Why the Samsung washing machine does not spin and what to do

Malfunctions due to user errors

Spinning clothes in a Bosch washing machine, as a rule, does not occur in cases where the owner makes a mistake in the process of selecting a program or violates the rules for using the equipment.

It should be noted that delicate washing modes either do not contain spinning at all, or they are performed at minimum speed.

Also, the user may inadvertently set the spin speed of the washing equipment incorrectly or turn it off completely.

In this case there is no problem. You must wait until the washing program has completed, and then spin the laundry separately. On Bosch machines this function is indicated by a spiral icon.

You need to be very careful when sorting dirty laundry. After all, dirty things need to be sorted by quantity, color and weight.

For example, small items need to be complemented by some large item.

Troubleshooting

A malfunction may be the reason why the Bosch machine has stopped spinning clothes.

Failure to spin laundry can cause the following parts to malfunction:

  • tachometer;
  • engine;
  • the filter or pump is clogged;
  • water level sensor;
  • control module malfunction.

A clogged pump or drain filter can also cause the washer to stop spinning clothes.

When the belt is stretched, the tachometer transmits information to the control module about speed data that does not correspond to those stored in the base. As a result, a failure occurs in the control module and the program stops immediately before spinning the laundry.

This problem occurs not only with Bosch washing machines. With Ardo washing equipment, laundry may not be spun for the same reasons.

If this malfunction is detected, the drive belt must be replaced. After this, the control module and the machine itself will work properly.

Washing machine breakdown

Machine breakdown

But, probably, the most tragic and undesirable thing for housewives is the breakdown of the Indesit washing machine. If the unit previously successfully washed clothes, but at one point stopped coping with its functions, it is necessary to find out the cause of the breakdown. Why doesn't the Indesit washing machine spin out clothes?

There may be several reasons:

  • Drive belt stretch.
  • Tachometer malfunction.
  • Engine failure.
  • Burnout of modules in the electronic board.

Troubleshooting

When Bosch washing equipment stops spinning clothes or does not start the spin phase at all, the first thing you need to do is unscrew and inspect the garbage filter.

If you have an automatic washing machine, this procedure must be performed. Otherwise, problems may arise related to draining dirty water, as well as starting the spin function.

Then you need to disconnect the washing equipment from the communications and take it out to a place where it can be disassembled without any problems.

Next, you need to pull out the detergent tray and place the device on the left side. To get to the pump and drain pipe, you need to remove the pan.

At the next stage, you need to unscrew the clamps, pull off the pipe and carefully inspect it. Next, the pump is dismantled. It needs to be disassembled and inspected. Particular attention should be paid to the impeller. Using a multimeter, we check the resistance of the pump.

If it is ok, you should immediately check the electric motor. After all, it’s more convenient to get to it through the bottom of the machine. We remove and check the brushes. If they are working properly, it is necessary to measure the resistance of the motor winding.

Then you need to check the tachometer of your Bosch washing equipment. This part is located directly on the unit’s electric motor housing. You can get to the tachometer through the bottom of the machine. You need to remove it and then check the resistance with a multimeter. The faulty sensor must be replaced with a new one.

Next comes checking the pressure switch.

To do this you need:

  1. Unscrew the fasteners securing the top cover of the washing machine;
  2. Remove the top cover.
  3. Remove the pressure switch.
  4. Clean the water level sensor tube thoroughly and then blow it out. Measure the resistance. If the pressure switch is faulty, replace it with a new one.
  5. If the fault cannot be identified, you need to check the control module of the machine.

To diagnose and repair this part, you need to have extensive experience working with electronics. It will be extremely difficult for an ordinary user to repair the control module. In this case, it is better to seek help from a specialist.

Second step: clean the filter

The next problem that can lead to stagnation of water in the drum and insufficient spinning of the laundry can be a clogged drain system. If debris has accumulated in the filter or drain pipe, water will have trouble leaving the system. This problem cannot be ignored: over time, the blockage will become denser, the water will begin to find its way, and it is not a fact that it will not leak out.

The first thing I did was open the door on the front panel and pull out the drain filter. I won’t say that it is very dirty, but it is better to do this operation with rubber gloves. You need to wash the filter regularly: with this simple procedure you will extend the life of your machine.

We recommend: Do-it-yourself lubrication and repair of a washing machine: from shock absorbers to bearings

I was just as easy to check the connection to the drain siphon, but I had to tinker with the drain pipe. This video found on Youtube helped:

In this video you will see the procedure for cleaning the drain system on an LG machine. With its help, I was able to drain the remaining water from the system, pull out the drain filter, and then get to the attachment point of the pipe. After this, the part can be easily disconnected, checked for blockages and cleaned if necessary.

You can move and turn over the car alone, but it is better to ask someone for help. Without an assistant, it can be difficult to handle a heavy and not very grippy unit.

Preventive measures

Washing machines, like any household appliance, sometimes break down. But with proper care and operation, the machine will last longer than usual without malfunctions.

In order for the device to last longer, you must follow certain rules that many washing machine owners ignore:

  1. Before loading items into the drum of the machine, you must carefully check all pockets. If this is not done, small objects may get into the tank of the machine. This may cause blockage or malfunction.
  2. Do not overload the washer. However, it’s also not worth driving it idle. Load a medium amount of items into the machine drum. If you follow this rule, the drive mechanism and electric motor will last longer.
  3. Use your Bosch washing machine at least once a month. Leaving the equipment idle for a long time will cause its rubber bands to fail.
  4. Do not pour excessive amounts of washing powder into the detergent drawer. Excess powder will clog the pressure switch tube and pipes. And this will cause a malfunction.
  5. If possible, it is necessary to purchase a voltage stabilizer and connect the machine to the electrical network through it. This way you can protect the electronics of the washing machine from possible breakdowns.
  6. After each wash, you need to wipe the hatch cuff with a cloth. The same needs to be done with the powder receptacle. The hatch must be left open. The detergent drawer must be pulled out. You should also drain the remaining water to prevent it from stagnating.

What to do if your “home assistant” does not spin out the laundry after a wash cycle? Automatic machine users ask this question quite often. Let's try to understand all the reasons for this malfunction and tell you how to fix it using the example of a Bosch washing machine.

How to avoid breakdown

It is always better to prevent a breakdown than to repair it later. Moreover, the operating rules are simple:

  • Before loading laundry into the drum, check all pockets and remove foreign objects.
  • Install and connect the machine correctly according to the instructions.
  • Sort your items before washing. Place clothes with decorations in special bags.
  • Do not load too much laundry. This leads to rapid wear of the washing machine and poor quality washing.
  • Install a voltage stabilizer. It will protect expensive equipment from sudden breakdown.
  • Clean the drain filter and detergent dispenser periodically.
  • Do not close the hatch door after removing the laundry. This promotes the formation of fungus and mold.

Now you know why the drum in a washing machine may not spin and wring out clothes. Be attentive to the first signs of damage, then you will be able to avoid expensive repairs.

Custom Reasons

Most often, a Bosch washing machine does not spin if the user makes a mistake when choosing a program or violates simple operating rules. Washing programs designed for delicate clothes and linen are initially set so that there is either no spin at all, or it takes place at the lowest speed. Therefore, you should not be surprised if you take too wet laundry out of the drum after the “Silk” mode.

The second reason is that the user inattentively set the spin speed on the washing machine, turning off the spin cycle completely. In principle there is no problem. It is enough to wait until the end of the washing program and turn on the spin function separately. This function on Bosch washing machines is indicated by a spiral.

The third reason is the discrepancy between the weight of the laundry and the maximum load of the drum and its volume. You cannot overload the drum, just as you cannot underload it. An unwrung down jacket is a consequence of an overloaded washing machine with a small volume, and wet organza curtains are, on the contrary, an underload.

Be careful when sorting laundry; not only its color is important, but also the quantity and weight of the items. For small things you need to add something large or tennis balls.

Drive belt stretched

On a new car this is unlikely. But if your washer is more than 7 years old, the belt may stretch. This problem will resolve itself. To do this, remove the back cover and try to twist the belt along the axis. If more than 3 revolutions can be completed, replacement is necessary.

A stretched belt washes clothes without any problems, but slips in the spin mode - there is not enough traction with the drum pulley or the motor shaft.

Drive belt

technical issues

If the above reasons are not your case, then you need to look for a breakdown. The lack of spin can be caused by:

  • faulty tachometer;
  • faulty water level sensor;
  • broken electric motor;
  • clogged filter or pump;
  • failure of the electronic module.

We will talk about finding the above faults in more detail in the next paragraph. And now I would like to talk about the specific design features of belt-driven washing machines, including Bosch. The fact is that with such washing machines, the belt stretches a little over time and can no longer provide stable transmission.

Some people will ask: “what does the spinning problem have to do with it and what does the drive belt have to do with it?” In fact, the relationship is very direct. An elongated belt leads to the fact that the electronic module receives information about revolutions from the tachometer, which does not correspond to that contained in the base. As a result, a malfunction occurs in the electronic module, which causes the program to stop just before spinning. The solution to the problem is to tighten the belt or replace it. By the way, if you don’t have a Bosch, but an Ardo washing machine doesn’t spin clothes, the reason may be exactly the same.

After replacing the belt, the electronics of the Bosch washing machine begin to work correctly, as do the electrical modules.

Troubleshooting

If the Bosch washing machine refuses to spin out the laundry, or indeed to activate this stage of the washing program, you need to start by unscrewing and inspecting the garbage filter. Cleaning the garbage filter is a mandatory procedure for any automatic washing machine, and if it is neglected, it can result in problems with draining water and starting the spin program.

Next, we need to turn off the washing machine and take it out to a place where we can safely disassemble the “home assistant”. We take out the powder receptacle, place the washer on its left side and remove the tray. From below we get to the drain pipe and pump. We unscrew the clamps, pull off the pipe and inspect it. We remove the pump, disassemble it and inspect, first of all, the impeller. After this, take a multimeter and check the resistance of the unit.

If everything is fine with the pump, you should immediately check the engine, since it is relatively convenient to get to it through the bottom. We remove the brushes, if they are intact, check the resistance of the motor winding.

This is done mainly to clear the conscience, since in the situation described above, the engine is usually in good order, although problems with the brushes arise from time to time.

After checking the engine, we proceed to the tachometer of the Bosch washing machine. The Hall sensor is located directly on the motor housing of the washing machine; we also reach it through the bottom, remove it and check the resistance. If the sensor does not ring, it is replaced with a similar one.

Now let's check the pressure switch.

  1. We unscrew the screws that hold the top cover of the Bosch washing machine.
  2. Remove the top cover.
  3. We find an object similar to the one shown in the figure below, this is the water level sensor.

  4. We thoroughly clean and blow through its tube, and then measure the resistance; if a breakdown is detected, the pressure switch must be changed.

The worst thing is if, in the end, troubleshooting leads you to the control module of the Bosch washing machine. It is necessary to find out which of the triacs has failed, and to do this, having only ordinary experience in handling electronics, is very difficult, almost impossible. You will have to contact a qualified technician.

Prevention

Any equipment tends to break down periodically, and nothing lasts forever, but oddly enough, a person can make a Bosch washing machine last longer than usual without breakdowns. How to do it? Everything is very simple, you need to follow the rules that the masters constantly talk about. And which, with the same unenviable consistency, are ignored by users of washing machines. These are the rules.

  • Do not throw clothes into the washing machine drum without first checking the pockets and removing any foreign objects that could get into the tub and subsequently cause a blockage.
  • Place a medium amount of laundry in the drum. It is very important not to overload the car, but also not to idle. For example, if your Bosch washing machine has a load of 6 kg, then you need to wash from 2.5 to 5 kg - this is optimal. This measure will allow the engine and drive mechanism to last as long as possible.
  • Run the washing machine at least once a month. If for some reason the washing machine sits idle for a long time, its rubber bands will become unusable, which in turn will force the user to pay for repairs.
  • Do not pour too much powder into the powder container. Remember, the washing machine will not appreciate your generosity; on the contrary, excess powder will clog the pipes and the pressure switch tube, which will lead to breakdown.

Never pour powder according to the standards indicated on the pack. The manufacturer, pursuing its own interests, indicates an inflated amount of the product.

  • If possible, purchase a voltage stabilizer and henceforth connect the washing machine to the mains only through it. This measure will protect the sensitive electronics of the washing machine from many risks.
  • After finishing each wash, do not forget to carry out routine care of your “home assistant”: wipe the cuff of the hatch and the powder receptacle with a cloth, open the hatch wide for drying and pull out the powder cuvette, unscrew the garbage filter and drain the remaining water so that it does not stagnate.

Engine repair

The washing machine does not spin clothes due to a breakdown of the power unit? If the machine is equipped with a conventional belt motor rather than an inverter motor, the brushes will gradually wear out, causing a problem. If the motor is not running properly, the drum cannot reach the speed required for the final washing phase.

You can solve the problem yourself if you have mechanical knowledge: you need to remove the back wall of the case, then the strap from the electric motor and disconnect the wires, and then unscrew the electric motor itself from the drum. During diagnostics, faulty engine parts can be identified and replaced with new ones.

How to determine a power unit failure:

  • if the engine sparks during the test, then the brushes need to be replaced;
  • in case of strong noise and overheating of the equipment, the cause may be a violation of the integrity of the winding;
  • peeling of the lamellas and the appearance of burrs on them entails the occurrence of sparks.

The lamellas should be checked during disassembly at the same time as the graphite brushes.

Figure 7. Engine.

Damages need to be eliminated as follows:

  1. Turn off the machine - disconnect drains, water pipes and electronic networks.
  2. Disassemble the product body: remove the panel and straps.
  3. Unscrew the bolts securing the engine.
  4. Disconnect terminals and wires connected to other elements.
  5. If the tank prevents access to the engine, you need to lift it.
  6. Different models have an individual device, so you need to remove the walls on the sides of the unit to properly remove the motor.

After this, you need to lift the broken elements or tighten their fastenings for normal operation.

Bosch washing machine stops on spin cycle (at end of wash)

Most often this happens when draining water. Before the drum begins to spin and spin out the laundry, all the water from the tank must be drained. If this does not happen and the water remains in the tank, then things will be wet. This is written in detail here.

If the water drains and the drum starts rotating for just a few seconds, and then in the opposite direction at lower speeds, this may indicate a problem with the motor brushes. In addition to worn brushes, the drum may not spin at high speeds due to a faulty motor tacho sensor.

Error in the operation of the water level sensor. This problem is expressed as follows. The water level sensor regulates the water level in the tank, and in the event of a malfunction, the inlet valve will constantly fill in water, and the drain pump will drain. Therefore, the wash cycle simply does not reach the spin cycle.

The engine is faulty. If the engine has problems with the control relay, then it may not have enough power to spin up to high speeds. This way the laundry will remain damp. The machine will spin very slowly.

Fourth step: checking and replacing the pressure switch

A pressure switch (level switch) is a part that should inform the control system board about problems with water drainage. If damaged, this part may produce false signals. Then the “brain” of the machine will not give the spin command. You can get to this part from the bottom of the machine.

There are two types of pressure switches: mechanical and electronic. Depending on the design, they are checked in different ways:

  • To check a mechanical device, you will need a tester with a ringing mode. Inside the relay, one pair of contacts is closed in a quiet position. If you blow lightly into the tube of the device, the second pair of contacts will close instead of the first (this is accompanied by a click). If you don’t hear a click, it means the pressure switch has failed.
  • It is difficult to check an electronic pressure switch. The test requires an oscilloscope, which is unlikely to be found on the household of a person who does not repair household appliances at a professional level. Therefore, the only available test method is to install a known-good relay.

We recommend: What to do if the washing machine stops heating the water

I was lucky: my friend has the same machine, and he kindly allowed me to remove the pressure switch from it and use it to test my machine. The replacement confirmed the suspicions: with a known-good relay, the machine worked the given program, completed the spin cycle on time and efficiently squeezed water out of things. All that remains is a trifle: order a new pressure switch online and install it in place of the burnt unit.

Bosch washing machine spins poorly (not completely)

The reasons are usually a clogged drain hose or drain filter. It is necessary to clear the blockage by cleaning all components of the drain system, including the filter mesh and pump nozzle.

If your clothes are wrung out after washing, but water is dripping from them, then most likely you put too many things. Try running the spin cycle again after removing some of the wet laundry from the machine.

If you cannot solve the problem with the spin cycle on your own, then contacting the service center for advice or repairs will save money and time.
