Is it possible to refill the cartridge?
Another important aspect when choosing a new device is the ability to refill the cartridge
. Everything is quite simple here. After you have chosen several models you like, call any refill company and ask if they can refill cartridges for the selected model. Here it is worth paying attention to the cost of refilling: some cartridges are more expensive to refill than others, since they require a special toner. The print quality is the same, but you will pay more only because the powder is of a different class. The second point that needs to be clarified is whether it is necessary to change the chip when refilling the cartridge. If you followed our advice and chose HP or Canon, you can forget about this issue, since the chips for cartridges from these manufacturers do not need to be changed when refilling. If the chip is present, it does not affect printing in any way. It will simply display a message about the end of the toner, but will not block the printer.
Which model should I buy?
You might be thinking: “Why say so many unnecessary words when you could just recommend a few models?” Unfortunately, we cannot recommend a specific model, and here's why. We refill cartridges and repair office equipment and mainly deal with relatively “old” devices. Let's say a year ago. We don’t receive new devices unless they bring them to refill a cartridge for them, so we have virtually no information on new models.

Inkjet or laser?
Today there are two types of printers. These are devices that print with ink (inkjet) and devices that use toner for printing (laser). Let's figure out what is the fundamental difference between one type and another. We will not touch on the technical process and will talk about the differences that influence the choice when buying a new device.
Inkjet devices are quite cheap, unlike laser devices, which cost several orders of magnitude more. This is where the list of advantages of inkjet printers ends. Inkjet printers are difficult to repair. Two reasons: firstly, the high cost of spare parts compared to the cost of a new device, and secondly, the high complexity of repairs due to the ink supply system. Plus, it can be quite difficult to find spare parts.
The second significant disadvantage of ink-printing machines is the high cost of the copy. Let’s be clear: the cartridge is expensive, but it doesn’t last long. On average, for a regular, “home” inkjet printer, the cost of a copy is about six rubles for a black and white print of text (for example, a page of a book), and about fifty rubles for a color photograph in A4 format. Agree, quite expensive.
The third drawback: for inkjet devices it will not be possible to refill the cartridge. More precisely, it will be possible to refuel, but many problems will arise. Firstly, few people run them. Basically, inkjet cartridges are refilled at radio markets (such as, for example, the Savelovsky radio market). Large companies involved in refilling cartridges bypass inkjet machines, as it is simply unprofitable. Secondly, refilling ink cartridges is quite unstable: depressurization during refilling leads to the risk of ink spilling into the device. Naturally, it is unlikely that it will be possible to repair it after this.
From all this it follows that buying an inkjet printer only makes sense if you are buying a printer for your home and you need to print color images. Not everyone can afford to have a color laser printer at home: they are very expensive. That's why we have to buy cheap inkjet ones. If your plans do not include printing color images, it is better to buy a monochrome (black and white) laser printer.
The cost of a copy is several times cheaper, since it is possible to refill the cartridge. With refilling laser devices, everything is much simpler: they refill perfectly, but the printer can be damaged by refilling only if the refiller has completely crooked hands. If you take a regular q2612a cartridge, printing a page with text will cost you about 30 kopecks (this is if you refill the cartridge) and about eighty kopecks if you buy new cartridges. Even in the second case, the price of a copy is not comparable to the price of an inkjet print copy.
A little about the characteristics
At this point, we have already decided that we will buy Canon or HP. We also decided whether it would be inkjet or laser. Now what? Now all that remains is to choose something from the resulting list, and it is quite large. At this stage, we recommend that you have a clear idea of the purpose for which you are purchasing the printer. For example: if you are buying a device for a secretary who will only need to print documents, there is no point in buying a fancy MFP (multifunctional device), it is better to buy a simple printer. Features of inkjet printers with CISS
The popularity of inkjet devices has not ceased to grow over a long period. Their main advantage is low cost and functionality. Color printing allows you to print not only black and white documents and images, but also photographs at home.
Printers using inkjet technology have one big drawback - expensive maintenance. Replacing ink cartridges often accounts for about a third or more of the cost of the unit itself. With the advent of CISS - a continuous ink supply system, this drawback was eliminated.
This system consists of several main components:
- cartridge that is installed in the printer;
- containers containing paint;
- a train of thin tubes for supplying ink.
A special feature of using this technology is that you will no longer need to replace cartridges; it is enough to periodically add paint to the containers.
