check the temperature in a two-chamber Atlant refrigerator

Some refrigerators and freezers have an external or internal sensor that accurately displays the temperature in the compartments. However, many devices do not have such a sensor, in which case the temperature must be measured independently with a refrigerator thermometer. Here's how to do it:

The highest point in the appliance is + 10 - on the top shelf, + 5 in the middle of the refrigerator compartment, and + 2 ° C in the lower zone above fruits and vegetables.

You can determine the exact number of degrees as follows:

  • place a glass of water and a thermometer for 12 hours (preferably overnight) on the middle shelf;
  • do not open the door to the refrigerator compartment during the entire measurement period;
  • If the temperature does not meet the established standards, it should be adjusted using a roller.

After you independently adjust the temperature in the refrigerator, for example, to +10 degrees, it will operate in a certain cooling mode.

In the freezer: place the thermometer between two bags of food and leave for 8 hours.

Temperature measurement

In what cases do people want to know what temperature level is in their refrigerator:

  • for the purpose of checking its serviceability and performance;
  • when there are doubts about the relevance of the selected temperature regime in relation to the products being stored;
  • for an accurate understanding of whether it is cold enough in the chamber for certain products.

Modern models have a display that shows the current temperature, and it is also possible to set it with an accuracy of a degree.

In older models, there is only a mechanical power regulator, and you only have to find out how many degrees in the refrigerator today by placing a thermometer or thermometer.

In the latter case, you will need to place the thermometer on a dry saucer, place it on the middle shelf and leave for 10 minutes.

In the same way, you can find out the exact number of degrees in any of the zones of any refrigerator (why this is important to know will be discussed further).

How is the set temperature maintained in a two-chamber Atlant refrigerator?

A modern refrigerator operates using freon cycles. The physical states of the refrigerant change as follows:

  • Compression;
  • Condensation;
  • Extension;
  • Evaporation.

To provide four states of aggregation, four types of devices in the refrigerator were invented:

  • Compressor;
  • Condenser (condenser);
  • Capillary tube;
  • Evaporator.

We think everyone has heard about the compressor. The evaporator and condenser are represented by metal coils, inside of which freon circulates in different states of aggregation. This is where heat is absorbed and released. Evaporators behind the rear walls of the freezer and refrigerator compartment. The condenser is located behind the refrigerator body. The metal radiator grill improves heat dissipation.

An interesting element is the capillary tube. The product is made of metal: aluminum, steel, copper. Inner diameter 0.5 mm. Provides low freon flow rate.

The temperature is not measured inside the refrigerator, but at the evaporator. The designers calculated the climatic conditions and modes. The temperature in the refrigerator corresponds to a fixed parameter value on the evaporator.

There are different temperature measurement schemes. Today special thermal relays are used. Mechanical (formed by bellows), electronic (thermistors, thermotransistors, thyristors act as sensors). Historically, the first to appear were designs using bellows, which were externally sealed metal corrugated cylindrical containers. The working medium of the thermal relay is freon, which is converted into gas by the evaporator and causes the device to operate.

Electronic circuits are much more durable and require electricity to operate. Moreover, a 230 volt outlet will not be suitable for these purposes, so refrigerators will have to acquire transformers. However, for models with inverter compressors this is not a problem. The name itself says: inside there are two stages of (complex) transformation of electric current.

Thus, today an electronic refrigerator temperature sensor looks more appropriate than the antediluvian bellows device. Equipment without electricity will not work.

Basic principles

What temperature should be in the refrigerator and freezer:

  • The ideal overall refrigerator temperature should be between +3 and +5°C.
  • The freezer must maintain a temperature of -18° C or lower.
  • In the freshness zone (if there is one), set the temperature to about 0-1° C.

After adjusting the thermostat, the desired climate will be established in 6-8 hours

These standards are suitable for storing most products, but still not for all - some supplies need to be stored at zero temperature, while others need to be stored at 5-10 degrees Celsius. Moreover, in different zones of the chamber the cold is distributed differently, despite the given general mode. Somewhere the climate is warmer, and somewhere noticeably colder.

  • So it turns out that even after adjusting the thermostat correctly, we can find milk with ice in the refrigerator, unexpectedly rotten eggs or lettuce leaves that for some reason have turned into a jelly-like slurry.

Of course, the average consumer does not need to know the intricacies of storage conditions for all types of products, but there are some recommendations that are not difficult to remember and apply in life. Our little guide will help you with this in the next section of the article.

Options for temperature control in a two-chamber Atlant refrigerator

For a long period, refrigerators were produced that supported only one temperature mode, and the presence of an adjustment function was not provided. The setting allows you to regulate energy consumption and the degree of freezing of the contents. All adjustment devices can be divided into two main categories:

  • Mechanical. In this case, the adjustment involves changing the position of the rotary disk, above which the scale is located. A similar mechanism is installed on many budget models, because it is easy to use and reliable.
  • Electronic. The device is represented by a digital panel; installation provides for indicating the mode or temperature. Electronic control units can be implemented in a variety of ways; the modern offer is represented by a large display.

The location of the adjustment device depends on the features of the model. The two-compressor refrigerator is equipped with two control units. Temperature adjustment in the Atlant refrigerator is carried out in the same way as in equipment from other manufacturers.

Before directly setting the temperature, you need to take into account several recommendations from the experts:

  • The ambient temperature largely determines how the refrigerator will operate. As the heat increases, it becomes more difficult for the device to function. Most Atlant models operate normally at +16…+32°С. In summer, it is not recommended to set the temperature too cold, as this puts a lot of stress on the compressor.
  • Over time, the basic performance characteristics of the refrigerator may change. At the same time, in the same mode there may be more or less cold, it all depends on several factors: workload, frequency of door opening, technical condition.
  • It is recommended to periodically check the indicator using a thermometer. This will allow you to find out the technical condition of the device, since a drop in the indicator indicates a malfunction and the need to replace freon.
  • If, when changing the thermostat, the temperature remains unchanged, then it is recommended to call and call a technician. This sign often indicates a malfunction of the main components of the structure.

The operating instructions, which are compiled by the manufacturer, contain all the recommendations regarding the installation and operation of the Atlant refrigerator.

Regulating the temperature in a two-chamber Atlant refrigerator using a mechanical regulator

The thermostat is installed to maintain the required operating mode. The set temperature on No Frost is maintained throughout the entire operating time of the device, for which the motor is periodically turned on. Among the features of using a mechanical regulator, we note the following:

  • Changing the operating mode is carried out by rotating the regulator. The temperature set in the refrigerator compartment is maintained throughout the entire period of operation of the device.
  • When rotating clockwise, the coldness increases, counterclockwise, it decreases.
  • The numbers on the handle do not indicate the temperature. They are used to determine the position of the regulator. Therefore, the device should be configured taking into account the fact that as the number increases, the temperature in the refrigerator compartment decreases.
  • In most cases, the adjustment involves setting a value from 1 to 7.
  • It is recommended to select number 3, since this mode is suitable for storing a wide variety of products. The rate may be increased if it is hot outside.

The temperature in the freezer compartment of a household appliance remains within a wide range. You should not choose mode 6-7, since the cold is achieved through prolonged operation of the compressor. In some cases, the Atlant refrigerator may not turn off for several hours, which causes the compressor to burn out and a significant increase in energy consumption. Adjusting the indicator is easy, but it takes time to change the temperature.

Regulating the temperature in a two-chamber Atlant refrigerator using a switch

  • Locate the sliding switch on your refrigerator. There may be a series of numbers at the top or bottom of the switch. Most often, "1" means the coldest setting, while a higher number means warmer settings.
  • Move the switch to the left of 1 if you want to reduce the refrigerator temperature. Or move the switch to the right if the refrigerator temperature is too low.
  • Measure the temperature after 5-8 hours. If you get the desired temperature inside the refrigerator, then the switch is placed correctly. If the temperature is still not what you want, move the switch an additional notch to the right or left until you get the temperature inside the refrigerator to the desired temperature.
  • Use a marker to mark the ideal position of the switch on the wall of the refrigerator. You will always know where to move the switch if it moves out of place.

Regulating the temperature in a two-chamber Atlant refrigerator using a numeric keypad

Many refrigerators began to be equipped with electronic regulators, which are installed externally at the top of the device. You can regulate the temperature in the Atlant refrigerator using a similar device as follows:

  • The change is made using the key, which adds and decreases the main indicator.
  • In most cases, the adjustment range is from +2...+8°С.
  • One press of the key allows you to change the indicator by 1°C.
  • A small analog display is installed to display information.
  • Before you set the temperature, you should determine what you want to set. An indicator that is too low is chosen in rare cases.

Various models of the device in the Republic of Belarus are very popular due to their practicality, quality and price. Despite the simplicity of two-chamber refrigerators, installation problems sometimes arise. After purchase, the consumer may not understand how to correctly turn it on for the first time and make adjustments so that the device operates in a certain mode. The buyer should know what temperature is usually in the Atlant refrigerator and what needs to be done to maintain it at a certain level.

How to adjust the temperature in Atlant two-chamber refrigerators

The roller has a digital designation: from 1 to 7. The higher the number, the lower the temperature. Depending on the Atlant modification, there may be several rollers: for the refrigeration and freezer compartments. When turned on for the first time, the user must set the adjustment to position “2”. A click must be heard.

Next, the temperature must be reduced. In this case, the compressor will work without stopping. You will have to adjust the mode again downwards on the scale until it clicks. After these steps, the freezing and cooling process is carried out automatically by the device. For clarity, a video is provided below.

How to adjust the temperature in two-chamber Atlant refrigerators with two compressors

An interesting engineering solution is refrigerators with two compressors, one of which serves the freezer compartment and the other serves the refrigeration compartment. This design makes it possible to fine-tune each engine, and, if necessary, turn off one of them. The temperature is adjusted by two regulators in the same way as in previous models. For normal operation, it is enough to set them in positions from 3 to 5.

How to adjust the temperature in two-chamber Atlant refrigerators with electronic control

This series of refrigeration equipment is equipped with the most modern electronics, including separate temperature control and various operation indicators. When the refrigerator is connected to the network, the operating parameters of the freezer and refrigerator compartments are displayed on the control panel. The electronic unit is also equipped with an alarm system that notifies about prolonged (over 1 minute) door opening, a system for shutting down the refrigerator in case of an excessive voltage drop (below 170) and increase (over 260 volts).

Adjusting the temperature with this choice of functions is quite simple: the freezer temperature control button is located on the control panel on the left. The adjacent two-position window reflects the settings. The manufacturer's recommended temperature is about -18 degrees.

Setting the temperature of the refrigerator compartment is also not difficult: the temperature selection button is located on the control panel on the right, near the single-position display window of the main chamber of the device. By pressing this key, the mode recommended by the instructions is set. What temperature should the Atlant refrigerator be? Optimal - in the range from +3 to +5 C.

If there is a failure in the temperature mode, this will be reflected on the panel with the letter H.

How to adjust the temperature in the freezer compartment of a two-chamber Atlant refrigerator

The temperature in the Atlant two-chamber refrigerator is regulated by two rollers: for the freezer and refrigerator compartments. For optimal storage, frozen foods should fit tightly together. This method saves energy and allows you to preserve food for as long as possible during power outages.

There are three main modes:

  • Quick freezing from -24 to -30 °C. Used for rapid freezing of fresh products.
  • The optimal level is from -20 to -24°C. Suitable for frequent use of the freezer compartment.
  • A low freezing level of -14 °C is used when the department is lightly loaded.

Attention! Do not block the air passages of the No Frost system on the back wall of Atlant equipment with products. This will prevent untimely failure of the device.

For high-quality freezing of food in Atlant two-chamber devices, the consumer must monitor the cleanliness and operation of his equipment. It is necessary to defrost it in a timely manner if frost has formed, and also to clean it if water accumulates on the back wall.

Timely measures will prevent breakdowns and failure of equipment ahead of schedule. Such measures can also eliminate noise that can arise as a result of improper use and lack of maintenance.

Impact of ambient temperature on freezer operation

The question is relevant. In an effort to free up scarce space in a living space, the freezer is given a cold corner in the hallway, veranda or balcony. However, the instructions say that the ambient temperature should be (6-35) 0 C. The stability of the temperature in the freezer depends on how well the regime is maintained.

In order not to create extreme conditions for the device, it is better to keep the ambient temperature from 10 to 30 degrees. If the refrigerator is moved to the balcony, the space should be insulated and a heater installed. At 5 0, the thermostat may not close the contacts and may not start the compressor. When the lubricant thickens, the load on the engine increases, the freon does not completely evaporate - water hammer in the compressor is possible. The electronics may well fail.

We suggest you read: How to correctly set the temperature in the refrigerator

It’s minus outside, the liquid turns into ice not only in the compressor. You managed to harden the thermal relay, it turns on the system. Will the freezer work at sub-zero temperatures?

  1. The lubricant in the system becomes thick, friction resistance increases, and overload protection is triggered.
  2. Not all of the freon boils, the compressor compresses the gas and liquid mixture, and the liquid has a different resistance to compression.
  3. No Frost does not work in the cold, the evaporator becomes overgrown with ice.
  4. In the cold, seals lose their elasticity and depressurization occurs.

All of the above is confirmed by the fact that working at sub-zero temperatures, the freezer quickly collapses. When leaving an idle freezer in an unheated room for the winter, you should dry it well and open the door slightly to ventilate the chamber.

Any person who has an Atlant refrigerator in their kitchen should know the operating cycle of the device, its shutdown time and its actual operation. The temperature regime in the Atlant refrigerator depends on the indicator of the shift between work and rest.

Freezer Atlant

The operating cycle is achieved thanks to a thermostat, which sets the required freezing temperature. In Atlant refrigerators, the operating cycle will be longer when the chambers are fully loaded with chilled products. They give off their own cold, maintaining the temperature regime for a long time.

Often, in order to save space, the refrigerator is placed on the balcony or loggia. It is undesirable to do this, especially in the winter season.

Manufacturers of refrigerators give the following recommendation - the device should be operated at temperatures from 10 to 32 degrees Celsius. At lower temperatures, freezers will work for a period of time, but will soon encounter the following problems:

  • thickening of the lubricant;
  • disabling the No Frost function and freezing the evaporator;
  • decreased elasticity of the seal;
  • depressurization of the device.

What to do if the Atlant two-chamber refrigerator does not freeze

Like any electronics, Atlant cannot be turned on immediately after transportation. Before starting, it is recommended to wait from 8 to 16 hours: when tilting and vibrations, which are inevitable when transporting a refrigerator, the oil in the compressor leaves its workplace. After the required time has passed, the refrigerator can be turned on and the temperature setting can be set.

After the first start-up, the device gains temperature and enters normal operation throughout the day. If after this time the temperature inside any of the chambers of the refrigeration unit does not correspond to the specified mode, you will have to contact a specialized service center.

Product placement principles

Proper distribution of products throughout the entire volume of the refrigerator compartment will help increase their shelf life, while maintaining taste and beneficial qualities to the maximum extent. Recommended temperature conditions for various zones are described above. It remains to figure out which products these zones will be most suitable for.

Warm zone

The warm zone includes shelves on the door, containers for fruits and vegetables, as well as the top shelves of the refrigerator compartment - in general, the entire space where it is warmer than +5 ° C. It is known that under such conditions microorganisms can develop quite actively. This circumstance imposes restrictions on the range of products stored in such a microclimate.

What can and cannot be stored in such conditions

Various packaged sauces and seasonings, such as mayonnaise, mustard, tartar, horseradish, etc., are well stored in this area. Cooked dishes are preserved well, but only if they were not kept for days at room temperature before placing them in the refrigerator. In addition, you can safely place compotes, confectionery, fruits, vegetables, herbs, processed cheese, and smoked meats in the warm zone. Usually eggs are also stored there, although the conditions for storing them are not ideal. But since this product is used up quickly, it doesn't really matter.

It is not advisable to store meat, seafood and dairy products in a warm area. This does not mean that everything listed cannot be placed there at all, but the shelf life of such products under the described conditions is limited. For example, keeping fresh meat at +8 °C for 12–16 hours is quite risky.

Cold zone

The cold zone usually includes a space where it is colder than +5 °C, including the so-called “fresh zone” with a special microclimate. Under these conditions, the development of various microorganisms is difficult, so it is advisable to use such space for storing perishable products. On the other hand, for some products an excessively cold atmosphere is undesirable and storing them in a cold zone is not recommended.

What can and cannot be stored under these conditions

The cold zone is optimal for storing, first of all, fresh meat and fish, as well as various seafood. In addition, it is recommended to store dairy products there, including hard and soft cheeses. If the eggs are going to be stored for quite a long time - more than a week, it is better to place them in a cold zone. Of course, you can also place there those products that are usually stored in a warm zone, but there are exceptions. Thus, it is undesirable to expose almost all exotic fruits, such as bananas, pineapples or mangoes, to too cold air - they quickly lose their appearance and taste.

Tips for using the Atlant refrigerator

  • The ambient temperature greatly affects the operation of the refrigerator. The hotter it is around, the harder it is to create the necessary cold. Most refrigerators operate normally in the air temperature range of 16-32°C degrees. Although refrigerators have different climate classes, you should not set too low temperatures in summer, as this can increase energy consumption and put a strain on the refrigerator. The higher the ambient temperature, the lower the number on the regulator.
  • It is difficult to say unequivocally what number the thermostat should be set in the refrigerator. Temperature readings in the refrigerator compartment are determined by a large number of factors: technical condition, refrigerator load, room temperature, frequency of door openings, etc.
  • Check the cooling quality regularly or install a stationary thermometer.
  • If, when you turn the knob or change the value on the digital display, the actual temperature remains the same, call a technician.
  • Everything must be packed. This is necessary so that the food does not dry out, does not spread its odors and does not absorb other aromas. In addition, high-quality packaging protects products from the penetration of bacteria.
  • Never put anything hot or even slightly warm in it, wait until it cools completely.
  • Do not forget to close the doors tightly, otherwise the temperature inside will be disturbed (increased).
  • Do not pack the chamber volume with packages and boxes too tightly, otherwise the circulation of cold air will be disrupted and your products will not cool properly. How much you can put depends on the volume of equipment. It is especially not recommended to place too many warm foods into the chamber at the same time. If you have to do just this, it is better to temporarily set the device to a more intensive operating mode (less degrees).
  • To ensure your refrigerator and freezer remain efficient, they should always be at least half full. If your supplies are low or non-existent (for example, when you are on vacation), then you need to put bottles of water in the cells.
  • Keep your refrigerator/freezer shelves tidy and try to stack food so that there is some space around it for air circulation.
  • Never put hot or warm foods in the refrigerator. This can lead, firstly, to the formation of condensation and ice, and secondly, to overheating and engine breakdown. Agree, it’s better for the soup to go bad than for expensive equipment. However, refrigerators with a No frost system are not afraid of hot foods, but keep in mind that they will increase electricity consumption and the load on the appliance’s motor.
  • If you find that the refrigerator is cooling the chamber unevenly or not well enough, then listen to the sound that the compressor makes when running: a working device should hum quietly. If you don't hear this sound, it's time to call a professional to repair your compressor.
  • If ice or frost has formed in your refrigerator/freezer, the appliance must be completely defrosted, the chambers wiped dry, and then connected as usual.

How to choose a microclimate for a freezer

If you store food in the refrigerator, its shelf life will be short. This is especially true for dairy products, different types of meat, seafood and fish. To keep food longer, they are placed in the freezer, which is equipped in almost all refrigerator models. It varies in size - from 40 liters to 100 liters or more.

Built-in freezer

It also helps to make large supplies of greens, fruits, berries, and vegetables. Then it is recommended to use a separate freezer. Only the slightest deviation in temperature can reduce the shelf life of food supplies. Therefore, before immersing them, it is better to pre-cool the freezer to -24 degrees. It will be possible to increase the temperature after final freezing - after 10-12 hours.

It sets indicators in the range -6-24. Asterisks are used to indicate the operating mode. This makes it easier for the user to navigate when setting the temperature. One star corresponds to 6 degrees. The optimal temperature for the freezer is -18. If necessary, you can use the fast freezing function, in which the temperature drops to -22 in the shortest possible time. Setting the desired climate is completed 6-8 hours after setting the thermostat.

Vegetables frozen using the Quick Freeze function

For the freezer to work effectively, it must be at least half full. If there is nothing to put food there, it is recommended to place regular water bottles there.

If frost or ice appears in the freezer, the equipment needs to be completely defrosted. After this, the cameras are wiped dry and connected to the network.

Types of cooling systems

The temperature in the refrigerator is reduced by the cooling system. Several types of cooling systems are used in household refrigerators. Typically, models for home use use compressor units that allow the user to independently set the proper level of cold both in the refrigerator and in the freezer. Absorption and thermoelectric systems find their application. Let's take a closer look at the features of all these types of cooling systems.

Wine cabinets are used to store wine. This is specialized refrigeration equipment that maintains optimal conditions specifically for wine - temperature, humidity, protection from light and vibration.

Compressor

Compressor systems are the most common. The principle of their operation is based on the use of a refrigerant gas, which, with the help of a compressor, changes from a gaseous to a liquid state, releasing heat, and inside the refrigerator, in the evaporator, turns into a gaseous state, absorbing heat. The circulation of the refrigerant is also ensured by the compressor. To prevent the formation of frost in the refrigerating chamber, “No Frost” technology is used - when cooled air from the evaporator is transferred to the refrigerating chamber by fans.

In compressor devices, microclimate homogeneity is not ensured; the temperature is distributed unevenly. So, for example, the temperature in the Atlant refrigerator or, for example, LG, Bosch or Biryusa, on average varies from +2 ° C at the bottom to 10 degrees at the top in the refrigerator compartment or on the shelves of the refrigerator door. What temperature is optimal for different products is discussed below.

Absorption

In cooling systems of this type, the cooling process also occurs due to the refrigerant. In this case, the refrigerant dissolves (absorbs) in the liquid. Jet pumps or other devices are used to circulate the refrigerant. All this ensures the durability and quietness of absorption systems. Both electricity and burned natural gas can be used as an energy source. Such systems are most often used in industrial devices. However, there are also household appliances that use such a system, for example, refrigerators in mobile homes.

Thermoelectric

Systems of this type operate on the Peltier effect, which occurs when electric current passes through the contact area of different conductors. In this case, one conductor heats up and the other cools. Devices with thermoelectric cooling systems are durable, quiet and reliable. However, they are quite expensive, and their performance depends on normal air temperature. Despite these disadvantages, thermoelectric systems are quite widely used in refrigerator bags, small-sized automotive devices, and also in office coolers.

Product distribution

It is known that in different areas of the storage room, conditions for products can vary quite significantly. The details depend on what temperature the refrigerator was originally set to.

With a standard value of 3−4 °C, the indicators will be approximately as follows:

  1. The refrigerator door is the warmest zone. The temperature on the upper shelves can reach 10 °C, and on the lower shelves it stays around 5 °C. Such conditions are good for storing butter, processed cheese and other soft products - they will be slightly thawed and can be immediately spread on bread. The shelves are also suitable for storing sauces, drinks, and jam. The doors can also hold some medications that need to be kept cold, but not frozen. But it is not recommended to keep milk and eggs on the doors, despite the fact that manufacturers often equip this area specifically for them - the products will quickly deteriorate.
  2. On the middle shelves the temperature stays around 5-8 °C. In depth it is lower than in places close to the door, and amounts to 3-4 °C - this is due to the proximity of the cooling element. Therefore, in the back of the chamber it is recommended to store foods that most need cold - fresh meat and fish, milk, kefir, eggs, vegetables and herbs. In the front zone you can keep honey, berries, sausages and smoked meats, cheese, confectionery, leftover dishes, as well as products that will soon be used for cooking.
  3. On the bottom shelf the temperature is lower - about 2-3 °C. The same indicator is in the back of the top shelf if the freezer is on top. Here you can store perishable food - meat, fish, kefir, seafood, yoghurt, cottage cheese, cakes, fresh and boiled eggs. Vegetables and herbs can also be kept in these areas if they need to be kept fresh for a long time.
  4. The fruit and vegetable drawers are another of the warmest places in the refrigerator. The temperature in them is about 8 °C. This area is intended for products that spoil slowly - potatoes, cucumbers, apples and pears, radishes. You can also store mushrooms here. The period during which food remains fresh depends on the type of food and storage conditions. It usually lasts from a week to a month, if the chambers are not too crowded and air continues to circulate between the fruits or vegetables.
  5. Dairy products, meat, seafood, as well as semi-finished products from them - sausages, bacon, ham, sausages and cold cuts are stored in the dry zero chamber. The wet chamber is designed for vegetables, fruits, berries and herbs - in its special microclimate they best retain their taste and beneficial qualities. Corn, apples, pears, persimmons and carrots can be kept in it for more than a month, other products - about a week. The temperature in both types of chambers ranges from -1 to 0 °C.
  6. In the freezer, a normal temperature is considered to be from -6 to -30 °C, depending on the settings and model of the refrigerator. In most cases, the indicator is within −18…−24 °C. The values below are used for blast freezing only. In the freezer you can store frozen vegetables, fruits, meat and fish, semi-finished and ready-made food from the store (dumplings, dumplings, cutlets, pancakes, etc.), ice cream and desserts. The shelf life depends on the depth of freezing. At a temperature of -18 °C, meat products remain fresh for six months, while others remain fresh for a year or more. But at -12 °C this period is approximately halved.

Some foods should not be stored in the refrigerator at all. For example, exotic fruits such as bananas, pineapples, avocados, papayas and passion fruits turn black when exposed to cold, causing their taste and appearance to deteriorate. It is also not recommended to keep chocolate, coffee, onions, garlic, olive and sunflower oil, as well as a variety of canned food and pickles in the cooling chamber.
